I love chess spinoffs, and the swapping pieces mechanic in this one adds a nice twist! It'd be very interesting to see an AI play this game (maybe next step for the project? :)) Also check out Really Bad Chess; it's also a very cool chess spinoff!

Rated! Thanks for playing & rating my game!

Thanks! Had a lot of fun playing yours. Yeah, I am working on a better version, and AI is on the list of must-have's

I saved the vortex station!!

Honestly, this game is pretty solid in terms of tight mechanics. You made everything fit so well with the shot! The only thing that threw me off every once in a while was the changing recoil (I experienced way less recoil on the upper side of the screen, for some reason that wasn't very clear to me). I would suggest making the player's position more obvious, since I sometimes lost him on screen.

Also, adding a "Controls" section to your description (at the very top) would have saved me some time to figure out how to shoot/charge/move (I hate tutorials, and I refused to play through it haha).

Great game, thanks for sharing! Rated!

Very original game!! I love it when regular board game components are used in creative ways! I also like how you put thought into the levels and carefully set up the special tiles to encourage players to really think it through.

I liked how you integrated the main menu with the shooting mechanic. Also liked the animations and sounds, and the fact that you can jump into the hole -- it was a nice twist on the Super-Crate-Box-like game!

I must say I did break the one hand rule and enjoyed the game way more, though!

I liked this game a lot! Absolutely loved how you used spatial audio for the clock ticks. Played with headphones and thought that was brilliant!

Unfortunately, I didn't notice that sleeping restarts the current level, and was very frustrated when I was a few levels in, lost, and got reset back to the beginning of the game. Perhaps making it more clear would help (I tried it during the first level and thought sleeping meant restarting the game, so I was too afraid to try it out during the next levels -- didn't want to lose my progress, after all!).

Platformer where you can only have one ability active at a time, and can only use it once per room! Also one hit and your dead ;) Hope you like it!

Fellow slime!!

Man, I really liked this game a lot! It progresses smoothly and teaches you concepts in a clear manner. Perhaps the only one that was somewhat hard to pick up (especially if someone not familiar w/platformers plays your game) is tapping Z when bouncing on an enemy to get a boost. Oh, and I'd also say you move the restart/suicide button over to the other side of the keyboard. I played this game with three fingers of my left hand: 2 which I really needed all the time and 1 that killed me every time. Guess which one I pressed the most? :D

Also, the intro music reminded me of Seinfeld, for some reason haha.

Thanks for sharing! Rated!

Also: I loved how the main character shares all mechanics + colors with the enemies. I did EXACTLY the same thing in my game. So intuitive!

Great design!!

Just rated (&commented) your game, It was very original, had some fun with it :) .

Our game, Feeling Lucky? is a local 1v1 wild west gun dueling game (there is single player too, but it is way better in local multi, so get a friend!). It is all about the tension, before firing that one shot. I hope you enjoy it!

This is a great little game! I bet my roommate a beer on a single game. We locked and loaded our guns, waited in the midst of the hot sun for the perfect tiny moment, and FIRED!

… and we both missed hahahaha.

He ended up getting me the 2nd time, so now I owe him a beer. But hey, at least I'm happy because I enjoyed your game :)

This reminded me of the first arcade-style games that came out for smartphones, which I used to play in high school when I was bored in class! We used to play in this really crappy phone that ran games like ICopter, and we passed it along the entire row, as me and my friends struggled to beat each other's high scores!

Aaaah, the good ol' days... I'm glad I played your game!

Hi,

Hey, Corridor is pretty clever!

I like how you kept it simple in regard to game components and focused on designing levels that properly taught the concepts and progressed smoothly. The undo button was also a pretty clever addition for when you made a little mistake, as well as the "retry" in the pause menu, for when you massively screwed up.

I really enjoyed playing the levels "Deadlock" and ¨Twin tale". Made me think a lot and were really cleverly designed!

Another dev of our game here. Best 1d game I've played so far, great design that becomes head-twisting in the hard levels. Very simple concept and you really squeezed the possibilities, also felt like a full web game.  Wouldn't be out of place as a (good) hacking minigame in a AAA title.

A true achievement!

Thanks!

Played yours impressive for a short jam like this! great ambiance and animations, and the concept is interesting. Was a little bit confused by the responsiveness of the controls sometimes I felt like picking up the torch was not working. I think there was a cool down but it would be useful to make it visible to the player.

Good job :)

Submitted

Thanks for the short review! Yeah I got kinda lazy and made it so you had to walk outside of it’s trigger and walk back to be able to pick it up because you kept picking it up immediately after putting it down. That should be fixed in that updated version on gamejolt and I also just added achievements too

The last level was difficult enough as it is, can that really be done in only one shot? I've rated your game, want to play mine?
https://bcmpinc.itch.io/defiance

Submitted

It CAN be done in just one shot, notice that whenever you destroy a triangle with a bullet, the bullet speeds up ;)

Talking about last levels being difficult, yours was INSANE. Maybe not so much "difficult" as super awesome creative. I loved it. I rated your game and left you a comment there too :)

I had already given up participating in the jam when 24 hours into the jam I came up with that puzzle as my take on the theme. It was simply too out-there to not implement. It was only after coming up with that puzzle that I decided to make a platformer around it.

The movement is pretty smooth in your game! I would've liked to have the character jump as much as I held the W button. Also, I agree with the rest of the comments that every enemy should show their power level above them, or at least use less random numbers for their HP. I can't even remember where I left my phone just now, let alone all those numbers hahaha.

Great job & thanks for sharing! Rated!

We played your game, it is super cool! I loved how it looks and how every character has their own abilities, I wish we could get to use them more! I guess we'll just have to wait until you release this as a full game :)

We gave you a review, I hope you enjoy our game too!

Cannot get enough of the OP's background music. Even without it, the game is a lot of fun!

Thank you for helping the Juan and Only on his journey! We're glad you enjoyed our game even without the awesome music by the great Eric Lagergren.

I left you a review on your game! It's a cool concept, specially with how previous-yous are a different color and your interaction with them is super important to solve the levels. I felt like the transitions were a bit too slow, specially with how much time they take compared to how short the timer for playing is. Leaving dots of the path is a great idea to remember and calculate the speed of the previous-yous, maybe it could be easier to time things if the characters were fatter? Let us know if you keep working on this game, it's pretty cool

Submitted

Thanks! Those transitions are transitions are really coming back to bite me. I'll be sure to tweak them! That's a good idea to have larger characters. With how thin they are, you end up with a pretty short window for timing once they start moving.

Submitted

I was thinking that instead of shortening the transitions, you could just let players press any button to skip it and that way there is still enough time to read if necessary

Submitted

That's smart! Thanks!

Here's my game, You Have One Shot, an FPS game where you have to kill multiple enemies in a combo with one bullet!

https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462609

Submitted (1 edit)

We were thinking alike with the mechanics! Felt great to shoot a bunch of enemies with one shot and it's a clever mechanic rewarding combos with bullets. Your game kept me on edge all the time, took me like 20 minutes to beat the level with enemies on elevated platforms. My only feedback is that I wish the FPS controller had some interpolation, it gave me a bit of motion sickness. Good and fun game, it also looks great!

Hey, just tried / rated your game!

Here is "The Only NeOne" a Grid based puzzle game where you clear levels by reaching the exit by only pressing and holding your input keys ONCE. Study the enemy's patterns, keep track of your paths you take and figure out how to reach the exit!

You will find the game here: https://dzamani.itch.io/the-only-neone

We would love to hear your feedbacks!

Thanks!

This is an awesome game dzamani! I had so much fun playing it and planning out my moves before charging forward to the goal hoping I got the timing right. I gave you a review and comment on your page. Thanks so much for yours!

Seriously great game, if it came out on some platform I would download it without a doubt.

Oh, and cool pun on the title haha

Pretty interesting idea! I would love to have a physical objective in this game, I think it would give it a sense of purpose. Something like "Get from point A to point B with no less than X points".

Awesome job coming up with the concept and the prototype!

Hey this is my cute little black and white zelda style game. A lot of people say its got a lot of content and really polished for 24 hours!  Each weapon has only one hit, so you have to find a new one every time. It can get pretty intense swapping in and out of combat whilst enemies swarm around you! I hope you play and rate! Thx

Hey, it's pretty impressive that this huge game was made in under 48 hours, congratulations!

I liked the music -- very calm and relaxing. I also liked that the game had different areas you could explore. I did keep losing hearts and not noticing, though. I think an audio/visual cue would be very helpful. Haha and I felt super bad when my awesome looking weapon broke as easily as a broadsword, but I do understand it fits the theme!

Great job!! Thanks for sharing, and if you haven't checked out our game, take a look and don't forget to rate us!

I rated the The Adventures of The Jelly Knight
I think my game is kinda underrated; https://hik.itch.io/polypuss

I got better at this game once I got the hang of it. However, I felt that the green shots have too much random deviation, and so around 50% of them would not even go close to target. Thus, I found myself spamming the green shots all the time, instead of calculating my shots and trying to move the inner + outer shields to bounce the green dots into the shield.

Interesting concept!

Thanks for sharing & playing my game! Rated!

The running animation + movement is amazing, and it feels SO good to go through all those wall and watch them break quickly! The music is also great and the one-color at a time concept is interesting. However, I did think every obstacle I ran into was something like "if X obstacle, then press Y color when ready". I would have liked to see more challenging setups that made me really think what to do. Oh, and I also felt super bad when, say, I smashed through 10 walls in a row with my green color only to jump into the next platform and get killed by a moose before even being able to switch to gray. Why would you want me to run fast before jumping into a moose platform?

If you address these design issues and get rid of the bugs + do some more very cool stuff integrating the elements you have to work as puzzles and slowly building their complexity through the game, I feel this would be a great experience. Definitely let me know if you polish this game!
