It's a cool idea and it's well executed. But the levels could be a bit more challenging. Like, maze like structures with the blue and red tiles, and some spaces to reorient the dice. It would be nice if the player would has to think which path he has to take, in which order and how the orientation of the dice should be.
However, it's a nice entry with some potential ;)
Good concept and easy to pick up.
You could have taken the mechanic much further. The challenges were quite easy, and the red and blue tiles were never in my way. I would have liked to see puzzles that have multiple goals you need to hit in order (so you need to roll between them a specific way).
Also it was unclear what contributed to my score. It was extremely high, but I only noticed it when I got to the end. Score could be an interesting mechanic though, if it was easier to understand. Maybe just a count steps, where a lower score is better (or it could be compared to a par for each puzzle).
Cool submission though, and I love the wordplay in the name. :-)
Very original idea. I think it would be better if levels were created by you instead of randomly generated because I had some REALLY easy generated ones.
This is a neat concept! Were the levels generated? It felt that way to me, in that case why would you end it after 5 levels? Let me play more! Also, the game sometimes tanked in performance for about 10 seconds at a time, which is pretty odd considering it has a very simple and clean look.
I never thought rolling dice would be so hard hahaha. I found the concept very interesting. Good work!
Good idea. Saw the similar game at the Mark's stream yesterday. I am surprised that there are so many unique ideas made by different people) I'd recommend to you to look at more hand-made levels rather than randomly generated. And make some indication of where 1 is (first thing I think of is a light beam from 1, so you can see it even if it's on the opposite side of dice). Good luck!
Thank you for playing! Certainly a few things I could have done to improve visibility. On the other hand, I think it is quite common knowledge that two opposite sides always equal to 7 and I kind like that idea of having people doing a little bit of math as well. However, I will implement a camera rotation to mitigate this.
Great game! I've already played a similar one which suprises me as it is not an idea I would have thought of easily. The game has nice graphics and is fun! It would be great if you added some sound effects if you expanded on on the game (and you should)! Overall really good game!
39,615 was my final score. Is that good or bad?! Cool idea! Would have maybe liked a bit more to the UI since it's quite bland but - it's a game jam entry so, no negative points because of that. Maybe a bit of feedback for completing the levels / failing etc? I'm assuming you had that stuff planned but ran out of time so again, not a big issue. Good job!
It's definitely not a bad score :) The rating currently is based on number of turns and in which level you are in. So if you have a lot of turns, you may want to have them rather in an earlier level. That is all very limited balancing of course, due to time constraints. I understand your points about feedback, UI, etc. and yes, that is all correct.
Thank you for playing!
perfect 15!!
Try mine and leave your feedback : https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/431948
Watched this on stream too actually! Graphics are silky smooth! Nice concept! It would make a really addicting app game. Would love to see this fleshed out more too!
A pretty good idea which is similar to the game YODO and it's great as it's a great idea. I like controls, camera angle and some additional cells on the level. However, there are a lack of UI and I don't like procedural levels for puzzle games. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good for a jam. Well done.
Thanks for the great feedback. I think the procedural was due to time constraints. Given more time I will probably be able to come up with nice level ideas that I can try out and balance against each other. I have plenty of ideas already for mechanics, level structures etc. so I might stick with it actually and turn it into something more.
Cool concept and cool level design :)
Unfortunately we had a similar idea, check it if you want https://theophilegarnier.itch.io/youonlydiceonce
