I love how you made this years theme 2 years before xD

Submitted

It's a cool idea and it's well executed. But the levels could be a bit more challenging. Like, maze like structures with the blue and red tiles, and some spaces to reorient the dice. It would be nice if the player would has to think which path he has to take, in which order and how the orientation of the dice should be.

However, it's a nice entry with some potential ;)

Developer(+1)

I'll keep it in mind :) Thank you for playing!

Good concept and easy to pick up.

You could have taken the mechanic much further. The challenges were quite easy, and the red and blue tiles were never in my way. I would have liked to see puzzles that have multiple goals you need to hit in order (so you need to roll between them a specific way).

Also it was unclear what contributed to my score. It was extremely high, but I only noticed it when I got to the end. Score could be an interesting  mechanic though, if it was easier to understand. Maybe just a count steps, where a lower score is better (or it could be compared to a par for each puzzle).

Cool submission though, and I love the wordplay in the name. :-)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That is some first class feedback. I will try to apply as much as I can for the real game.

Very original idea. I think it would be better if levels were created by you instead of randomly generated because I had some REALLY easy generated ones.

Developer

Thank you for playing! This seems to be a common feedback and I fully agree :) There will be handcrafted levels in the full game. :) Maybe some random elements mixed in.

Nice puzzle idea, it felt a lot like playing Bloxorz. I did find it really hard to tell where the 1 was if it got out of view. I think with some quality of life updates and more intricate puzzles this has potential :)

Developer(+1)

And I a will do my best to incorporate any feedback I received so far :) Thank you!

This is a neat concept! Were the levels generated? It felt that way to me, in that case why would you end it after 5 levels? Let me play more! Also, the game sometimes tanked in performance for about 10 seconds at a time, which is pretty odd considering it has a very simple and clean look.

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Yes they were generated but based on different rule sets for each level, which was hand written. In the final game I will probably craft hand made levels anyway :)

Sorry about the performance hit. Is already fixed!

Submitted(+1)

I never thought rolling dice would be so hard hahaha. I found the concept very interesting. Good work!

Developer

Right? I'll see how I can ramp up the challenge even more in the proper game :) Thank you!

If possible, rate my game too :)

Cool puzzle game, and very interesting take on the theme! More interesting graphics or sounds might add to the satisfaction when you beat a level. I could see this being developed further into a full game :)

Developer

Agreed! I have this idea about a level transition, where the whole game basically is a tower and you always fall one floor below onto the next level. Mixed with nice vfx, sfx etc. of course.  Thank you!

Interesting puzzle game. It allows a lot diferent combinations of puzzles.

Probably it's because my laptop was using the iGPU, but the overall performance was a bit poor, it's not really an isue, but it's true that that generated a bit of input lag.

Nice work!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I will work on the performance issue as well (I found the culprit already, silly mistake). Hope it did not distract too much from the experience. If anything, it should give you more time to think hehe :P

Good idea. Saw the similar game at the Mark's stream yesterday. I am surprised that there are so many unique ideas made by different people) I'd recommend to you to look at more hand-made levels rather than randomly generated. And make some indication of where 1 is (first thing I think of is a light beam from 1, so you can see it even if it's on the opposite side of dice). Good luck!

Developer

Thank you for playing!  Certainly a few things I could have done to improve visibility. On the other hand, I think it is quite common knowledge that two opposite sides always equal to 7 and I kind like that idea of having people doing a little bit of math as well. However, I will implement a camera rotation to mitigate this.

Great game! I've already played a similar one which suprises me as it is not an idea I would have thought of easily. The game has nice graphics and is fun! It would be great if you added some sound effects if you expanded on on the game (and you should)! Overall really good game!

Developer

I will most definitely expand on it :) I already got some good feedback (yours included!) and together with my ideas, there is some good potential.

Very original game!! I love it when regular board game components are used in creative ways! I also like how you put thought into the levels and carefully set up the special tiles to encourage players to really think it through.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback :)  Glad you enjoyed it!  There is more to come

39,615 was my final score. Is that good or bad?! Cool idea! Would have maybe liked a bit more to the UI since it's quite bland but - it's a game jam entry so, no negative points because of that. Maybe a bit of feedback for completing the levels / failing etc? I'm assuming you had that stuff planned but ran out of time so again, not a big issue. Good job!

Developer

It's definitely not a bad score :) The rating currently is based on number of turns and in which level you are in. So if you have a lot of turns, you may want to have them rather in an earlier level. That is all very limited balancing of course, due to time constraints. I understand your points about feedback, UI, etc. and yes, that is all correct.

Thank you for playing!

Will do :)

Watched this on stream too actually! Graphics are silky smooth! Nice concept! It would make a really addicting app game. Would love to see this fleshed out more too!

Developer

Thank you!

Keep your eyes open in the upcoming months :)

Oh will do! Excited!

Nice puzzle game.

Developer

Thanks!

Cool and original concept. It would be nice to see more variety in game's levels and mechanics but the overall premise is interesting.

That game has a good potential and it was fun to play :)

Developer

Thank you very much :)

I'll do my best to keep motivation up and improve on it.

A pretty good idea which is similar to the game YODO and it's great as it's a great idea. I like controls, camera angle and some additional cells on the level. However, there are a lack of UI and I don't like procedural levels for puzzle games. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good for a jam. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback. I think the procedural was due to time constraints. Given more time I will probably be able to come up with nice level ideas that I can try out and balance against each other. I have plenty of ideas already for mechanics, level structures etc. so I might stick with it actually and turn it into something more.

Submitted(+1)

I completely under stand the problem of a good level desing for a jam game. But you did it well, as you made a fine difficulty curve.

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool, concept works well enough. I think i'd like to see some handcrafted levels to really push the design to its limits. Nice work!

Developer

You have been heard :) Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Cool concept and cool level design :)

Unfortunately we had a similar idea, check it if you want  https://theophilegarnier.itch.io/youonlydiceonce

Developer

I did already and commented on the very bottom :)

Oh i didn't see it ! -_-
