Cool and original concept. It would be nice to see more variety in game's levels and mechanics but the overall premise is interesting.

That game has a good potential and it was fun to play :)

Developer

Thank you very much :)

I'll do my best to keep motivation up and improve on it.

A pretty good idea which is similar to the game YODO and it's great as it's a great idea. I like controls, camera angle and some additional cells on the level. However, there are a lack of UI and I don't like procedural levels for puzzle games. Nonetheless, it's a pretty good for a jam. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback. I think the procedural was due to time constraints. Given more time I will probably be able to come up with nice level ideas that I can try out and balance against each other. I have plenty of ideas already for mechanics, level structures etc. so I might stick with it actually and turn it into something more.

I completely under stand the problem of a good level desing for a jam game. But you did it well, as you made a fine difficulty curve.

Submitted(+1)

Pretty cool, concept works well enough. I think i'd like to see some handcrafted levels to really push the design to its limits. Nice work!

Developer

You have been heard :) Thanks for playing!

Cool concept and cool level design :)

Unfortunately we had a similar idea, check it if you want  https://theophilegarnier.itch.io/youonlydiceonce

Developer

I did already and commented on the very bottom :)

Oh i didn't see it ! -_-

Great game, small bug tho, sometimes the mine will spawn on top of the goal

Developer(+1)

Thank you! That bug is fixed in a new version which I am not allowed yet to upload. If someone is interested, let me know and I will send it your way.

Really cool concept and fun to play! This was the first game jam game that I finished, lol!
But I didn't quite understand the purpose of those blue tiles, can you explain?

Developer

Yes I can ! (Failed to write up in game instructions). The blue tiles limit your direction in which you can leave them. So if you look at the arrow direction on them, you can only leave in that direction. The idea was to have the random generator occasionally create traps so if you use them you would end up in a mine or something or simply to mess with your strategy because here you cannot go up for example. Makes sense?Thank you for playing :)

Submitted

Oh, yeah yeah,  it does make sense! Welcome!

Interesting puzzle game! Reminds me of rubics cubes :) Creative concept. Nice!

In the first level I thought the 1 had to be the face facing up.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :)  I was struggling with that decision for a bit to be honest. But having the 1 facing up would not really fit the team any more I think.

A tiny but nice puzzle game.
Thanks for making it, nice work!

Developer

Thank you for playing it :)

Submitted(+1)

Great Game! It has a good progression in its challenge and reminds me of this game I played on mobile. Keep up the great work!

Developer

Thank you, kind words!

You happen to know that game's name?

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoy

Developer

Glad you liked it.

I had a similar idea with the same mechanic but ended up dropping it. Glad to see yours worked out so well. Balancing is kinda hard with games but I don't think it was too bad. I made a cube puzzle game as well if you want to check it out. https://thatguyty.itch.io/the-cube-html

Developer

Thank you for checking mine out :) It's always nice to see people think alike somewhat. Happy to see you came up with something else regardless and did not drop it entirely!

Pretty cool idea :) The lacking challenge was already mentioned below. I would probably restrict the moove count per level as the score itself is not really incentive enough. I would also make the camera rotatable for better overview and to know where the one on the die is atm :)

Developer (1 edit)

Good points, yup :)

Also thought about a life system, otherwise hitting the mines is also not punishment enough (it does reduce score though)

Thank you for playing the game and for the feedback especially.

(+1)

Did not even try to roll onto the mines :D

Developer

Good call :P There were not designed to look inviting.

Submitted(+1)

Really solid start to a fun game. I like the way you put a spin on the theme

Developer

Hehe thank you :) That was the goal here, right?  Plenty of thoughts about how I could develop this further.

Submitted(+1)

Liked the game! it lacks of challenge and gameplay mechanics but the base idea is good!

Developer

Thank you!

If you have any thoughts about how to make it more challenging, please let me know.

You will probably need to restrict the level more, I usually rotate around in a square in front of the goal until I have the one dice at the right position. Prevent this from happening (narrow corridor with some restricted movement). Think the level as a puzzle and then make it. If you have more than one solution each time (like 2 or 3) it's even better :)

Developer(+1)

I was thinking about removing each tile that you have visited and then I figured maybe the score is enough incentive to not do any wild rotations. It definitely needs some rethinking in the challenge department, but I appreciate the feedback

Original game  (even if i don't find it fun ) it fits theme and is interesting

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate the honesty.

Any thoughts what would make it more fun for you personally?

Submitted(+1)

make some some funny tiles that push your dice or make the dice jump etc.. i don't know

Developer

yeah something like that should be manageable and improve the game a lot.

Submitted(+1)

Love the concept, great puzzle game :)

Developer

Thank you very much! :)

Pretty game! Great idea! I liked the game progression. It starts easy and become harder after each level! Congrats

Developer

Thank you for playing! Feel free to post me a link to your entry here.

Pretty fun. I remember a block game on miniclip that was a similar idea to this so I was able to pick it up pretty well. Having a die instead was a nice spin on that idea.

Right now the game seems very easy, I think in the future you would have to try and encourage the player to use the stage gimmicks more or make the stages smaller/unique/restrictive.

But overall this was good and showed the concept well imo.

Developer

Thank you for playing :)

I agree with your words, I suppose I can blame the time frame :) I do have a few nice ideas to blow this into something bigger and how to make the stage gimmicks a bit more of a threat that you need to puzzle around.

Lovely entry man! Great use of random generations! Good length too!

Developer

Thanks man! Glad you liked it.

Submitted(+1)

It's a puzzle with a cube, with nice graphics and you did it in 48 hours. I'm sure it was very difficult so I congratulate you. But it doesn't fit the theme for me.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing!

Out of curiosity, may I ask why it does not fit the theme for you? You will only advance a level when you hit the target tile with the "1". Perhaps that was not communicated clearly enough?
