How does your game fit the theme?
The core gameplay mechanic is that you can't control when to shoot; the player automatically shoots a constant stream and it's up to you to make sure it hits the right people (and avoids the wrong people)!

Thanks for playing, glad it's weird enough for ya ;)

This felt really satisfying to play! A unique game for sure, I liked the game design and really enjoyed playing this! great job!

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate it :)

Really fun game :) I love both top down shooters and pies, so you're off to a good start haha. The design of the levels are really well done and the difficluty ramps up at a nice pace :) Art style is simple yet effective. With a bit of polish this could be a really fun little game :) I hope you carry on development after the jam ends! Great job :)

Developer

Thanks, glad you liked it! I'm so happy the difficulty curve worked out so well, and yeah I spent a lot of time on level design so I'm glad that worked out :D

Yeah if I updated this in the future, I'd add just a bit more polish like environment art and more particle effects. Originally I was going to have it on a street but since I'm a one man team and this is my first jam I didn't have the time so I focused on gameplay instead :)

Thanks for playing, I'm so glad you decided to check out my game! :D

Just finished to play it. I had fun! Levels are well balanced, hard enough to spend time on it but easy enough to not get mad at it. The game fits well the theme as the pie throwing is out of control.
Talking about controls, it was really intuitive to understand how to play.

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! I'm really glad the difficulty curve worked out for you, that was one of the biggest things I worked on and the biggest thing I stressed out about while making this game. Thanks for taking the time to play my game! :D

The click to move movement felt good! and the low poly 3d levels and models looked great!  Sound was awesome too~ Great job making this in just 48hours. Congrats on submitting a cool game to the jam! Please check out mine if you haven't :D

Developer

Thank you! I will get on that :)

Fun Gameplay!

Suggestion - the NPCs are very small, you could zoom in the camera for a better visiblity.

Nice Job!

Developer

Try playing it in fullscreen! The issue with zooming in is that you can't see where the pies go after you shoot them, it's a balancing act because if the pie goes off screen and hits something it's super frustrating. Fullscreen is recommended if you have trouble seeing!

Submitted(+1)

I think the visibility of which NPCs are bystanders or not could be improved, but overall I thought this was a cute concept, I had fun xD

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! Have you tried fullscreen? It's recommended if you have trouble seeing, or try downloading too :)

Wow this is an extremely solid game, and in only 48 hours!? The level design is really great and a bunch a levels were really difficult (specifically the last one) but were all really good. I love the iteration on nonstop shooting games, and I think the presentation is really great. Amazing job on this one, great work!

Developer

Thank you! Yup, 48 hours solo and my first one :)

Thank you so much!

Had a really great time playing it, Good Job !

Developer

Thank you! :D

Loved it, funny concept, which the sound effects supported as well. Difficulty curve is also good, the levels really test your ability to know the timing and not swing the cursor around wildly.

Developer

YAY! Glad you liked it, I'm really glad you liked the sound effects :)

And the difficulty curve comment is a huge relief, I was a little worried!

Very fun game, althought difficult it was very memorable.
Also I enjoyed the sounds especially the music rhythm matching the pie output. Good job!

Developer

Thanks! Hope you had fun. :)

Really good game ! The level design is sometimes a little hard (especially when blues and reds move too close), but the game is funny and I enjoyed it (like when people say “yay” x)). Good job !

Developer

Glad you liked it! Yeah, I wanted the game to be pretty hard, I hope it's still fun. :)

Thanks for the compliments! :)

A brilliant pacifist take on the uncontrollable shooter.   I love the assets and the mechanics the implementation was flawless.   I had an amazingly fun time playing.   Thank you for making this :)

Developer

Wow, thank you so much!! That's really nice to hear for me :)

I'm so grateful for your positive words, this made my first game jam even better :D

Really fun take on auto shooting / bad controls. Sadly, from level 2, I find the camera too far from the action and the customer you need to deliver the pie to isn't that much recognisable.

p.s.: took a second shot at it fullscreen and it was more readable.
p.p.s.: I YAY'd every one of those customers. PIED. :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing in fullscreen! It really gives you the full experience, I wish there was a way to force fullscreen for WebGL (maybe there's a way and I just don't know about it, if so let me know!!). It's really best downloaded, but I wanted people to rate it more so I also put it playable on web.

And yay!!! Customers pied. Thanks for playing :)

This is probably the funniest Jam game I've played so far for this year, and it's really fun too! My only real complaint is that the "click to move" controls aren't explained anywhere as far as I could tell, so I had to look  at the comments to figure that out.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it! :)

Yeah, maybe I could have been a little more clear about the controls, but on the other hand I also wanted the player to experiment as well. I thought that mouse-only controls would be somewhat intuitive? I guess I should've added a hint or something in the game. Thanks! :)

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Whilst I have played similar concepts to this one in the jam, your theme is great and this is very playable. Great job! Nice job with the audio too!

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I figured there were going to be a gazillion entries with "you can't control your gun!!" so I decided to take the pie route for originality. We don't need another shooter game, why not spice things up a bit with the theme? :) I also tried to have the mouse controls be original as well, since you have to move by clicking on a spot and yet can't shoot at certain things, even if you have to move in that direction.
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it :)

Excellent entry! I'm jealous of the good pathfinding! Props to you for making a game about a pie-robot when it could have easily been about a murder robot. Pies are better!

Developer(+1)

I totally agree, pies are the best :)

And thanks for the compliments, I really like Unity's built-in pathfinding system 😅

Submitted

Ah, another reason I should probably try to learn Unity!

Developer(+1)

I really like it, and I chose it since I normally do a lot of 3D or 2.5D games. I'm not a 2D artist by any stretch of the imagination. Also C# is pretty easy to learn!

How's Game Maker Studio? I notice that's what your fantastic game was made with.

Submitted(+1)

I like GameMaker Studio a lot! It's super useful as a solo-programmer but I'm not sure it shines in group projects.  I use the 1.4999 version because I'm a little set in my ways. I don't know how GMS2 is with 3d or 2.5d games but 1.x Game Maker stops short of Doom in terms of 3D capabilities. Would absolutely recommend it for 2D projects though!
I'm a self taught programmer (English major haha) and I'm trying to expand my knowledge base a little bit. I think Unity is the next thing I'd like to learn but I've never done a "real" programming language before!

Submitted(+1)

Oh nice, wasn't expecting pathfinding ^^

Developer

Haha yeah, thanks to Unity for the built-in pathfinding system :)

Submitted(+1)

This was a fun little game. Doing full screen really did help make the game easier. Keep up the good work :) - Deer.

Developer

Awesome! Glad you liked it, and thanks for playing in fullscreen ;)

Submitted(+1)

Really awesome concept, I like how the constant shooting makes it harder to move around and you really get a sense of dread when you realize you've sent a pie directly in the path of a bystander and you just have to watch helplessly. Really sells the theme and has some excellent sound design to boot. Nice work.

Developer

Thank you! It's always nice to get positive feedback! I'm so glad, this is exactly the kind of stuff I wrote down on paper and I'm glad all the game design came through to real life! :)
