That was great, I loved how you used the background colour as health. First time it switched I was wondering what it went but when it was red I completely understood. Also those Centaurs, where very difficult to kill XD

Thanks for playing!

Solid design. I love the life-color system and the minimalist graphic design overall.

Maybe you could design some enemy with more agility? I tend the just roll in circle waiting for the enemies to be packed.

Developer

The chasing algorithm needs more work and some rethinking. We'll work on it post-jam. Thanks for playing and your feedback!

Real solid design and imediately fun to pickup and play, I really enjoyed this one, the enemy variety made this quite engaging, and added some strategy to it with having to prioritize targets and plan escape routes to survive, The way you displayed the player's health is also pretty unique.

There's really quite a lot on display behind the minimalist aestetic, shame there's no sound or music (but hey for a jam that's understandable ^^) but with just that to add you got quite some game already !

Definitively Congrats ! :)

I really like the interplay of enemy behaviors and movement abilities, looking forward to try this again when the PS4 pad fix is implemented but it felt pretty smart to corral the enemies before releasing the keys.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks! That'll be our priority post-jam. About the corralling: that was a natural consequence of removing one of the sticks. One of the enemies is designed with the idea in mind (the Centaur).

Interesting design and well made, a fun little game for sure, great job! :)

Developer

Thank you!

Good design! Unfortunately it didn't work with my PS4 gamepad, and keyboard control is crude. I guess it would work better with a mouse control.

Developer

Updated the game's page to warn about issues with the PS4 controller. Thanks for the feedback!

This was pretty challenging, but very enjoyable! WASD is definitely harder to use, but not impossible. Great job!

Really neat game, but for the amount of enemies on screen i would have liked to have more health than just 3 hits.

Developer (1 edit)

I wish I had more time to playtest. We'll balance things out post-jam. Thanks for the feedback!

Really fun and I like how you have to start making choices of which type of enemy you need to prioritize first

Developer

Got lucky that the enemy design worked as well as it did, because I really didn't have enough time to playtest.

i really like this one. it's simple, fun and adheres to the theme pretty well!

Thank you!

The Prewave introduction to the enemys was great, I could learn how to fight them before being throw into a horde of them. This game has been the best presented ive played as for as tutorialization goes in the entire jam so far. Great overall

Developer

Thanks! Speaking of "tutorialization": what do you think about the invisible tutorial on the main menu? ;)

Submitted(+1)

do you mean having to shoot the start button cause that was quite good, having the play required to interact with the basic action of the game before they can start is a great way to get players started.

It's like when in a platformer you have to jump to hit the start button, really good stuff

Really neat game, interesting mechanics and enemy design!

I like the color change when you get hurt. It's simple but it works well. Good job :D

I also made a little video compilation of games from the game jam and you're in it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mJWndlAIwk

Awesome!
I'm gonna give your game a try :)

A very good example of a game where the simplicity enhances the experience. It's a game that is immediately understandable, even when new elements are introduced. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! "Immediately understandable" is what we must strive for as game designers :)

Really cool game! I Enjoyed the different patterns of the enemies! and it gets difficult pretty fast. Missed the sound a lot :( ! Great job!

Thanks for checking our game!

Developer

No problem ;) Thanks for playing!

A great game! I find it difficult to play using WSAD, but I believe it would be great with an actual stick! I like how you used letters as enemies!

If you'd like to check ours: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463231

Developer

Thanks! "Letters as enemies" was a "happy accident" which worked excellently.
