Absolutely phenomenal, feels exceptionally good to play with gorgeous 'juice' 10/10 thematically interesting and consistent, this one I will probably be playing for a while (seriously if you add a little more to this you could release it on mobile no problem)

(also thanks for the art of our game, i showed the rest of the devs and they very happy because of it)

Sorry for the post-results response, but thank you very much! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game, and it's real nice of you to say you'll maybe play it again!

This one is simple, but also really fun! Great work! The game actually reminds me of one of my older projects ^^

Developer

Sorry for the post-results response, but thank you for playing! And I took a quick look at that older project, and it is pretty dang similar! Nice work, though! I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Cool little game! It does exactly what it needs to do and does it well. I don't know if the increased difficulty while the game progressed was intentional, but it was cool. It felt like I was learning how it worked and applying it dynamically, and it had a great flow state. I wish there was just a litttlllleee bit more content, but I appreciate how polished and tested it feels. Great work on this.

Developer

Sorry for the post-results response, but thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed playing the game! The difficulty increasing was actually intentional, I'm glad you noticed! Not to ruin the illusion for ya, but it isn't that advanced I'm afraid! I would love to figure out how to do adaptive difficulty, though! Apologies that there wasn't much more to play, I would've added an endless mode if there had been time!

Ok, firstly, best Itch.io game thumbnail.

Secondly, great scheme of doing the fanart and playing/rating games - a really nice gesture for everyone (hopefully it isn't stressful for you to do over 213 bits of art for others alongside playing their games, wow that's a lot of games and art, big kudos!)

Thirdly, freaking great game that kept me smiling throughout! Really nice Only One™ theme usage with the only one button (this really made me feel as cool as I did back in the Miniclip days with Gravity Guy!! gosh that game was good, thank you for modernising that nostalgia into a fun package!) as well as the presentation - clear, simple to understand with a good difficulty curve!

Also, nice idea with the highest score/voltage being 1. Makes sense, and it's Only One™!

Sound design and game feel really effective here. If you get around to making a mobile port of this, please let me know, I'll download it!

Just wondering, is this game procedurally generated or is it a set level?

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks so much for playing the game, bud! And glad you like the mess of a thumbnail. :P

Doing the bad fan art is just really fun, and it happens to make people happy! Beyond stress that I wouldn't get around to everyone, it wasn't stressful. :D

I'm super glad to hear that you liked the game! I wasn't sure I'd done enough with the Only One™ theme, so I'm glad you think I've used it well! And I'm happy to hear that the difficulty curve has gone down alright, as well as the sound design and game feel. I tried to spend a fair bit of time making the game look, sound, and feel good considering its simplicity in gameplay!

And it's kind of just randomly generated - here's the code that spawns the platforms! It takes place in alarm[0] on the level handler object I made. Hopefully, you can also figure out how I did the difficulty curve from this!:

Best thumbnail of the jam.

Developer

many thanks, i put lots of thyme and F-ert (because i lost a lotta respecc) into it

This was fun! I liked how polished your game looked, and the story, albeit simple, was also nice! Good job :)

Developer

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and liked the story!

Good job, maybe i like less shine =D

Developer

Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. :D

Finally got around to playing this after you did that glorious fan art for Einnsámr! You definitely didn't give yourself enough credit when you mentioned your game, it's really good. If there was a game feel rating, this would have 5 stars. Pressing that spacebar felt great, and your simple color scheme really communicated what was going on. Very easy to pick up and understand!

I would definitely get the timer and charge meters out of the middle of the screen, that really blocks the flow of the game. they could sit really nicely horizontally adjacent at the top of the screen I think.

But seriously, be proud of this, I genuinely had fun with it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm real happy to hear you enjoyed the game! And I appreciate the feedback about the timer and the charge meter, that's definitely something I'd change in an updated version of the game. Thanks for trying the game out, and I'm still really glad you like the fan art!

Remember what i said on discord! Less respawn delay! Otherwise it's fantastic.

Although, sometimes i did fall into some holes that give you no time to jump again (which can be quite frustrating)

adding some coyote time would be perfect, IMO! just a few frames!

Developer(+1)

Thanks again for checking out the game, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! And I appreciate the feedback, too - less respawn delay is totally reasonable and doable, and apologies about the holes with no time to jump again. I knew about those, but no matter what pattern of platform length and spawn timing I tried to set up, there were always holes like that. And also about coyote time, I tried to add that! But... uh, spaghetti code refused to let it work, so I'm sorry about that, too. Thanks again!

Although simple, it was really well polished and responsive (many games like this mess up this one basic concept). Got 0.96 volts, so close! Nice main menu tutorial.

Thanks for the drawing! :)

Developer

Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and that you noticed the built-in menu teaching moment! And that is so close - don't worry, though, been there many times during testing, I feel your pain. :P

And no problem about the drawing! It was a blast to do. :D

Really great game, simple but satisfying. Got a lot of good game juice, could definitely see this being a mobile game on the market.

Well done :D

Fantastically addictive game! The game mechanic is deceivingly clever; I thought it'll be easy to beat, but I spent quite some time trying to get to that elusive 1 second. Even though I failed multiple times, I thought it was fair... I get panicky as soon as the bars get shorter, and I have to resist the urge to press the space bar at the end of every bar, because sometimes one just wants to fly off in the same direction.  The graphics are clean, and emphasizes the gameplay.  The thud sound, particle effects, and screen shake gives the game oomph! The music sets the ambience just right. You've got a winner here buddy! Well done! :)

You've got all my stars.. all the stars...!! :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your comment, it's brightened up my night! I'm just really happy to hear your experience with it, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I don't have many other words to say beyond just thank you! :D

What an addictive game! Mechanics are juicy, music is catchy XD

Leaderboard will make it even addictive XD

If you're going to update the game, we think it will be great to have more obstacles as well as power up & collectibles

Developer

Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed the game, and I'll take that feedback and the suggestions on board!

Hey, I played & beat this game both by surviving and by gathering 100 volts! Here's my feedback:

I absolutely love the attention to detail in this game. Each time you hit a tile, the screen slightly shakes, everything (including the background) shifts color to match the charge, and the little cube changes charge sign as well. This is a nice twist on classic phone games, like Gravity Guy (and could actually make a pretty good ios/android game). Also liked the error messages like 404: electrodud not found (nice twist on a common error haha). Oh, and the background is very simple, but quite awesome. It'd been nice to also see other electroduds jumping up & down in the background tiles. Would've made sense with the game's theme and would've been a nice detail for someone to realize.

I think moving the volt count and the survival timer to another part of the screen would be way better. While playing, I was kind of bothered by how much of the center of the screen both of them occupied. I understand that you want the top to be free, but perhaps having a top bar for this would be better. On the timer: I really think there should be a way to tell the time without having to explicitly look at the number. I'm too busy focusing on not dying/maximizing my score while playing, so I had a rough time gazing away to see how much time I had left. I think speeding up the music or changing the color/making the timer blink faster and faster when running out of time would be way better.

Oh, and I found a slight bug: the music won't loop in games that take place after the player wins (won by timer the first time and this happened).

Overall, amazing job, I had a very good time playing your game!

Developer

Thank you very much for the detailed feedback! And I'm real glad to hear you enjoyed the game! Believe it or not, I was going to add other electroduds bouncing around in the background, but simply ran out of time to animate it with the background. And that's a completely fair and valid complaint about the UI block. Even I didn't like where I placed it, but I couldn't think of anything else to do. I also tried to make it slightly transparent, so it wouldn't be as much of a focal point (y'know, compensating for an already bad choice), but my code was so filled with spaghetti that it didn't work. And fair call on there needing to be more indication of how much time is left without looking at the timer. And finally, thank you for pointing out that bug - I know exactly what caused it just from thinking about the code, and am now internally face-palming.

Thank you very much for your time playing this game!

Truly engaging game. I love the design and the simple gameplay.

Thank you very much for trying it out! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it!

A pretty simple, but fun game wich is very polished. Sounds, "character" movement, chamera shaking, they're perfect, the only thing I don't like is the window with timer.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for the feedback! I'm glad you liked the game! If you can tell me more specifically what about the window with the timer you don't like, I'd really appreciate it!

Submitted(+1)

I just don’t like a big window in the middle of a display, which distracts me and interferes from watching the route.

Developer

That's a completely fair and valid complaint, my bud. Thank you for the feedback, and I'll try to find better ways to display the information if I continue development of this game!

Submitted(+1)

This one is one of my favorites for sure! Very simple challenging and satisfying!

Developer

Thank you so much, that's very nice of you to say! I'm glad you've enjoyed your time playing it!

Love the feeling of the game, the music and it kept me attach to the screen for more than I would like to admit. Great Job!!!
