Hmmm, I can't seem to proceed to the second level... I destroy that first tank and the game just sits there, am I missing something?

Developer(+1)

The first level is just the tutorial. Press E to move on to the next level.

Submitted

Ahhh press E, gotchya!

Hey, got through a few levels now, very cool game! It's fun to see another tactics game in the jam. I thought the healing was really critical and felt like a smart addition.

Developer

Thank you! I think that simplicity is the only way I could make a good game in 48 hours.

I love the aesthetics and portraits! However, the controls are quite cumbersome for me. I'd welcome to have "E" bound to same action as return key, so that I can play with one hand.

Developer

Thank you! The controls definitely need some working on!

Submitted(+1)

Really cool, love these kind of puzzle games. Gonna play some more of it later ;)

Developer

Thank you so much! I hope you get to finish it!

This is a pretty fun tank game, I got a strong Advance Wars wibe from this one

Developer

Thank you! I loved Advanced Wars growing up so I decided to pull from it for the aesthetic!

This game is really fun! I like the strategy involved with the game. Trying to plan your moves around your enemy's moves is great! I did get a bit stuck once I'd finished the first level. How do you move to the next one?

On a side note, the picture of the engineer looks like my grandma in the 1940s. Where did you find those photos?

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! The picture is actually of American WW2 spy Claire Maybelle Snyder.

Then I guess the low resolution is tricking my brain.

Thanks for the fun game.

Fun game that I really enjoyed once I got into the strategy part of it. My only real complaint is that the intro makes it so it takes awhile to get into the game. It would've have been nice if clicking displayed the entire text (skipping the scrolling) instead of skipping to the next section of text.

Developer

Thank you so much!! The intro is pretty long, I should have made it more brief.

Love the 80's vibes :)

Old school is best school!

Amazing game! Rated as one of the best.

Developer

That means so much! Thank you!!

I really enjoyed the game! The only thing that got kinda annoying was when I accidently selected a wrong move, got shot and had to replay the entire level.

Developer

Thank you Psychpsyo! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I tried to make the restart time very fast so you can quickly jump back in and try again!

Control is more difficult than looks, but game is awesome! Pixel graphic are cute!

Great work!

Developer

I really appreciate that! I'm no artist so I spend maybe a little too much time making the assets, but it turned out nice I think!

Nice job! Easy to understand, but hard to master.

Developer

Thank you BobGames1215! I'm glad you enjoyed your experience with it!

I don't usually like strategy games......But this was one I found particularly interesting. Very good overall. Especially with sticking to the theme since you allowed only one-action at a time

Developer

Thank you! I tried to bring the strategy feel into the puzzle world if that makes any sense.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Quite easy at the start, but it goes up quickly to something more interesting.

Controls are a little too rigid (using a combinaison or direction and action in one motion may have been simpler), but overall, good job!

Ps: The sound of the text in the intro is a little too loud...

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely be tweaking the audio and adding options for it. As for the controls, I have noticed that they are not the most straight forward and easy to use so I will be testing out different ways of improving on them.

nice game! i liked your take on the theme, you worked out an interesting mechanic. i would have liked it if the controls were a bit more simplified and perhaps some limitations to your actions but those are minor things for a jam game.  it got interesting around the end where you had to figure out the how the enemy tanks work to progress.

Developer

Thanks gustav_k! I agree, the controls could have been made simpler or at least explained better. I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

Very nice execution! I love the art and animations.
It's a nice puzzle game (although I'm not very good at it :D). First I didn't see the theme in there, but then read that "you can only take one action at each turn" and realised how different this game would be if you could do like a move AND shoot/repair. Interesting concept and the controls are easy to get used to.
It was fun, great game!

Developer(+1)

I really appreciate that! It was basically answering the question "what if you played a turn-based strategy but you only had one dude to control and he only had one AP (action point)?" And that's what came out of it :)

Submitted(+1)

Really well made! Nice

Developer

Thanks Hamezii!

Quite simple and nice turn-based tactics with puzzle twist) Good luck!

Developer

Thank you, good luck to you as well!

Woah, you must have worked the full 48 hours! Really well put together. Reminds me of Into the Breach.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I worked solo so I had to stay up for about 45 hours to get it done!

Submitted(+1)

Good work. I'm impressed by how many levels you managed to put together within 48 hours! Feels like a pretty complete puzzle game. At first I thought the last level was impossible, before I figured out the trick to it... very nice.

Feedback 1: I think as soon as you highlight an action type, you should get the move preview before you choose a direction. (For example, as soon as you press 1, you should get a white square in front of you; 2 a red line...). At the start I was pretty confused about why the action I selected wasn't triggering, and only after a minute did I realize I had to choose a direction too, so this would be a visual cue.

Feedback 2: On many levels, a winning strategy is to stay parked at the start location and just shoot at anyone who drives toward you. The mechanics tend to reward staying still and shooting, because you outrange the enemies and moving gives them a chance to shoot first. It would be nice if more of the puzzles force you into a proactive approach. (Some of them definitely did).

Developer

I'm really happy that you enjoyed it!!

I totally agree that there should be a preview system for the moves. I've noticed that other people also tend to be confused why their selection didn't work. As for not moving I think I need to spend a lot more time in level design to make sure that staying still and shooting is not always the go to strategy.

Thank you so much for the feedback!
