A lovely top-down shooter! It certainly touched my arachnophobic strings :D

Nice game, I enjoy bouncing shots off walls to kill enemies. One hp makes it pretty unforgiving.

Amazing game ^-^

Oh, Wow! You made this using a framework(MonoGame) in 48 hours!

Developer(+1)

Yep! And judging by the amount of replies to our post (https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/topic/528197/any-monogame-games), there weren't many others, who did :P

It was both a first jam and first released game for all of us (and first contact with C# for half of our team, though no one had any real experience with it), so we weren't sure what to use. Unity is obviously the obvious choice for many, and I advertised Godot to our team, as I had heard great things about it, but having little experience with either, we finally decided to go for Monogame, as we expect to have some contact with C# in the future (all of us are IT or CS students), and we felt that trying to learn engine-specific things we'd need to actually push something out would take us more time, than trying to figure things out our way, as we go... So we ended up doing just that! ;)

Neat game! It's fun and interesting and the controls are good.

Nice work!

Cool, this game looks pretty polished! The one bullet theme is pretty popular, so I am glad to see an entry that does it so well! Maybe add some screenshake on hits, some music and you've got your hands on a great game!

Hi there! I really like the adherence to the theme here, the one bullet. I have played many games with this theme but the type of enemies (very original btw) make alot different... Now I didn't really like the 1 Life though, even if it is adherent to the theme, it just was frustating replaing everything because of one silly little death... I like the retro style and the retro sound effects. Very cool! Great job with this game!

Would love if you could check mine out too! Or not, no pressure ;) :

I really like the style of this game, the minimalist graphics are great!

I tried to get to the boss but kept dying on the same level, which is the one where the enemies spawn that shoot stuff at you. I'm not sure the "only one" life thing adds much to the design of the game, it more just frustrated me to have to start again. The one bullet thing is implemented very well though.

Thank you for playing!

About the difficulty, I definitely agree. The "only one" life thing wasn't really a priority. The truth is we were running out of time so we decided to drop lives and try balancing what we had made up to this point... That may have been a mistake :). Oh well, there is always next time.

I think there's often more we can learn from making mistakes than doing things perfectly, and a GameJam is a perfect time to do some learning!

I saw this game streamed! Glad to get to play it now! Visuals are nice and I love the name! Concept has been done a few times but yours still has elements to set it apart! Cool game!

Would love if you could check mine out too! Or not, no pressure ;) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462672?after=20#post-876644

Hi cool idea, similar to other titles I've seen in this Jam but very unique. I like the fact that the projectile bounces, maybe it would have been good to increase the speed and bounce of it?

Here's mine if you can spare some time playing it. Many Thanks:

Yeah, looking at other reviews as well, it seems like adding some speed on bounce is a pretty obvious idea we overlooked :P If we develop the game further after the jam it's probably gonna be one of the first things to add. Thanks for the feedback, gonna check out your game in a bit

The game is fun, but sometimes a little frustrating. Maybe a different animation could be used when you hit an enemy that has more than 1 hp. Sometimes I thought I killed them and died because of it. With a little more polish it could be a really good game! I'd suggest you kept working on it

Developer

Yeah, when we added enemies with more than 1 hp, we decided to use the same code and animation for invulnerability frames after being hit as for spawning (which is the fade-in effect when they first appear), and I must admit, it can be a bit hard to read in intense situations. The game generally lacks some polish we wish we had time to add,  but we're still really proud of how it turned out. Glad you liked it!

Suits the theme well. Some music would be nice :)

Submitted

Nicely done! the pacing is a bit slow, it would be cool to give the bullet more bounce, so you can get it back by bouncing it around the map.

Submitted

Simple, small but a good game that has a greater potential.

It would be nice to see more mechanics or more variety added to the levels.

A pleasant experience :)

Nicely implemented. I liked the enemy design, a pretty solid entry here, I reckon.
