Wow, really impressive! I love what you did with the art and the music choices. An especially great use of the free assets given away for the jam. I think this game is a great advertisement for the AGS engine, which I don't think most people even think of when it comes to game jams. Kudos to you on a job well done!
I did run into a strange bug where the statue wouldn't continue to move after it came over the wall. I spent a shameful amount of time trying to figure out how to get the pink bunny on the roof to let me into the lower area of Downtown and checking out different areas for entrances, until eventually I just restarted and was able to get it to reach the button and see the ending. (I'm pretty bad at these point-and-clicks.)
Great game and hope to see more from you in the future!
Means a lot you enjoyed exploration in the game! I might try to add it to the AGS website later ☺️..
The statue bug I have a note on it too, haha! The bottom floor walking area is one or two pixel smaller than the top one (I just eyeballed everything, haha) and if you don't touch the statue all way to the side, when it goes down, it has the risk of being stuck outside the bottom walking area 😅... I'll update this after the jam..
I did design the town to have two more NPCs that would give a third puzzle for the battery, but when I realized I overscoped a lot, I had to cut them out, and only added the "graphic" NPCs... Glad you were able to find the button and see the ending!
And there is no being good and bad in these games, it's just having a good time while exploring things ☺️
Again, thank you for taking the time! ✨✨
I don't remember I wrote a comment, but defitely forgot to rate your game for some reason. Seems like I played before voting. It's still awesome)
Thank you so much! Happy you had a great experience! ✨
Well, you know what you are doing. That was a pleasure to play. Love the pixel art. Love the music and sound design. Most importantly, the pacing and level design were right on. One thing that I though could be improved, but this is not a criticism, just a personal preference, is the jumpy camera movement. I thought that having smoother camera motion would allow me to enjoy the pixel art more. I'm pretty new at game dev and don't know how possible that is. I'm curious about how you made it, specifically, which engine did you use? Thanks for the great experience!
Thank you for the detailed feedback!☺️✨
Yeah, the defaulf fps of the engine is 40, to emulate old games, but I'm almost sure it can be cranked up for a smoother experience... I'll definitely look this up..
The engine I used was "Adventure Game Studio" and it's designed for this genre, while still being flexible for customization..
If you are interested in starting out, this tutorial here is a great inspiration!
I streamed your game
Thank you so much for taking the time, Marcus! Means a lot! ✨✨☺️
Reminds me of old school Sierra/Lucasarts games, love it!
Thank you!
Yeah, I grew up with some of those titles and it was an inspiration, for sure! ☺️
Neat game! Great job on getting all those mechanics and systems in in such a short time. The music was relaxing and fit well to the atmosphere. There is a lot of content in the game for such a short time made by just one person. Awesome work, you have some great talent!
I'm really happy you liked it this much! Thank you so much for the compliment! Time management was hard but I'm happy I made sense out of what I put into..✨☺️
Nice and atmospheric graphics, interesting puzzles, and overall a great vibe. The created world is quite large. You can see a lot of work went into it, and the result is really good. Congratulations.
Thank you so much!
Yeah, that was a lot of work indeed, but it was worth it! Glad you had a good time!
A very interesting game and genre. I think the implementation is very good, and the story also. Liked the music and the teleportation of the character ;-). The UI for the game is very nice and seeps quite polished. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! ✨☺️
Happy you liked it!
Love it when the dust bunny did the dust walk with Tania. Though short, I did feel like I went on an adventure. This was not only a game but also an experience. Thank you for the experience!
Haha, I'm happy you liked the funny reference I put there! And happy you enjoyed the gameplay!
And thank YOU for taking the time to play!
You fit so much in! Really impressive work. I'm not usually one for point and click adventures but I played this to the end. And felt a bit sorry for Coco. I hope they do reunite next year. :)
Happy you liked it this much and was able to enjoy the genre!✨
Happy you saw till the ending!
And same, hope Coco sees Tania soon!!✨☺️
The game was awesome, can tell a lot of work was put into it. I love the 3D assets turned into the 2D pixel art style and the pixel aesthetic overall! My only (small) feedback is I wish I couldve skipped the credits (i couldnt figure out how) because I clicked credits on the main menu and regretted it when I couldnt skip/back out xD. I couldve refreshed the page but sitting through them before playing was the experience I had. Also a small critique given how great the visual aesthetic was everywhere else I found the battery room to be super flat/slightly jarring in the art style - like if you look at the portal room vs it in your screenshots it misses the same charm. In saying that I dont even know how you got the detail everywhere else and for one person this is impressive! Great job on the game ^.^
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback!
Yeah, I prioritized other areas and just added the credits there with an "Esc" button skip.. didn't have time to set up a "speed up" function... Took notes here for an update after the jam 👍.
And makes me really happy you liked my art much more than the premade assets! This game was also a learning process for me, so I wanted to learn better the tool I used to design the level (LDtk) than to have everything beautiful... I indeed had planned initially to have the battery room "handmade" (with pillars resembling Duracell batteries, haha) but that would just take away time to code the puzzle, haha! But art cohesion is something I'll keep an eye for next time ✨☺️
Ohhhh, esc was what I was trying to find. I just didn't think of it because a lot of browser games you can't use esc as the browser loses focus with it. In this case it did work -> To which in future I'd suggest just having permanent text "esc to skip". I've never heard of LDtk but I can understand the priority of diving into new territory xD haha. But keep up the awesome work! ^.^
get out of here.
that was quite challenging.
the challenge was not to feel like a total imposter in face of so much quality.
I barely managed, but I made it and feel okay now. one might even say 'inspired'.
so, thanks for the challenge <3
Haha, thanks for the compliment!
To be honest I just wanted to give it all to a project at least once, since most things I do end up in a drawer because of a 'better idea' and the 'next one'... so being able to finish something was my goal too.. But that came with lots of sacrifices in my end.. haha! My body is feeling it still and my workload piled up is overwhelming... 😅
I'll take a look at yours too ✨💪
Blown away by how much you were able to get done. Feels like I'm playing a full game. Great job.
Thank you so much!! Happy you enjoyed it! 😊✨
I put a lot of love in this project, happy I could make sense with tha assets provided!
well, i am not a big fan of that kind of games but for realy that was really good story telling and the atmosphere the way you play it everything was well made and on point so great job!
Thank you so much!
Yeah, old classic point and click games can be really hard, so I tried to make this one accessible to people as much as possible and signposted everything.. haha
Glad you had a good time with it!
An amazing game! 5/5 from me all the way!
Aw! Thank you so much! Means a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it this much! ✨😊
What an incredible game and sweet story all tied into the theme so nicely! Big thumbs up! Took me a bit to find the crooked sword but I got there. Worth the searching!
Glad you liked it that much! ✨
Yeah, Morello is not super in plain sight, so the player has to walk through the village to check on him... hehe
Glad you made it through the puzzles!
I wish I could have put more characters and cutscenes, but time was really an issue.. haha
Do I need to write something here...
...because tis is one of the best, and I think you know that. Beautifully used assets in a vivid living world. Eyecatching animations with and good ideas. Nearly perfect with one weakness:
The top menubar is too big and I constantly click in the menu accidentally. (but I think this is just my bad habbit)
Great work!
If you have time, please come and check my game.
Have FUN :3
Thank you so much! Means a lot you liked it!
I tried my best to make something cohesive with the asset packs and glad it made sense!
Yeah, the UI was barely touched for priority reasons, but that's something I could tweak after the jam ends!
Will take a look at yours too! ✨
Very nice game. I love the style and the mood. !
Thank you! Glad you liked it! 😊
It's a really fun game, I think if you keep developing it it won't be long before you can available on Steam.
Thank you! Happy you like it!
It's definitely a seed for something! 😊
Amazing game! I can't believe you created that in just 7 days. The aesthetic is great, the music is great, and it really reminds me of old-school point-and-click adventures. You even took the time to make sure the little details were there, like making the character brighter in the light and darker in the dark. Really amazing work!!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and that the spirit of the old games is shown! And yeah, I added some details for flavor where I could.. glad it paid off! 😊
