This was fun. I really enjoyed hunting down all the people and cows. The farmer sniping me with whatever he threw surprised me, but it made it more challenging. The sounds reminded me of a weird train ride. Kind of fitting, actually.
Really nice mini game, nice touch how skelletons run away shaking!
Very nice game, though it feels a bit unfair that a hit in the head 1-shots you.
Also lacks some death-metal for the music :D
Great polish! I liked the control scheme as well as the sound design (that effect that happens when you boost is cool!) Also a fan of the way you presented the controls (just left and right mouse, no tutorial text). very elegant!
I think my only gripe is that i died suddenly and I don't know why. I guess from reading these comments a farmer shot me or something lol.
I loved it! Could not figure out if it has an end, but in general I really liked it. It is small, simple, and quite "rewarding" I'd say - every time I eat somebody and get a bone my inner daemon silently cries out "OOOHHH YESSSSS MORE DEATH!"
Unfortunately, I can not say much because the game is so small and simple that there is not too much content to really give feedback about. Well, maybe some exclamation mark above farmers' heads to show they are going to shoot you.
In general, this is a very nice and fun game!
Glad you liked it! My first priority was making the controls simple and intuitive and making gameplay feel smooth and satisfying. The enemies definitely need some work, though, like you said. A lot of people have said that the enemies kill you too abruptly/unexpectedly.
Some musics would have been nice, but other than that, cool game!
as Dyslexci said below, that sway is pretty darn good! How did you acomplish that?
I assume you're referring to the slithering effect, right? The head constantly tweens between its current angle and the target angle each tick. The target angle is the angle towards the mouse + sin(time)*n
When moving, the snake accelerates in the direction the head is pointing.
The sway effect is so good, creative game, well made :)
Ah yes, the farmer is the one who shoots me.
Oh well, It was very creative.
SKELEPEDE! Fun little snake game, could use some music, SFX and more polish, but fun use of the sprites and a big world!
I had to remove the SFX for the browser version because it was having some audio glitches and stuttering that I couldn't quite seem to fix, but they're still there if you download the desktop version
Snakes games are nice games
However. i think music and more content would be great for the game^^
Keep it up!
My browser is suffer while i playing it.
Anyway this game has very original snake with cool moving animations!
Good work!
I really liked playing this! It felt really good and the way you used the assets was so creative. I did have a couple of questions while playing--I didn't even realize you could die until I saw people shooting bullets at me. I also had to wonder why you would ever stop boosting. There didn't really seem to be a time limit on it, and regular movement was a little slow. I also would have appreciated some music, possibly a high score mechanic? But it was so fun it really did bring a smile to my face. Honestly, just adding a high score to this would probably make it sellable!
Great job!
Great core mechanic. Love jam games where you just pick up and instantly understands how the control works and starts playing.
Great use of the art assets as well. Level is beautiful and love the animation of the people running when you get close, a simple detail that really sells how terrified they must be.
Main issue is that there is none (or almost none) telegraph to enemies attack and they kill you instantly, very little time to react.
This is fun, though I would have loved to see consequences for hitting your own tail and less instakill enemies
This is a great toy. I got killed by the green people several times before I even saw them shoot, they were hitting my at point blank so it was unclear why I was dying. It would be nice to have clearer signalling around that.
This is what happens to the snake in Snake after he dies.
The character mechanics and the map generation are great! But it doesn't seem like a game if you don't have an objective and obstacles. Can you actually get hurt? What's the purpose of growing besides the nice effect?
One more thing is that I found myself pressing the right button 100% of the time because there wasn't ever really a benefit to go slower.
Some of the NPCs will shoot at you, which will kill you if the skull gets hit.
I wanted to expand upon the boost thing a bit more and add a size/score counter, but I ran out of time haha
Ah, yes! I played it again, it took me a while of exploring to find someone finally shooting at me! lol
I hope you keep improving this game after the game jam, I think you can achieve something really cool on this game with more time working on it!
I like the way it moves although it's a bit to slow when you don't use the boost. And it would be good if instead of insta-kill you would loose a certain amount of bones first. Overall well done. Is the map generated or did you design it?
The map is procedurally generated using simplex noise and a few other shenanigans. In order to get the organic feel while also dividing the regions into square-ish sections, I have a second noise layer that I sample at a low resolution and apply on top of the first layer
That spooky scary snake is really cool, the way it moves is so satisfying. The game is very well executed but needs an objective.
I just didn't see the goal.
It just there is no point to grow. And then I met someone who just instantly killed me ;0
BUT:
The game looks nice, the map made very good, NPCs are well done! (but sometimes lack of them, made me frustrating)
Very good job!
