Wow, what a great job on effects! Nice use of art kit, lighting, and especially sound design make the game really tense and atmospheric.
really nice experience. I was super engaged, really nice touch at the end. Amazing use of the art kit, love the light mechanic.
Thanks! :) Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic atmosphere, very eerie, and I had my headphones too loud so jumped out of my skin a few times.
My only complain was that it took me a little while to realise that the dark ghosts were coming at the end because I couldn't see them. Once I saw them I realised pretty quick I could use the light to scare them away.
Really really good game, well done.
Thanks! Yeah, the ghosts are dark when most of the game is already pretty dark, so a little difficult to see indeed, could have used a bit more attention during our development :)
There isn't much left to say that the other people haven't already said. I agree with them. This is an amazing game. I never would have thought it possible that someone can build such a moody game of this type with the art asset we got. You really hit a home run with this one. Great job, rating this very highly!
Thanks so much, that's a great compliment ^^!
Always love to see horror games and you did a fantastic job at making it fun and atmospheric, keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Fantastic game! The sfx are top notch, very good work! It is very well made for a jam, specially being a horror game. We tried to make one once and didn't work out very well :P
Ah really? What was the problem you think? And thanks btw ^^
We haven't played a lot of horror games and haven't explore the genre enough to know how to face this kind of games... But we will in the future for sure!
Well it's fun to try unexplored genres for sure! If you ever get to work on a horror game, let me know so I can playtest it :p (though it's probably much scarier to playtest a game I don't know every aspect of)
Amazing and very effective horror game with great atmosphere. I was on edge the whole time. No idea how to solve the attic puzzle. I couldn't find a clue so I spammed the flashlight until I heard the switch unlock. If you'd put in an actual jumpscare I would have surely died. Fantastic work!
Thanks! Glad you managed to see the rest of the game after the attic puzzle, regardless of how you solved it ;)
I'm curious what the solution was; when I got stuck I scanned the comments for a hint but couldn't find one.
Maybe consider adding a clue to the game's page so more people are able to reach the ending. The game is awesome and more people should play it! :)
Yes good suggestion! I added a comment on the game page. Hopefully that will help some people :)
Fine atmosphere. You've used the artpack to great effect to build a well-realized spooky house. As others have said, kudos to the stellar sound design. I almost wrote the game off at that because I missed the attic puzzle, but after learning of its existence I went back and managed to figure it out. I also stumbled into the final puzzle solution mostly by accident. A very solid ending. Great work!
Thanks! Glad you came back to finish the game :)
Great polish and atmosphere!
My second 5/5/5 this gamejam
This is so damn fun! I actually enjoy this so much.
There's literally nothing i have against this game.
it's my favourite of all the 60 games i've played so far
Amazing game. Will share it cause needs more plays
Thanks for the kind words and rating! :D
We really like your game too, so your words mean a lot to us. ^^
Loved the atmosphere. Perfectly crafted and great sound design. A need to come back to this when I'm not to tired to figure out the attic. Normaly not my kind of game but I greatly enjoyed this.
Only thing I missed was the possibility to speed up text I have already seen (or did I just try the wrong keys?). Triggered some things more than once by accident or because I wasn't
sure I had seen it and waiting for it was a little annoying.
Thank you! Cool to hear it was enjoyable even if you normally don't enjoy this type of game. Hope you'll like the bit after the attic too!
Any button press should have sped up the text significantly, but in the build it didn't seem to speed it up as much as in the editor. Probably a framerate thingy! Now we know for next time :P
Might be a problem on my side though if it should have worked. I have to play in browser on an andoroid tablet with a keyboard at the moment. I get all sorts of funny bugs. So verify before you fix ;)
The atmosphere was great with this one, especially with the sound design! Actually got scared in that lounge area haha. I didn't finish, wasn't really sure what to do but after reading comments it appears I missed the attic puzzle. Could just be me being ditzy but I do love survivor-horror games with puzzle elements. Anyway, great game with awesome atmosphere!
Thanks for the feedback and too bad the attic puzzle seems to be a little too subtle for most people to find. But good we did get you spooked hehe ;)
This game really shows how critical sound design is to horror. Despite the lo-fi graphics, I was still pretty spooked. Controls could be improved, specifically on sloped terrain but this game was based on atmosphere and it really nailed it.
Thanks for the feedback!
REALLY good sound design set the atmosphere really well. the use of assets was solid to. I managed to complete it without getting too stuck, tho it took me a bit to know the attic was a puzzle.
Thanks! One of our team member is an audio guy for games, so I'll let him know about your feedback :)
Audio guy here, thanks! :D We'll check out your game too
Loved this game! I don't usually play horror because I'm a wimp but I decided to give it a try since I've just been playing everything that comes up on the "take me to a random game" thing. Atmosphere is great (so spooky!). My only qualm is the light seemed weird since sometimes the light shone behind me instead of in front of me but it didn't deter from the experience that much. I couldn't figure out the attic puzzle though so I'm sad about that because I really wanted to finish the game, but that's probably a me issue haha
Thanks for the feedback and playing our horror game! Too bad about the attic puzzle, we didn't playtest it, but that could've helped in making it a bit more intuitive.
This was fantastic, more people need to play it! I can tell a lot of work went into this. The only thing i can even make a comment on is that the flash light effect is a teen bit wonky looking...but regardless this has been one of my favorites of the jam! :)
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Im a sucker for a good pixel horror game, and you guys delivered :D
Very nice game, you really created a strong atmosphere! Unfortunately I couldn't quite grasp what I was supposed to do to progress but it seems like you added a lot of content and that tentacle thing that dropped from the ceiling was terrifying :)
Thank you :p we had a lot of fun making that tentacle thingy, we named him Barnacle Boi.
Gave me a couple of genuine frights! don't know if it's me but i seemed to hit a dead end after exploring all the rooms. Very nice atmosphere though with great storytelling
Haha cool thanks! The story should lead you outside again after you find the lab? Did you manage to solve the puzzle in the attic to be able to turn the switch?
I didn't, i was scared and ran away. To be honest i didn't realise it was a puzzle... But i'll definitely play again!
ah yeah, we didn't have someone playtest it after we added that puzzle, so maybe it's s bit too subtle 🤔
I think the puzzle was just fine, but then again I've played a lot of survival horror and RPG maker horror games lol.
This was really fun! I think a point and click system would have fit the game better than using E to interact but I loved the atmosphere. Nice job!
Thanks for the feedback and that you enjoyed the game!
Nice game guys, really liked the atmosphere and the audio. It would be cool to be able to click to interact with items as an altearnative to "E" key.
I got stuck on the entrance when transitioning between the Attic and the Library. Overall, I liked what I played so far.
Thanks for trying out our game! Too bad about that transitioning bug :/ I think it should be fine if you wait a little after the scene changes. There's something triggered quickly in that room and that causes the problem :( (if it is triggered while the scene is still fading in)
