Looks great.

Could be a bit longer, but it's very nicely presented for such short development time.

Cheers!

Yo. Yo. Do something with this. I know that I'd love to work on something with a unique spark like this, and I've just started playing with effects like this myself, so this was inspiring to see. Small nitpick for the scope of this small project (not sure if you'd consider it a demo or just what could potentially be part of a larger experience) - perhaps consider inverting text color or something so that it'll always be visible without adding normally-fine black textboxes (I say, "normally-fine" because I feel that it'd be quite easy to intrude upon the artstyle, and a black rectangle would likely do just that).

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. :)

Games can be so much, and I know that I'll be taking this to help mitigate my personal fear of releasing smaller games which I know can be so valuable as short experiences, even if I never do anything with them.

Cool Game! I didn't really understand the ending but I liked it a lot.

Cool idea, I wish there was more I could do.

An amazing short game man! I really was engaged sith the short story and the premise of it. The graphics fit the game well and the walking felt smooth. Thanks for a great game!

Woah, great story. I mean… The part we could see… Also great easter egg just at the beginning.

The graphics part I was really happy with. I just finished the Obra Dinn and I’m used to it and found it beautiful to build up the atmosphere.

Engagement was super high and super short, but for a jam it was outstanding. Great work!

The visual effects of the game were pretty good, the head bobbing felt smooth, my only complaint would be the lack of more content, I didn't feel much engagement here.

The dithering effect was great. Would be nice to have some more color. And some more game :P

Hey. Seeing this game as the most popular and most rated one I was really stoked to finally try it out. The screenshots of your entry are looking really interesting. The kino binary shader fits the sprites from the asset pack really really well. Sadly the entry is a huge let down after hitting the play button. I'll try to give you some honest feedback and just list the points that made me feel so underwhelmed.

  • No mouse look: What is the point in using this great shader if you can't really look at the graphics?
  • No exploration: I fondly remember the argument if walking simulators are actually even games because they were quite lacking on the gameplay side. I always thought that exploration and unfolding a story can be a fun gameplay mechanic if done right. Your game completely removed even this by making it so you can literally just walk straight forward. Really some missed potential here
  • Unused mechanics: I've noticed that I can jump with space and zoom in with the right mouse button. But those actions serve absolutely no purpose. These leads to the impression that there were intentions to do add more stuff to the game but you ran out of time which makes me feel like playing an unfinished game
  • The conversation with the skull at the end: The whole "walk straight and then a door appears" works actually as a pretty good build up to what could follow next. I was actually quite curious at this point and thought "oh now the game finally starts" as I entered the door. Then you get to the skull and the conversation is sadly really bland and not well written. And especially the smiley at the end broke all immersion and atmosphere the game has build up to that point.

I've read that you're trying to pick this game up post jam and improve on it so I hope that you find this feedback helpful. There is a lot of work to be done indeed, but people seem interested in this game so it might pay off. At this point it is sadly just wasted potential

Developer(+2)

Thanks for feedback! This game was really made in the last minute. Your right, there is a lot of problems with the game. But since some many people are wanting to see a bigger story, i'm willing to work on this project, and make it something bigger and better.

The word "potential" implies that it still has potential. Thus, it is not yet wasted. Can an idea with potential be wasted at all...?

(I get your point and agree with your feedback. It's a mindset thing ;) )

A fun story and  the atmosphere was pretty good with the view being obscured, it did feel a little bit slow and there was a lot of walking between the plot but still a good game.

Submitted

I like how you've used the assets to create a 3D world and the atmosphere is pretty good as well. Though, there isn't a lot of gameplay and the game could do with some more sfx's.

The game looks amazing. The use of assets is really amazing. The gameplay is kinda lacking, and it can do really well with a little better sound design. Overall, a really nice experience.

Submitted

Why no mouse look? Style is cool though!

Cool dithering effect! Any secrets? :)

I dont know what is game about but looks amazing!

Impressive style, but no real content.

Graphically it was great. I do kinda wish though that there was a little more sound when playing the game. I didn't seem to get anything until the end.

Otherwise i think that you could have removed the invisible wall and maybe added a secret for people who turned around. Interesting none the less.

Loveee atmospheric games and this one hits the nail on the head. Good job:D

Submitted

Very nice visual style! I'm really impressed with your use of dithering. A little extra sound would push the atmosphere to the next level, but all in all, great job.

Submitted

This is definitely display showcase worthy. I've played it before for sure, or played a similar experience, wish there was more to it.

Submitted

Very cool experience, not much in terms of gameplay but the atmosphere you create more than makes up for it. I especially like the the dithering effect you use, how did you do it? Is it a shader?

Developer(+2)

I just used a shader called "Kino Binary"

Here is the link to the shader
