It's a good improvement to the tower defense genre(forcing the player to have an objective during the waves as well). I do think the complete loss of towers is too harsh of an idea. If you really want to stick with tower destruction, then maybe give them a bit more HP(they go down way too fast). Also, once they are destroyed you can leave ruins there that can be repaired in the next turn for 1/4 of the original price. So it still punishes the player for not taking care of towers, but the game is more salvageable if a player messes up a wave.

Really good game. I may be just bad at the game but I had a constant struggle with the money. I think the towers a bit too expensive. But other than that really well polished nice game

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. It would be interesting to have seen your play though and where you started to run into issues. The game is heavily based around defending your towers by dropping bombs and luring enemies around the towers. But due to this, 1 bad wave can handicap you for a while. Would be interested to know if you had a particular wave or a particular point where things started to just get a bit too much.

yes, I started to use my bombs quite late, but by that time most of my towers was already destroyed, and from there it was a snowball effect as I didn't have enough of them for later waves

I like all the stats you put in the game, and the mechanics are fun, but the minimap was partially out of my view :(. But still very good game

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Can you explain how the minimap was out of view? Were the sides of the screen being cutoff?

Submitted

Yeah, the bottom right was cut off and I could only see some of it. Is the game made for a 1080p resolution? Because thats my monitors resolution

Developer

I'm playing on a 1920x1080 monitor as well but the resolution of the game is 320x180. There should have been some black bars on the sides to squish it in so this is odd. Just to confirm, there aren't any scroll bars or anything like that in your browser window? Otherwise a screenshot would be great.

Very fun concept, extremely engaging. I liked the upgrade system and it's nice that you included a mini-map. The UI is a bit too big in my opinion but that can easily be tweaked. I hope you contine developing this!

Loved it! The idea of having the enemies chasing the player directly definitely made it a lot more active than other tower-defense games I've played. My only criticism is that it's fairly easy to cheese the earlier waves just by leading them through well-timed bombs. I'd also like it if doing damage or being hurt were telegraphed more - the sort of "oof" sound effect and the clicks made sense, but it would've been a lot nicer if maybe there was a bit of flashing or screen shake when the player was hit.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. The effect you're suggesting was actually on the list of ideas i had to unfortunately bench so i definitely agree that it would have made the game better.

Fun game! I loved the upgrade cards between rounds, it felt really good to change my strategy around which cards I got.
I think a smaller map might help combat a bit of the aimless feeling I was getting, like I kind of felt like I was off in the middle of nowhere defending nothing, but there was something quite fun about making my own little army of towers that I then tried to lead enemies through.
I did run into a bug after I died, pressing "retry" didn't actually restart for me - I was hoping it was going to restart me at the wave I was on, but nothing happened.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm surprised restart didn't restart the game, i just tested it and i cannot replicate the problem. It may be a conditional bug. But it is unforgiving where it would restart you on wave 1.

Very nice game, well balanced and a lot to build/ upgrade. Would be nice to see a score at the end because I forgot to look what wave I was on but other than that really nice work! :)

Very fun concept! I couldn't find a way to pause mid-game, which was frustrating because I forgot the control scheme a lot in the beginning. I LOVED the powerup cards idea, that was awesome. I feel the same about the repetition, I think shortening the game by a few waves might help to offset that feeling.

Still, great submission!

It was cool to have a player character in a tower defence game, kiting the enemies onto bombs was good gameplay. Random powerup cards were a neat mechanic too.

Really liked playing your game, I agree that it does get a little repetitive over time. But still a lot of fun. I did get stuck sometimes between a house and enemies but maybe that is intentional.

Pretty cool game, I had fun playing it. I particularly liked the power-ups and the variety of enemies. The music was also well done and I liked how you get to see where the next wave will spawn from.

However, after a while I felt the gameplay got a little repetitive. Apart from the powerups, there were no new features introduced as the game progressed. Maybe you could give the player one tower to start with and have the others unlock as you progress? Also the main menu has no quit button and once I started the game there was no way to return to the main menu except by dying.

Still, nice concept and it has a lot of potential.
