In Mirage, you can't control what you see. The lights turn on and off and move around. There are also mirages - objects that only appear in the dark - to give the dark gameplay significance.

So to start, you definitely need to continue developing this, it was an amazingly fun puzzler for 48 hours.  Working through a couple of simpler levels introduction the various features and explaining them would be highly recommended.  Love these will definitely be following future development of this.

Developer

Thanks! We're planning on expanding this into a full game. We'll post regular updates here on itch.io.

Good pacing with the increase in difficulty with each level which made it a great game to play. I wish there was a level selector in case the player gets stuck on one level like I did, but that could just be me being bad at games.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! A map screen is planned for the full release - updates will be posted in the devlogs section in the itch page, so stay tuned!

I really like this mechanic, it could definitely be made into a whole game! Since you're planning on working on it more, a few things I found frustrating were when I had to wait for a shadow to finish it's long loop to show the block I needed it to show, and when I accidentally got a block stuck on a wall/in a corner. Since you're thinking about grid movement, it might fix accidentally moving a block, but it might also be nice to have an undo, even if it was only a few per level. Also, if the cycles of the shadows stay, having some kind of fast forward might be nice so if I miss my timing I don't have to wait as long.

Really nice, keep polishing it and I bet it'll turn out really good!

Thanks so much! An undo feature (unlimited, like other sokoban games like Baba is You) is being worked on for the full release, and the light system will be looked at; I agree with you that it’s a bit annoying to have to wait. A fast forward might work, I’ll look into that :)

Thanks for the feedback!

The fact that collisions are too precise, makes it hard to play sometimes and I think it'd be better to have smaller box collider, at least for movable boxes.

BTW, It's an interesting idea and it was fun to play. Well done :)

And if you had time, I'd be thankful if you play my submission <3

Thanks for the feedback! We are planning on expanding this game after the jam, and we're going to add tile-based movement (you move exactly one tile at a time). This should remove the need for a smaller hitbox. :)

Submitted

Yeah sure. your solution is way better, why didn't I thought about that :)

Submitted

I love the idea but I think the game would have been better if it had movement similar to baba is you. The game really lacked some sound effects and the music shouldn't restart when the level restarts.

Developer(+1)

We are planning on adding that type of movement after the jam. Thanks for playing!

Wow what an incredibly unique idea! I really like how the environment is "out of control" and how the rules change depending on what is revealed in the world and what is not. The visuals are also quite cute! One thing I would mention is that with moving blocks, there are some times where there was a space I thought my character could fit in (ie. to move a block from the side) but I found myself unable to push it? I restarted the level which was no big deal but maybe make the gaps in the walls larger? That's the only critique I can really think of! Excellent job guys :)

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! After the jam, we're planning on adding a tile-based movement system, so that you move one tile at a time. That should fix your issue :)

Thanks! It looks like my teammate python-b5 submitted our game to this stream without telling me.

Visual could use some work, but the audio was good and the gameplay was decent. Keep working on it and I'm sure it'll be good.

Thanks!

Solid puzzel game, at first I thought it would be confusing, but I was wrong. It was a really fun experience. Neat game!

The only complaints I have is that the floor colliders are a bit buggy from time to time, and in world 2 I don´t think that the lights were that "out of control", but that aside, it was a pretty solid entry.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! The goal of the game wasn't to make the lights "out of control", as in chaotic, but rather to take your power of what you can look at away. We appreciate your feedback!

Really fun game and very creative! The darkness covering part of the level but showing over parts was a really clever mechanic and added a nice layer of strategy to the game. I also liked all the audio although the visuals could have done with a bit more work, but this will just come with practise. Overall a really cleverly designed and fun game, great job!

It must be a problem from my laptop but i'm stuck on the lvl loading screen :(

Developer

Sorry for the unclear instructions - you have to press Z to enter the level. I hope you enjoy the game!

Submitted

ok i played ! it's nice !  maybe you should make the player in a more visible color. In the first lvls, it's almost white on white

What a cool concept! this "duality of worlds" thing is super fun. I did notice a bug where being inside a gate as it closed yeeted me out of the map. but thats fine I just restarted. Solid concept and fun little puzzles. good job!

Thanks!

Cool concept for a puzzle game. I haven't read, that you need to press Z to start the level at first so I though the game crashed... You might want to write that somewhere in the game as well. (Or just get rid of this button prompt.) But it all worked out in the end.

I think the puzzle design is pretty neat, however some of the levels are very frustrating because you have to wait for a blob of darkness to move to the right space. So you can't test out ideas how fast you would want to and if you miss something you have to wait again to try it another time.

Also that the ice makes you slip as soon as just a tiny bit of your body touches it makes the ice levels a bit fiddly to play.

I like the music but it would be nice if it wouldn't restart every time you restart a level.

So all in all pretty cool concept with potential but a few quality of life improvements and less wait time in some of the levels is needed to make this a great game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback! We're planning on expanding this game at some point after the jam, so we'll take your criticisms into account. We are aware of the issue with the ice - we're planning on fixing it in the first update.

A really cool idea, honestly 2-2 took a bit of work. It is really fun and definately a cool idea.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the game.

A really good idea, well executed. Some of the levels are very tricky, I like it a lot!

Developer

Thanks!

Great concept and  awesome execution, though I'd either have the levels start right away, or have an indicator on screen, as I thought the game was broken till I found out about "z". It also seems like if you  press the restart button in the level select screen it breaks the game. Overall solid entry!

Developer

Thanks! I wasn't aware of the restart button bug, so awesome that you found that! It'll be fixed after the voting period in the bug-fix/polish update :)

Submitted

Nice one! Interesting concept which led to some tricky moments. Personally I'd have liked a bigger screen, as it's quite tough to see what's going on when it's small, but I enjoyed my time with this!

Developer

Thanks!
