Did you base the size of the play area on the player's resolution? I tried the web version first and found the ball was going off screen a lot to the point where I could only shoot horizontally, and I had to use only teleport cause trying to dodge up or down would risk being too close to the edge. Then I tried the offline version and found I didn't have either problem.

It’s my first time making a browser build of a game so I wasn’t exactly sure what I was doing. I’ll be sure to not make the same mistake again. Thanks for the feedback.

I liked the movement and the feel of the game. The only problem I encountered was: I was shooting my bullet flew off the screen.
But still good job!

I will be glad if you can take a look at our game. We actually have the same name: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/460954

You can summon the bullet back to you using right click and press space to teleport to it. The controls are under the browser version of the game and in the about section of the ingame menu

Oh wow. Yes it will defenetly help! Nice thanks

Solid entry. Loved the recall and teleport mechanics for the bullet. Lots of enemy types with good progression.

The minimalist art style was no excuse not to add juice! Especially like the lights.

I really wish the game would take your inputs whilst the bullet is shooting. It feels unresponsive to LMB, followed by RMB, only for nothing to happen.

I reallllly like this game! I really enjoy your execution, I think it's very simple and elegant. 5 stars for all three!

Similar concept to ours actually, take a look if you are interested! https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461462

I played for long and I got 10 only, but i'm so proud of my 10 score xD

Good Job on getting a score of 10! Is there any feedback you have regarding calling back the bullet and teleporting to it? Please don;t forget to rate as well!

I didn't know we can teleport to it :O , *starts playing the game again*

NIIIIICE now my high score is 11 xD this is so cool, good job man

The game is not only addictive, but also pretty good looking. And the teleportation is definitely a nice twist on this overused one-bullet concept. I liked it!

Submitted

Nice approach to the two stick shooter. Very nicely juiced. It's challenging and fun to play.

Awesome game! Super unique and challenging! I kept dying over and over again! >_< Looks very pretty too, and feels immersive with the sound FX! Unique idea, I definitely think you should keep developing this, perhaps make the first few levels easier or something - Another thing, which isn't really related is I think this would make an awesome rhythm game :D

Check out our game Only One Recruit if you haven't! I would really appreciate it! ^-^ https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461569

Thanks for the feedback! I saw your game got played on GMTK Live so congratulations on that! I would also like to say that you have given me the idea for a rhythm based game mode (so many great ideas from other people as well: teleport only mode, bullet hell mode, bomb bullet mode) for when the jam is over. Thanks!

I would love to keep watching your development on this game ^-^ (- Amy)

Thanks! As someone who wants to become a game designer in the future, this is very encouraging. This is my first ever game jam and the amount of positive response I've gotten on my game is overwhelming. I've only worked on one other game which I have the link for here: https://mark-auman.itch.io/avarice . I'm currently playing your game right now and will rate it soon!

Wow! Awesome game and feels super polished! One thing I could suggest is balancing the difficulty curve (It was pretty hard even before orange stage). Other than that, great job, and good luck!

Submitted

Nice game, i like how you work with theme one bullet

Submitted

Goo job here, simple but to the point and have a very satisfying feel.

The only down side for me is the difficulty curve. It took me several attempts to begin to "not die at the first few balls", I would enjoyed more a less rapid increment of enemies to better understand the inputs.

That's a juicy one! Congrats mate. I just think it's a bit too hard,  it could start slower and have some kind of weapon upgrades while keeping the same one shot idea. Also, the spawning can be a bit frustrating sometimes because the border of the playing area is too risky to be at since the player can't know if there will be an enemy spawning there or no, some sort of visual showing that a enemy will spawn at that location could be a good option. Overall, very cool entry, congrats

Seen a fair few "one bullet" games in the jam, but this has to be my favourite take on the concept~
Feels really satisfying nailing them on the bullet return, and the screenshake gives a great feel to the impact of each hit.
They spawn really quickly though; even if you can take out many it can feel a little overwhelming at times. Though not sure this is spawn rate so much as me missing too much ^^;

Submitted

Ooooo that screenshake though! Made each successful hit feel so satisfying! Good choices on color, sound and overall design! Made for a cool arcade vibe and I had a blast trying to beat my high score a few times!

Submitted

30 points!! I played through many times and got better after each run. I've seen a lot of "shoot one bullet over and over again" submissions, but yours was really fun and intense! Great job!

Submitted

Very addictive! At first I overlooked that you can call back your bullet (I just wish, that you could call it back already while it's still flying) and it took me a few more tries to realize, that you can also teleport the character to the bullet. Really dig the later stages, the difficulty ramps up quite a bit there! I would like to get more points though, when killing multiple enemies with one shot. Also it's easy to lose track of the ball, as it can leave the screen. I think I would prefer it bouncing back from the edges.

Game is great mechanically and unlike other attempts from the game jam it actually makes proper use of the single bullet you're given.  On top of it it's visually flawless. Fives! Fives across the board!

Submitted

It was hard to play without a proper mouse, but  Nice work!

Neat art and amazing atmosphere, but the ball go outside my screen and it's too harsh that you only have one ball with all this big wave. Great work.
