really fun idea and love me a dice rolling game, very stressfull on hard mode hahaha

Developer(+1)

The game balance is definitely not there at the moment - but planning on working on it a bit more to see if I can get it to all play nicely.

Thanks for playing and the comment.

It's very well done! I like how the die drags, it's very nice! The captain is very very broken! (seriously) A recommendation could be to cooldown the crewmates or something like that! Or maybe that you cannot put the output of one into the input of another. Very good job!

Developer

The captain is very over powered. My thinking was that being the only character that can clone a die, in this build they are not available in Normal mode. But 100% agree. I had some other mechanics with cooldown and skill use counts, but wasn't able to get a sensible game loop fully implemented in the time constraint of the jam.

Thanks for the feedback!

Making dice mechanic in the game about space station is very unexpected for me! I like the game overall, maybe upgrade mechanics was a bit overpowered.  Great entry, keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment. I agree the captain's clone skill is overpowered quite a bit and the game isn't really balanced. But was still great fun to have the constraints of the game jam imposed to help me get something built. This was my first game jam and first game and so pretty chuffed that I got it submitted.

Thanks again for playing!

Such a unique idea, love the concept of manipulating dice to strategise and survive. Had a few bugs with moving the dice around though, and very quickly gravitated towards always duping a 6 to build up the machines and when they were full I'd then do a card.  Love to see this game with a bit more polish and some see the product of fiddling around with new features. Legit the dice modification system you came up with is so god damn cool that you could do so much with it.  Almost think making it turn-based might improve how action economy is considered.

Anyhow really cool stuff, especially for one person in a week. Great stuff ^_^

Developer

Thanks Cozi. I appreciate you playing and the comments. There is definitely one strategy that works in play (in easy mode) with the captain cloning the dice. But mixing it up with some other crew skills and mission types makes it more fun.

I am planning on continuing to develop this concept a wee bit more. Really enjoyed taking part in the game jam and using the 1 week time constraint to aid in the management of scope and focus.

Very fun to figure out the best strategies! I spent actually quite a while playing this lol, I became a bit addicted.

A couple thoughts (I really like this game so if you continue working on it here are some suggestions )-

It would be nice to have an ability to speed up time, maybe by holding the screen to make the cycle go faster because sometimes I'd just be waiting for the cycle to loop again to get my rolls back.

The upgrade by one power was WAYY overpowered. I like the idea of it, and I also like that it's product dice can be used in the clone upgrade, but being able to put it back through the same upgrade made things way too easy to just choose whatever numbers you want.

As I got better at managing  the timers while Solving the quest, I started craving something a bit more challenging. What you had for the jam was perfect, but you have an insane amount of room to expand this if you wanted to, whether that be with different operations other than just addition to make the sums, perhaps done by using  special dice (for example subtraction dice that subtracts the dice to it's right from the sum on it's left), or maybe you could even add in semi-random events to keep the content fresh for longer.

Anyway as you can probably tell, this game got me unreasonably excited, there are so many directions you can take it. Good stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the enthusiastic comment and ideas. 100% agree on the powers - I had a few additional crew members and mission types/modifications that I didn't get developed in time. I just barely got the end-to-end game loop working tbh. :) This is my first game jam and first attempt at a game - was lots of fun and enjoyed the constraints the game jam emposed.

Thanks again for playing.

Developer(+1)

Do you remember how many revolutions / points you ended up with?

Submitted

Yeah I was in the mid 50s for revolutions and had about 130 points I think, but I had restarted once I figured out the strategy so I had like 30 revolutions before that lol

Fun game! I like the art style and the gameplay is fun and unique. Some quiet music would be nice but overall well done.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out and playing. Did the music not work during the game for you? There was no music on the main menu (not sure why I didn't add there) - but it should be there in the background during the gameplay loop...

Submitted

The game has a very fun gameplay loop! I also like the visual and audio aspect of the game, it's very satisfying to roll the dice and use them. I did get a bit confused at the start, and I also wasn't sure about what to do, so some tutorials or explanation would be great. Overall, a very nice game!

Developer

Thanks for the play and comments. Glad you managed to work through the lack of tutorial and suss out what to do...

Submitted(+1)

Like a lot of others said a little tutorial like saying that i can only dupe 1 cube at a time would be great and making the game a little easier would help a lot! But ovr the art looks awesome and i had much fun playing the game! keep it up

Submitted

a little hard to understand, but fun once you do!

Submitted

This is a very fun concept, much like our game a tutorial would have helped, but we also did not have enough time to add a full tutorial. I think with more time and polish you are on to something here.

Submitted

I really enjoyed this! It took me a minute to realize there were missions, and once I did the fun really clicked for me. I wished the UI was closer together to cut down on dragging, but then again that's what made me so much more panicked towards the end so it totally lended to the vibe. Mission accomplished, what a solid entry, good job!!

Submitted

Simple yet solid foundation to be developed! For now, most of the time the game is about dexterity for me (spamming clone 6 and fix the station), but you can add more strategic depth to the game in the future! For example: Chop a dice into a smaller dice, merge dice, dice face with effect ... and also some crazy random effect which can both help/sabotage your plan!

Really remind me of the game "Tharsis" and "Dicey Dungeon"!

Good job and keep developing!

The game itself is really cute, it looks pretty and plays nice! The only complain I have is that for me it seemed a bit too difficult ( It might be just a skill issue from me ). Other than that you did a great job!

Submitted(+1)

The concept is really fantastic! It is, however, very difficult to understand what exactly I’m supposed to do… I was going to ask for *help* before trying again, but I read the instructions a 3rd time and something clicked. My third play I managed to survive 4 revolutions! (on easy, but still feels rewarding) Yes, you need some balancing and better player communication, but once you get those nailed this will be a solidly addictive game!

Submitted

Really nice strategy game! I just didnt clearly understand the score system because i got 11 revol and 0 score.

Developer

Thanks VassilisVas. You only get to score points if you complete a mission and if you abandon a mission you lose a point. The thinking is that as the game progresses, the missions will steadily get more difficult and events happen to mix things up a bit adding constraints. Some dev didn't make the final submission and i needed to hide those elements as they weren't baked enough in time.

Submitted(+1)

Very great game design and audio! It was hard to understand at first but it was really enjoyable after a few defeat. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for persisting beyond the 'what am I supposed to do here?' stage... :)

Submitted

This is amazing! I had way more fun than I anticipated. The dice mechanic looked a bit scary at first, but I figured it out reasonably quickly and had a blast!

Submitted

Well done in submitting this game to the jam! I do enjoy a good board game and this fit that niche perfectly. I read the comments before I stated playing, so I didn't have that a big problem with the controls. Keep up the  good work!

Ps: Great Space theme - we also went with space ;)

Developer

Cheers. Checking out your game just now. More space themes please... :)

Submitted

Really cool concept ! It needs a tutorial tho, I was able to figure it out myself after 2 deaths. Love the sound design and UI, congrats !!

Developer

Thanks. Appreciated. Many folks are saying that - I should've got some others play testing before submission to find that out before deadline. Lessons learned. https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/topic/4609557/tutorials-who-needs-em-players-do#...

This is a nice dice game! I like it ;)

The only problem I have encountered is that I needed a tutorial: I did not get that I have to press the green button until the 3rd round of dying. Besides that, after learning it I enjoyed a few rounds :D

Nice job! I am happy to see you used Godot as well!

Developer(+1)

Thanks mate. I wish I'd added that tutorial or simple 'call to action' on the buttons...

Made a wee comment thread about the missing tutorial and lesson learned - https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-13/topic/4609557/tutorials-who-needs-em-players-do#...

Spotted your post and will definitely take some time to dig into your submission.
