How does the game fit the theme?
The game has a fakeout where all appears fine until you interact with "The Nothing".

Additionally, you'll need to beat the game without losing any slimes to win. However you need to do do multiple runs to the end of the game to unlock items and upgrades to allow you to beat the game.

Real hot stuff. The concept is intriguing at first, and really ramps up. I really like the tutorial phase, then the change in music when the Nothing appears? Absolutely peak. Would love to see this as a full-fledged mobile game, and I daresay it'd even be a Play Pass worthy one.

I really enjoyed this game it's quite addicting, I really like the style of the game and the music too! It's great, well done

Submitted

Thought the game was great! I could play it for hours.

Sorry if I didn't get around to reviewing your games guys. Turns out a cyclone has now knocked out our power so I won't be able to do any more reviews 🥲.

As my phone slowly runs out of battery I wanna say thanks for all of the kind words from such an amazing community with amazing games. This will definitely the first of many game jams for me.

Love ya all ♥️♥️♥️

wow. that was SO COOL!!! I love the whole "Cozy Game Gone Wrong" concept, which was executed beautifully here. The mechanics of the game itself were sooooo cool and unique. Having to micromanage a bunch of slimes while keeping as many of them alive as possible from a somewhat invisible beast was honestly such good and fun game design.  I actually lost track of time playing this game, which is something I haven't said for any of the other submissions yet, it was just so fun and addicting! Overall, this game has some amazing, unique mechanics that tie in with each really well, which makes it very fun to play. AMAZING JOB!!!

Developer

omg one of the best things a Dev can hear is a the story of a player loosing track of time. That's honestly way to nice ♥️♥️♥️.

Thank you very much giving the game a good play and for the kind words. Really means a lot coming from a Dev of your calabar :3

I really  like your game! The idea is really unique! I spent like 30 minutes just trying to get 14 rebirth points for the upgrade. Without knowing the right strategy, the game feels really hard, but the gameplay is a real fun and my rating for this masterpiece is going to be really high! Keep it up!

Developer(+1)

Omg thank you so much for playing for so long, I really appreciate the kind words too ♥️.

On the off chance you want some guidance to keep playing when there's so many other games to check out, best early game strat is to sacrifice little slimes of a type, while keeping big ones alive.

Yeah sorry for overturning the difficulty, especially for a game jam.

Thanks a million ♥️♥️♥️

Congratulations for submitting this game! The concept is cool and graphics too :)

Thank you very much for giving our game a play with the amount of reviews coming in for your amazing piece of art <3. Appreciate the kind words!

Very cool idea that made me play longer than I should! The visuals and audio are on point!

Developer

Cheers, really appreciate you giving the game a crack ♥️. Really appreciate the kind words too

I really like the idea, it's very unique. It gets a bit repetitive after a while though - just drag slimes to merge them. I think that bonuses dropping on the screen mid-game (that automatically spawn, you don't have to buy them) will make the game better. For example, look at "Bejeweled" - there are bonus gems with special effects that appear every once in a while.

Developer

Thank you for that feedback and for playing.

Yeah perhaps something to spice it up would be nice, 35 rounds can drag on.

I really wanted coins and the items you get from the upgrades to keep it spicy as you track "The Nothing", with the slime upgrades taking over for the cool merge effects. Love to hear your ideas for some of the special effects that bejeweled like mechanics could do :).

Developer

Wait just double checking, did you get to the gameplay? That whole grassy sections just a fake out. Need to pop a something on-top of the shadow slime that spawns in to begin 🤙

Submitted(+1)

Yes, I got to the dark areas. Although I'd expect some people to think that the grassy part is the entire game.

Developer

Got ya, thx for confirming that ^_^

I like your take on the theme! I got too addicted playing this game. It's very exciting even though the gameplay is simple. This is the kind of game where, before you know it, you've been playing for hours!

Developer(+1)

Damn that's so incredibly nice to hear that we got you hooked. Hearing that we gave just one person hours of entertainment is so motivating ♥️♥️♥️

Thank you so much for playing and reviewing, your kind words are super duper appreciated ^_^

Fun and original, very addictive!

I got stuck in the nothing screen though, didn't know how to defeat it.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and reviewing ^_^.
You'll need to get the final upgrade to defeat it!

Very cool game about merging slimes and protecting the slimes from 'the nothing', I enjoyed that this was a tile-based game too and there were so many upgrades to unlock. Well done!! When the enemy went into the dark, I thought that was a great addition because it made the player guess where it was going.

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed the mechanics of the enemy ^_^. Thank you so much for playing and reviewing!

I loved the cheerful merging of slimes!  The upgrade system is nice and deep, though I found myself wishing for a bit more guidance on some mechanics. Overall, it’s a nicely crafted game!

Submitted

Great game, nice mix of two genres!

The twist surprised me, and revealed a very cool puzzle gameplay! The nothing felt smart. When becoming invisible, it stays on the same place so you can't know where it is going next. And I always failed to predict where it was going. Couldn't figure how the truesight worked tho :( I had a great time!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and reviewing.

I probably should have specified that the direction of the truesight is based off the direction you do the merge. But yeah it creates a line of sight with a length equal to the level of the slime. This line reveals "The Nothing" if it is within it.

Yeah the AI is brutal even for me, despite how simple it is from a code perspective.  :p

This is really fun! Surprisingly stressful for a turn-based puzzle game. 😅

It was a hard to figure out at the beginning, and I found it difficult and a bit grindy to play. I never had remotely enough coins, I found myself wishing for an upgrade that made it easier for me to get coins.

Great entry!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing, kind words and feedback too ^_^.  Yeah my sister who made the game with me said that too.
Being my first game jam game I didn't realise that I shouldn't inflict the rest of you jammers, 200 games deep out of 2000, with the longest possible grind I could muster. Don't know why Ella handed me the keys to the balancing of the game,  but yeah I tried to pace this towards a masochistic stream user oops. So you're right about it being grindy, sorry about that lol.

Submitted

Wow! You came up with an amazing game! I didn't expect such an engaging mix of match-three mechanics and survival! My applause! Very pleasant visuals and, surprisingly, addictive music!

Developer

That's too kind! Thanks so much for playing and reviewing! So glad ya like the music I whipped together <3

Neat game! I thought nothing is going to go wrong and its just a chill fun cute slime game then. BAM. Really cool

Developer

Yessss, glad that the component I called the "FakeoutManager.cs" did it's job :O. Thanks for experiencing our game and leaving the really nice review.

I spent so long playing this, great fun. I did notice that if the "Nothing" already had Stun x 2 or more, and you drop a tnt on it, then its stun count resets to 1.

Developer(+1)

Oh damn, great catch. I thought I fixed that one. Thank you so much for pumping your time into my game, bringing this bug to my attention and for these kind words. Can't way to try out your game ^_^
