Interesting game! It does look quite prototype-y at the moment, so polishing the gameplay is my main feedback (that's understandable you didn't have time, that's the nature of game jams). Keep working on it, like the idea!

How does the game fit the theme?
You are taken prisoner and are forced to fight in a gladiator arena. Before each fight, you are given the option to roll the dice of fate. Perhaps You'll get an item that will help you achieve victory, or maybe you'll get something that will put you at a disadvantage, but come on now, you're the best of the best! Nothing can go wrong!
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The dice roll sound effects were from pixabay. All other assets, including other sound effects, music, voiceovers, graphics, and code, were made during the jam.

The parrot is indeed a good companion to have! Good job on y'alls first jam!
A very unique take on the theme! Your life is already on the line, why not gamble? The gameplay is quite simple, you shield, you dodge, you attack, but the added gambling mechanic adds a lot of depth to the game, it adds a very fun risk and rewards sometimes, that might punish or reward you for your greed.
Great job on this!
The Parrot did not disappoint.
The game is good, it tackles the theme of the game jam nicely. Do want a little bit more options, changing the odds in terms of which game to go for all of these things would add a lot more to the game play.
Thanks for putting up the game.
Like the home made voiceovers as I did the same for my project ;)
I did not understand the relation between the dice result and the item picked. For example I made a 4 and get the 3rd item.
Heya, thank you for playing our game! As for the missing explanation between dice rolls and vendor items, that was definitely my bad. I completely forgot to show how the items were chosen because I was panicking over an animation bug.
The sum of the dice actually steps over each item, looping over, eventually landing on the Nth item. So, say that you have "Food Poisoning", "Herculean Strength", "Parrot", and "Quickfeet"; if you roll a 7 and starting at "Food Poisoning", you would get "Parrot"
The explanation is a bit too late, but hopefully this helps! We would definitely like to add more visual indicators for this minigame.
The parrot audio gave me a good chuckle, as did the 'You received Food Poisoning' being a good thing. :)
Quite a funny wee game. Maybe having the dice being a simple way to wager and either the opponent gets the benefit or you do could flip it a bit. Selecting which skill you want to wager for based on some condition would let there be a wee bit of 'planning' to it.
Good stuff though - well done on the build.
My game also involves dice... check it out.
Nice game! I found that if you click the Menu button while playing, and then hit Exit the game, it seems to crash in the web build.
Cute game, especially for a first game jam, really good job! I loved the parrot. It would be nice to see some more choreograph for enemy attacks (and also maybe make the game a bit more difficult)
This was a very good idea for a game! As a few comments say below, it's difficult to notice if the items are doing anything, except with quickfeet where I felt I was faster. I think with a few tweaks here and there this idea has a lot of potential
Lack of game feel. The enemy Doesn't Really show you what they're doing such attacking or Blocking. and i dont like it that i cannot open it in full Screen mode cause the game Screen were too big for my screen. a bit of music would be great. the sound effect doesn't really feel good to me, maybe if it a gladiator Arena there should be crowd Sound effect and The Crowd of course. I agree the parrot was a great addition. As theme said there's Definitely Nothing can go wrong. keep being Consistent and you will be a great Game Developer. Cheer!
The parrot was a fun addition! I really like the idea of rolling for power ups, nice job on this!
Interesting game! Although I couldn't say what items were actually helping me or not, it was fun to play (parrot is the best item lol. also the game got on easy mod after the poison one)
I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing, I definitely think the game could've benefited from more in-game text/instruction. It wasn't clear what the buffs were or did, or what i was risking by rolling. The first time I played I got all buffs (I think, I'm still not sure what the troll's heart does?) so it was pretty easy, but I love the core concept, it's like a roguelike at its purest, a mix of skill and luck. Some really cool art though, and I loved the parrot voiceover haha
Thanks for playing our game! Yes, I agree, we do need more information. I was thinking of adding a hovering text box for the buffs after you received them, but we ran out of time. Definitely on top of our list when we do update the game!
We loved the parrot voiceovers as well! All thanks to our wonderful sound magician @AdultSwaim!
EDIT: Also, Troll's Heart increases the Player's HP!
