I like this game, it's simple, but addictive and fun. Nice work.

I really like the idea of have one constant enemy which you train to defeat :) I found the gameplay quite hard though, especially dodging attacks. Best strategy I found for attacking was WASD to move and spamming the left/right arrow to attack, good fun :P

Ha ha, I'm so trash. Awesome work tho, I was kinda hoping to come here and flex my score, but a time that high doesn't even deserve mention. Good job!

Nice concept. Also really liked the aestethics and music!

Nice short game!

I like the music, simple but effective.

I would put shortcuts for the upgrade and make everything use just the keyboard, no need for the mouse in his current form. Adding more diversity to the enemies is an obvious next move I guess.

Very neat little game! Was quite enjoyable. One thing I would recommend is to make attacking more fun than just going up to an enemy and spamming adadadadadadadadadadad. Also, I noticed you drop coins when you die but it does not take away from how many you have? Is this a bug? I just kept killing myself then picking up the coins to get op.

I love this game, reminds me of the work of Daniel Linssen :D Simple, but elegant.
At the start I tought it would be to hard, but it got a nice learning and power curve! Controls are a bit clunky, and it took a while to identify the gold coins and the upgrades. Also, the enemies move a little bit to unpredictable...? But a very nice execution of the theme!

WOW, just wow. This game is so simple yet so original and nice! It takes a while to understand how you play it, but when you get the hang of it everything goes really well!

I don't see much to do with the theme in this, but I really love the game, the colours, the music! It's all amazing, I didn't fully understand what I was doing, so a tutorial would be very nice!

It was a good game overall, even though I'm not a huge fan of the clicker/RPG kind of games. The music was good but became a bit repetitive after a while. Anyway good job it was a good game and I'm sure RPG-game fans will appreciate it!

Nice idea - a tutorial would have been good as I wasn't 100% sure what was going on to start with! Figured it out though :D I got a score of ~750, is that good?

cool game dude

The green monochrome scheme is always one I love seeing! Cool art, nice particles and a fun game overall! Nice job!

Would love if you could check mine out too! Or not, no pressure ;) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/462672?after=20#post-876644

Challenging, well made game! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam 2019 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thank you for the review, I really appreciate the rating :)

Cool concept overall!
A tutorial would be a great addition.
A dedicated attack button would make the fight feel more like an actual fight.

Thanks for playing! I totally agree with you about the combat - will update soon :)

Sorry, but didn't quite undestand what I needed to do in the game, some form of tutorial of sorts would've helped!

A nice concept! I definitely enjoyed the satisfaction of increasing your stats and gradually dealing more and more damage. I think the only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the spamming A and D to perform multiple hits.

With that said, I finished at 579 :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I definitely should have spent more time refining the combat to add an attack button or to make the sword automatically attack. That is a really good time :)

I cant remember my score exactly, but I had something like 1150. It was super satisfying to get two characters side by side/stacked on top of each other. Big fan of the retro art style too! Being able to get such a sense of progression from a game made with so little time is fairly impressive!

Developer

Thank you for playing! The art style was totally for the sake of convenience (and because I'm not the best artist) but I'm glad that you liked it!

I finished with a whopping score of 1450 haha my left hand is tired! I like the retro looks and sounds. A leaderboard would be perfect for a game like this. Great job on the game!

Developer

WOW. I'm so sorry that it took that long and about your hand hahaha! I definitely need to refine the combat - thanks for playing!
