I gave up in the level"shooty bois"...It's too difficult for meT_T Very fun game, solid level design. The pixel art is cute^_^ I think maybe just seperate 2 abilities into 2 buttons , and remove the ability select UI will make the game more fluent and easy to control. Overall, I like it.
Please try my game if you will : )

Thank you for the kind words! I plan on fleshing this out more and the first thing I do is make the ability menu more intuitive! I really think it needs controller support for some of that tight platforming action! Thanks for the play and I'll be checking yours out for sure!
Well polished game with nice sound effects! I found it a bit difficult in the beggining but when I got used to the controls it was fun! Nice work!
Thank you so much! I've been told by quite a few people that getting the hang of the controls is hard but once you do, it's pretty smooth! Probably could have eased the player into it more! Glad you liked it none the less! Thanks for the play!
Well done! Very tricky to get used to the controls but great idea to chain abilities!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
It definitely gives me Boshy flashbacks (though this game definitely has more polish than any I Wanna Be the Guy game I've ever played).
Wow that truly means a lot! I definitly had some Boshy influence (especially with the "R" to restart haha)! Glad you had fun with it! Hope it wasn't too hard!
This game is cute jumping on slimes feels great, the mechanic of stopping and changing your abilities on the fly is also great so the core gameplay is good. Where i want to strangle the dev is on the level design, too many of the sections require perfect timing and if you mess up once is back to start. Try making jumps and hitboxes more forgiving and make the time between failure and a new run as quick as posible so that we can try again.
Theme, it fits you can only use your abilities once and you can sometimes refill your use of abilities with coins.
Originality, 2D platformer with only jumping once or dashing once is pretty cliche, it scores points on freezing time and making it more about the puzzle but its as far as it goes.
The difficulty curve was the thing I regret the most. I've made comments on it a lot already but I maybe spent too much time on the feel of the character and had to rush the level design a bit. I plan on fleshing this out into a full game and fully intend to ease the player into it a bit more naturally. Thanks for the feedback! Sorry you wanted to strangle me...
Oh dont worry, it was more of a joke! I hope to see more from you and having the difficulty turned up to 11 is something im also to blame and a common problem in Jams. Keep at it!
Very fun game. The puzzles are fun and the concept of using the skill while airing was very well introduced. Overall, great job.
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you had fun with it!
Finally got around to playing your game, congrats on jamming to the max here! Very charming. And thanks again for playing Einnsámr :)
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked the game! And no problem! I enjoyed yours a lot too!
Fun game with great visual and crunchy sound effects. Only having one use of each ability (while fitting for the jam) was frustrating at first, but I grew used to it and enjoyed that the levels were built around it.
Thanks for playing! Glad you had fun with it once the controls (as confusing as they are) set in!
Nice 2D platform game combining puzzle and action! I want to play more levels now~
Thanks for the play! Glad you enjoyed it! I intend to flesh this out into a full game and it would absolutely have more levels! Stay tuned :D
I am looking forward to play more in future. (following you now)
Oh wow thanks! I appreciate the support! I'll probably be releasing updates on here and discord mainly so you'll know it when I add more!
Wow. If you have the discord for this game, I would like to add and watch the game process
I don't currently, but once the jam is over officially i'll be setting one up! I'll let you know when that time comes if you wanna hop over and check out it's progress!
Sure. If your game has updated, Let's me know. I am curious about the updating
Nice design, I really like the progression of play and the pace at which the difficulty ramps up! Great job, its very juicy with satisfying sound effects!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it! I had a blast making it!
I honestly didn't know so much could be done in gamemaker! So many games are surprising me :D
This was a truly great game, great graphics, sound and level design. It was quite challenging, but it didn't feel unfair, I hardly ever felt like a mistake was the games fault. It surprised me with how much content you were able to fit in two days, every time I thought, "There can't be more!" there were more levels! The sprite work is also very nice, all the characters look so happy, even if they are trying to kill you. The controls could use a bit of work, and the fact that you have to press the r button twice to reset was a bit annoying, but overall it was phenomenal. This would be great if it was expanded into a full game with a slightly less steep level curve.
I noticed that the game was made with Gamemaker Studio 2, and so I was wondering something. My friend and I used unity to make our entry, but I do own Gamemaker Studio 2 and was wondering how it is to use. I have wanted to use it for a game jam or something for a while, but wasn't really sure how. Everyone seems to say how easy it is to use and all that jazz, but I wasn't really sure how I would go about making an actually decent game. Basically, I am kind of wondering how you did it. How were you able to make such a great game in such a short amount of time?
Wow what a lovely comment! Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed it! The difficulty curve definitly needs work and I want to tweak the ability swap controls for sure. I plan on expanding this game and the first thing I think i'll do is get controller support. I feel like it will help.
Game Maker Studio is such a powerful tool now and if you know how to work it, you can make some really cool stuff with it. There are a few great tutorials online but I would love to chat about it if you ever wanted to. Hit me up on discord or something. #0449
Also, I'm going to go check out your game too!
Thanks! Also, that code didn't work, on discord.
Try Zman110#0449 maybe! That should work!
This was a fun idea, but the power-switching mechanics were a bit frustrating to use the way they were implemented...
The overall ability switching mechanic needs some tweaks for sure! I think the game could use controller support to really make it fluid! Thanks for the play and appreciate the feedback!
Wonderful game, very tight controls, I like that you can stop time mid air to plan your next move, if I can change one thing, I make it so after you touch the coin, all your abilities come back without pressing X again, would be much smoother!!
You know funny enough, my buddy made that same comment late in the jam and I was thinking about implementing it but I ran out of time. I agree, that would make it a lot smoother. Thanks for the play! Glad you enjoyed it!
Really well put together with a great concept to boot! I really like how you encounter enemies which demonstrate how the different abilities works before you get to use them. The only thing holding this game away from greatness is the controls, they're a bit awkwardly mapped and I wish you could scroll through the ability wheel using the movement keys instead of z. You have made a great game with even greater potential and I'd love to see this get expanded on!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I truly think I will be expanding on this and probably the first thing I do will be implementing controller support. This game needs it I think. Being able to swap abilities with the shoulder buttons on a controller or something similar would help the feel quite a bit. Thanks for the play and I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
I've done it! It only took me over 300 deaths.
Haha you definitely beat my buddy! It took him a solid 600+ attempts! Hope you enjoyed it even though it's deadly haha! Thanks for the play!
One of the few games I actually wanted to keep playing and trying. You did a very good use of the theme. Loved it!
Thank you so much! Glad you thought it was fun enough to keep at it! That means a lot! Gonna go check out yours as well!
High ratings across the board. Very good puzzle design (though quite hard). I quit at the poison = bad level cause it was too difficult, but even the hard puzzles before that I tried and tried til I got them. Great entry.
Thank you so much! Looking back I kinda regret the poison level. It was definitely too hard of a mechanic introduction level. Glad you enjoyed it until then! Thanks for the feedback!
That's okay dude I got like 10 minutes of gameplay which is a lot for a game jam. I can see the thought you put into this and it paid off :)
Thanks for the kind words! I've been told it'll hook you for a while!
The controls on this game are impressively tight for a game jam game! Switching between moves is really satisfying, and the levels are well crafted to test your reflexes. The only issue that I saw was that the game starts out a bit too difficult in my opinion, but that could easily be adjusted. A full version of this game could do really well!
Thank you so much! That means a lot! I spent a lot of time on the controls and in turn, the level design got a bit rushed resulting in a tough beginning! Glad you enjoyed it! I'd love to expand on it for sure!
I have a question. Are you gonna expand this game? I would really love to play more of it. Even with this difficulty. It's really rewarding. With some more polish and maybe controller support it would be amazing game.
I've been asked this a lot actually! I really like the game and I would love to keep developing it. I fully plan on expanding it in the future and probably here soon while its fresh. Controller support would be a must and I would love to include a level editor of sorts. I gave my buddies the project files and they had a blast making levels. Your comment might just be the kick in the butt I needed to go full on with it!
It would be awesome! Keep it up!
Nice use of the concept, I feel like our games had similar concepts with abilities/colors but yours plays so much better! The art style is really great as well :D
Hey, I think your game had some real charm too! If you could flesh out the controls a bit more you would have a banger of a game on your hands! Thanks for the feedback though! Glad you enjoyed the game!
