Im going to have to come back to this game. I like it though I did not beat it. The atmosphere is impeccable and I like the one lightbulb mechanic. So far this is the only real mystery game that I played and I really dig that part of it.
Hey there, I played through your game in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCQbhr5GAmc&t=1s
Like I said in the community post, great job! One of the best games of the jam!
What a beautiful game. I wish you had provided a downloadable version, because the web build was rather laggy for me. However I very much enjoyed the game. I don't know if there is an ending, if there is have not reached it, but I have found a good few of the clues and they are all well written. Congrats on a great game!
It's here! Please visit the game page to download it. it is actually an improved version with sound effects and more feedbacks. Enjoy :)
Swapping lamps is a great idea, and a distinct take on the "one light" core. I think I was able to use a lamp that was on the other side of the wall.

Only one lightbulb?! I LOVE that idea! You made a very creepy environment and I applaud you for going with a more story driven approach! You nailed it with the aesthetics! Not too many horror games this jam, so I'm glad to see you represent the genre well!
I admire people who ventured to develop a story-driven game like this. It's hard to make this kind of games enjoyable in 48 hours, nevertheless, you managed to do it. Well done!
The only problem I had was the starting text which didn't want to disappear for a considering amount of time.
Hi, we're glad to like it :) thanks for the feedback.
We did plan on making a proper tutorial, maybe with a small separate room, but we lacked the time to so it ended up being a fat wall of text :'( and we can't have it disappear on a timer, because it's a bad practice that penalizes slow readers, so it disappears when you fetch the light bulb. But that's also not optimal because since it's a fat wall of text people expect the controls to be deactivated and don't start moving
Amazing how you made all this in two days, along with also developing an interesting atmosphere at the same time. Lots of good content and beautiful art, would love to see more!
That was great! Always impressed when I see so much story in a jam game, and it was quite well-written and exciting to follow too. Was slightly confused at the start since all the bulbs seemed lit, being yellow, but after understanding how it all worked, it was very helpful that they were visible even in the dark as I strayed from the first lit area. Great atmosphere and music. Movement a bit floaty perhaps. Overall a solid entry from start to finish—nice work!
Nice game for a jam, it's challenging to come up with a narrative in 48 hours so that's praiseworthy ;)
Nice Game, really liked the art style and the narrative aspect.
Was a bit difficult for me to find the right directions. Maybe give some more hints or make things a bit more clear.
But, nice game, very polished for 2 days of work :)
Great game! Really well made and a lot of thought placed to it. I think it would be nice if there were pages to some of the lengthy text so it doesnt get too small too read. I like story games but if the text gets a bit too lengthy, I get a little lazy to read everything. I'm amazed how much could be done in 48 hours. Good job!
Very nice looking game, but I don't understand what i've done to complete it. I was just going to every room interacting with all things. Anyway it's very well done. Good job!
Yyyyeaaah we really lacked the time to implement feedback for the player's actions, actually you find pieces of keys with the clues, and they open doors. There should have been things like "a door has been open" or something to tell you you had made progress, but we just didn't have time. Glad you enjoyed it though :)
No problem! I have similar issue in my game on the last level. I haven't had time to add notes and the last puzzle can be a bit to hard to solve because of that. You can check it out if you want. https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461920
I'm really liking the overall aesthetic of the game, especially the 2D art (I wish the 3D art could capture the same style more, but that's gamejam art of course). I do feel the mansion is just a tad too big and it's pretty easy at first to get stuck, which feels pretty unfair if that ends up killing you. Near the end of the game I was kindof wandering about aimlessly trying to find where to go next. A smaller mansion and maybe some more clear signposting of doors opening would help. Maybe use some directional sound so players at least have a vague direction?
Not too fond of the twist ending, it feels a bit last-minute and perhaps it would've been better to end with the mystery unresolved?
Hey, thanks for your feedback! Very glad to hear that you enjoyed the game!
Yeah, it was hard to estimate accurately the size of the mansion until very late sunday evening, and even more so in addition to the light&dark mechanic.
We intended to have clear feedbacks with sound design, unfortunately we didn't have time to implement them. And we didn't realise that the player had literaly no other way to know that a new door was opened until it was too late. Clearer mentions that you completed each "phase" of the game would have been very cool. Your idea of directonal sound is very intersting, we will think about it when making a more polished build!
As for the twist ending... yeah, your comment is spot on. We didn't really know how to end the game properly and felt it would be a bit strange to leave it unresolved. The idea was actually present in our mind very early, but we didn't think about how to bring it subtly until we had more or less everything else in the game. Maybe you're right, and mystery would have been better than a half baked end, but still that was the story we wanted to tell so we did it anyway.
Anywayn thank you again for your comment, it's really appreciated!
Good atmosphere, very well done.
The bulb mechanic is nicely done (my submission revolve about a similar idea but different execution).
