Really fun and I like how you have to start making choices of which type of enemy you need to prioritize first

Developer

Got lucky that the enemy design worked as well as it did, because I really didn't have enough time to playtest.

i really like this one. it's simple, fun and adheres to the theme pretty well!

Developer

Thank you!

The Prewave introduction to the enemys was great, I could learn how to fight them before being throw into a horde of them. This game has been the best presented ive played as for as tutorialization goes in the entire jam so far. Great overall

Developer

Thanks! Speaking of "tutorialization": what do you think about the invisible tutorial on the main menu? ;)

Submitted(+1)

do you mean having to shoot the start button cause that was quite good, having the play required to interact with the basic action of the game before they can start is a great way to get players started.

It's like when in a platformer you have to jump to hit the start button, really good stuff

Really neat game, interesting mechanics and enemy design!

Developer

Thanks!

Fun arcade-shooter. Clever main mechanic!

Developer

Thank you!

I like the color change when you get hurt. It's simple but it works well. Good job :D

I also made a little video compilation of games from the game jam and you're in it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mJWndlAIwk

Awesome!
I'm gonna give your game a try :)

A very good example of a game where the simplicity enhances the experience. It's a game that is immediately understandable, even when new elements are introduced. Great job!

Developer

Thank you! "Immediately understandable" is what we must strive for as game designers :)

Really cool game! I Enjoyed the different patterns of the enemies! and it gets difficult pretty fast. Missed the sound a lot :( ! Great job!

Thanks for checking our game!

Developer

No problem ;) Thanks for playing!

A great game! I find it difficult to play using WSAD, but I believe it would be great with an actual stick! I like how you used letters as enemies!

If you'd like to check ours: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463231

Developer

Thanks! "Letters as enemies" was a "happy accident" which worked excellently.

Verry fun and dynamic , and the difficulty is well balanced .

Good job !

Developer

Thanks!

This was REALLY fun! Loved the way you folks used the jam theme, the difficulty level seemed on point, the different enemies were well thought out and felt balanced (I've never hated werewolves more, and I've watched all the Twilight movies...). It also felt surprisingly juicy, with the flashes and the little screenshake!

I loved the way you pulled off the cooling off mechanic, it works really well and keeps the game dynamic. Also was a fan of changing the screen color to represent the ship's health - a simple but very elegant solution!

Sometime I'd find it hard to aim where I wanted, but it didn't worsen my experience at all. I think it contributed to making the game feel challenging but fair.

Great job, one of my favourite entries :)

Developer

Thank you so much!

i like the art direction and the enemy variety but it needs sound effects and music and i found it hard to aim where i wanted

Developer (1 edit)

Our audio guy was out of town during the jam, unfortunately. SFX are priority one post-jam. Thanks for playing!

This was fun! I did really badly but I enjoyed it a lot. Very simple but great.

Developer

Thanks!

It was pretty fun, the only thing I can really think to say is that it was completely unrealistic to have a vampire with two hearts. I mean come on, where did he get the extra heart? Anyways, pretty great, some music would have been nice though.

Developer

Maybe that's its only heart, and its chest is wide open :O
Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Quite enjoyed that, simple and effective.

If I had to give it some criticism is that it can feel very tedious having to constantly move back and forth when a lot of enemies follow you from the same angle. Perhaps more enemies, less hits to kill and a bit of a faster movement on the player ¿? No idea but nothing some polish can help. its a solid work, good job

Developer

The chasing algorithm needs more work and some rethinking. We'll work on it post-jam. Thanks for the feedback!

Yous deserve 15 stars for your creativity and great enemy design..

all the best

Kindly, return the favor by trying mine and leave your feedback:  https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/431948?after=40#post-878701

Developer

Thanks a lot! And already beat you to it ;)

Submitted(+1)

Well thought, loved how it feels, and actually it fits the theme.. I wished that letters can't go on each other how even I liked Rambo feeling when I shoot them all..

Good job! I enjoyed it.

Developer

Thanks! Sure thing, the chasing algorithm needs some rework.

Best game I've tried so far! Great controls, fun gameplay, good use of simple graphics. I hope the game gets polished, expanded, and published somewhere!

Developer

Thanks! We'll see what we can do ;)

Loved this! I would suggest that you find another way to make firing the bullets visually interesting, as the flashing background is a bit sore on the eyes (especially, I would imagine if you have photosensitive epilepsy).

Developer(+1)

Trust me, it was WAY worse. My eyes actually hurt during playtesting. Had to do it this way because I knew I wasn't going to be able to add SFX, which would be better feedback (at least I think so) than flashing. I'll have to do my research. Thanks for the comment!
