Love the concept.  I felt like I was living through attack on titan.  I feel like this could be amazing if you keep working on it and address the issues people are mentioning in the other comments.  Well done.  This actually inspired me to want to make a similar game.

Developer

Thanks for your kind words. I will definitely make the improvements people have suggested. I'd also quite like to take it further if there is an audience for it, maybe making a small campaign (as have had a few good ideas on that). My world is chunked so I could make a much larger island / islands and make a much slower build up to the game.

Hey glad it has inspired you for a game, that's always a great compliment in itself. Hope it works out for you and you will have to let me play it when you are done!

Interesting defense and management concept, it's quite fun and entertaining to play, although it can be pretty frustrating when the towers sometimes don’t detect the Gullivers and don’t shoot at them even when they’re literally right in front. I’d love to see further development in the future with more features. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comments. I would like to develop this further if time permits and there is an audience for it. Either way I'll fix those bugs and add a few features / improvements people have said as all good ideas. Thanks for playing.

Oh, nice concept for the theme. A couple things I would like to be added to the game/suggestions. 1) Being able to zoom out with the camera a bit more. 2) Building cost information in the menu scene so I don’t have to read them during game play. 3) Maybe a base resource that would generate over time? Right now if a couple of buildings get destroyed during a raid, my economy is done and there’s no way to recover. (or maybe there’s something I am not getting). Good job on a nice tower defense entry.

Developer

All great points and would improve the game no-end.

Actually I'm really seeing the positives of getting other people to test the game (other than family) as these are things that we could have done and should have, sometimes hard to see when right at front of you.

I'm developing a game on steam currently and reckon I'll set up some stress testing/demo build up on an early build.

Thanks for playing the game.

Nice game, I liked the hex and low poly asthetics. I got to lvl 5, but my catapult didn't seem to fire. I suspect it's because I didn't have enough people, but it was hard associating what resources you have and when they would return. So I think a little more feedback to the user would go a long way.

Developer

Yes definitely needs more feedback. I think there is an issue with the towers not firing after maybe killing another giant (seems to be what causes it). However range of catapult is only about 1.75 hexes so could be a range issue?

Thanks for your comments and playing the game.

Positive ✅
🔺 Loved the low poly models
♟️ Always nice to see strategy games
😱 First giant encounter was terrifying
🩸 Blood effects were good
⚙️ Resource management worked well

Suggestions 🛠️
🐔 Chicken sound on the farm gets annoying after a bit
❤️ Town center health bar would help
🎵 Some music would enhance the experience
📊 Progress bar for construction would be a nice touch

(My notes — formatted with a bit of help from AI — hence the emoji explosion 💥)

Great submission!

Developer

Thanks all great points and would be good improvements.

Thanks for playing.

We both had the same thought! The low poly 3D aesthetic worked really well, and the gameplay worked. Perhaps an in-game 101 on the economics of the world would have been handy - I got to the point where I could build nothing and do nothing. That repeating music got really grating after a few repetitions!

Developer

I do need some why of stopping running out of resources, normally when you have lost all the wood yards.

Thanks for playing.

a nice little farming tycoon! you did a good job on it and your team should be proud!!

Developer

Thanks :-)

Perhaps needs a little more music to make it more epic but there’s no doubt that, overall, the theme and mechanisms are appropriate. The enemies remind me of the manga Attack On Titan. Maybe that’s why chickens make so much noise in this world haha.

Developer(+1)

Yes it really needs some music adding, I've actually found a perfect one to use with it (well in my mind!). So I'll add that and upload the updated version post jam

Great mechanics and game loop. I saved this one to come back later, really reminded me of Age of Empires a bit, which is a good thing. I made it all the way to level 5 I think.

My biggest thing that bothered me strangely enough was the chicken SFX when I built a farm lol. Perhaps a script with a timer of some sort to determine when to make the chicken sound so it's not playing non stop all the time. But this is awesome, well done!

Developer(+1)

You are tight, that sound does get annoying. Like your idea on a script to control it (and I will lower the volume on it).

I had wanted to do walls (inspired for AOE) but ran out of time. Also the complexities of building them in lines around corners etc. Also the giants are so big they could just step over them!

I'd like to continue it and work on a bit longer post jam, just not sure if it would be of interest to many people long term as I guess it's a fairly short game in terms of each game time.

Thanks for giving it a go.

Submitted

Nah, the shortness imo gives it a bit of a rogue-like quality. You keep going until you get got, so to speak. Also, I never got the same level/map setup twice. That helps a lot with replayability. Is the map procedurally generated?

Submitted

Fun to play.

Tight concept, well executed. Some of those background sounds were a little overpowering (chickens?)

Solid start and a great entry.

Good job!

Developer

Thanks, much appreciated.

Fun game! The bell ring jump scared me too, lol! Enjoyed the concept of it! The resources were difficult to obtain over time with the giants destroying my buildings a lot. Wish the buildings had hp bars and more health. The towers could use a little more range too.

Developer(+1)

Agree with all these points. However still not sure about health bars on the buildings as don't want it to be intrusive. I was thinking maybe a tooltip (on hover/click) or maybe show in the bottom right on hover...

The tower range is a bit annoying as also really needs feedback to the player as otherwise guesswork - it was planned but heh time just flew by !

Thanks for playing the game.

Submitted

Good game. That bell ring came out of nowhere and made me jump. haha

Developer

I must admit that's my favourite sound effect, makes me instantly scan the horizon looking for enemies :-)

Submitted

Cool game! I really love the concept. There's an issue where the cost and the info about each building doesn't always display and when it does, it doesn't always display correctly, so it was hard to know what to build while not knowing what it's gonna give me.

Other than that the game is pretty solid. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Yes think the issue seems to be when the mouse comes from above the Building icons, when done left to right seems to work. Very odd but I guess most bugs are initially !

Thanks for playing.

Submitted

Really cool game! The bell was a little jarring the first time it rang lol but I enjoyed playing. I had several towers spaced out but only one was shooting so I guess the others were a bit out of range. Gulliver smash.

Developer

Yes tower range is approx. 2 hexes, however the catapult and Mage tower are a bit less. I need some range indication circle when you click on a tower, or hover over it. Thanks for playing the game.

Submitted

Great idea, I liked the perspective! For some reason my towers stopped shooting after a while so I got beaten at level 2 but I still enjoyed it, was like a good mix between a couple of game genres

Developer

Not sure why that happens, it seems fine normally but definitely a bug somewhere there!

Submitted

I love the idea of Gulliver's Travel's from the Lilliputians perspective, nice tie-in to the theme!  I think a bit of feedback on each of the buildings (name, current health, etc.) might be nice.  Nice job though!

Developer

Yes for sure, needs more feedback. I was torn on doing it as a tooltip or as a bar on the buildings but thought that would look messy. However definitely needed. Thanks for your comments.

Submitted

Liked this, struggled to make it past the 3rd day though. At one point my archer towers stopped shooting, barely saved it by building a catapult in time haha.

Developer

Yes I think there is a bug there, as they should fire, the range is only 2 tiles but it does seem to happen from time to time...I'll investigate :-)

Thanks for trying the game out.

Submitted (1 edit)

It's not usually my preferred genre but I really enjoyed this. I liked the giants and I liked that the things you could build were a nice balance of varied but also not too complicated. It was a bit difficult for me but I do suck at these kinds of games so that's not on you haha. Great job on the game!
P.S. just to be controversial I kind of liked the chickens...

Developer

At last someone else who doesn't mind the chickens!

Submitted

Nice take on the theme.  I think time moved a bit too fast, but it was fun.  I never was able to place a lumberyard though.  And it gets hard quick, so defenses are important :)  Good job on this!

Developer

Thanks, it definitely needs more help/tutorial, basically there is no specific area to place a lumber camp, any woods on the island. However if you've not placed one and used up all the wood then that's a big problem! As many people have said and are right, the town centre should also produce basic resources to keep the game moving. Thanks for playing.

Great game! Just pollish up those assets and it will be a certified banger!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I think polishing is a skill I need to learn, along with keeping to plan!
