An engaging twist on the tower defense genre. Very well executed. I really like the concept of combining currency and health into a single mechanic. The game offers plenty of upgrade options and progression. A solid, strong title – congratulations!

Great project! I made it to wave 11 and got eaten by the boss in the end ^^ Honestly, I liked everything about it. Fun 5/5. Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for trying it out!

Unfortunately, my machine/browser really bogs down with this game and as a result it becomes unplayable.  However, both the graphics and concept did look really neat!  Does it have a lot of 3D objects maybe that slow down older hardware / browsers?  In any case, nice game concept and graphics, but unfortunately I can't evaluate it any further than that with my configuration.

Hi there!  Thanks a lot for letting me know about the performance issues.  The cell in the middle is a low poly sphere.  The enemies are all single quad/tri.  I do have a whole bunch of shaders running so it could be those?  I'm pretty new to game dev and shaders so I'm sure I've done many things that are not optimal.

By any chance can you share any info about your setup?  For example which browser your using and any relevant computer specs?  If not, no worries.  Thanks again for the heads up and for attempting to play my game!

Sure can, thanks for the follow-up comment.  I'm running Firefox browser under Linux, in a low screen resolution (1024 x 768) by modern standards.  I don't believe I have GPU/videocard hardware acceleration enabled due to driver limitations.  Using an older NVDIA GPU.  However, I can play videos without issue, and most 2D games and even some 3D games do perform adequately (inside the browser).  I have experienced some difficulty in other browser games too, particularly those using the Unity Engine (some will badly lag, and others seem to just freeze up entirely in the loading progression bar at about 80% progress).  In the past I've had a few problems also with Godot Engine games running in the browser, but again that is not all of them either (it's a bit hit and miss, some work just fine and others have seemed to be either very laggy/slow and others as I recall would not execute at all).  That's good to know that the graphics / 3D objects you've used are low poly; that would have been my first suspect if there were many 3D objects especially higher-poly ones.  I'm really not sure other than that what the causing factor might be.  Possibly it's just the Unity Engine is having issues with my configuration?  It's hard to diagnose what might be causing the issues, thanks.

Developer

Awesome, thanks a lot for the detailed info! In upcoming builds I will see if I can make any improvements to performance though I'm not sure how much difference it will make.  Thanks again.

I seem to recall that the Defold game engine does a really job with older hardware and low spec machines.  I've never used it myself, but maybe sometime I will try it out.  Also, Godot engine seems to be a little less demanding than either Unity or Unreal, but of course the demands of any engine are affected by its feature set, and Unity has a lot of features that these other engines (not Unreal) don't have.  It might be an interesting project to try to make your game using a different engine like Defold and compare the performance results using older hardware.  Good luck, that's really neat that you are making new builds of your game and allowing it to evolve and mature!

Super fun game, I usually get hooked on defence games like this. The end of wave 8 was absolutely brutal. Wish I could play more but I got wiped.

Fun mechanics and upgrades, wish could do a bit more with the mouse cursor except holding if over the centre and catching power ups.

Developer

thank you so much for the feedback. It seems lots of people die on wave 8 so in an upcoming build I will tweak that wave so the enemies are a bit more spaced out.

Thanks for mentioning the desire to do more with the cursor. I will try to think of something more for the player to do in downtime . I didn’t want to make a click-for-cells system because then the game economy is really hard to balance and anything can be overcome with rapid fire auto clicker.

Do you have any ideas for what you’d like to do with your mouse in that downtime?

Submitted

Even if I could do tiny damage to enemies by clicking or hovering over them would be nice. The trade-off would be between getting more points to spend or defending from attacks. Maybe some enemies you can only kill with the mouse or you can "drag" them away a bit, like a pulse?

Developer(+1)

Ah I see ok I'll try to think of some more stuff to do with the mouse!  Thanks for the great suggestions!

This game hooked me from the beginning to the end! Fun, Simple, Theme-fitting. I have a question, though. Why isn't the Cursor Warmth already enabled by default? Wouldn't it be more intuitive? I lost the couple first tries because I wasn't able to gather stem cells in time to buy the Cursor Warmth. The little black square got me first, hahaha!
I hope more people check and play your game! It is really that good.

Developer

I will revisit cursor warmth. I made it so for the opening few seconds the only thing you can afford is cursor warmth. My hope is that by doing so people would figure out how to use the shop in the sidebar and also learn about the tooltips on hover.  If the user has cursor warmth right from the start how do I teach them about it without a tutorial?

I’m glad that you eventually figured it out. My goal is for the gameplay rules to be discoverable without explicit tutorial. But I will rethink this and for the full version maybe I’ll put in an optional tutorial that provides more info.

Reallly appreciate your feedback!

Wow! Great game! I just had to play to see if I could finish it...got to the end of Wave 11 and then lost to the boss. I could see myself playing this while listening to podcasts or something. Well done!

Developer

awesome, thanks a lot for trying it out!  I will be updating it after the jam ends if you’re interested in seeing it grow.  Thanks again!

This was simple but fun.  And very tiny as befits the theme. Well done :)

Developer

Thanks very much!

One of the best takes on the theme so far—it truly feels like a tiny world!

The game looks simple, yet it's very cool. The ability to retry a wave makes it feel more friendly and fair. Some sound effects could help further enhance the atmosphere, but overall, great work. I’d love to see more content added.

Keep up the great work!

I really liked the visuals of the game and the implementation of the theme, very simplistic and gives off a very medical/bio vibe. The game progression and the mechanics are really well implemented and the movement of the cells felt very natural. Didn't know the white cells could die at first. A pretty complete game that is just missing music and SFX. Overall good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and commenting!  I will definitely add sound once the jam ends.

Submitted

Wow. Many mechanics are really well done. The only missing thing is sound and bgm.

This game has potential and I think it can be a really good game with little polish.

Good job.

Developer

Thanks so much!

A very nice game, only thing it lacked was music and sound; good job!

Developer

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.  I plan to add music and sound effects after the jam ends.

It is really good and engaging! I really enjoyed playing it, I reached wave 8, and I couldn't hit them with my bombs hahaha

Thanks for playing my game!

super clever mechanics to combine everything into a single resource.
I made it to wave 8 and would probably keep playing if it had a soundtrack and sound. but well done anyway!
