Good level progression and puzzle design! A problem that kept happening to me - and even costed me a game - was that, sometimes, i was locked from moving into some avaiable directions and had to press W-A-S-D randomly until the game accepted a valid input. Usually, I'd just move in a invalid direction, such as a border, and the game would go back to normal, but, in the puzzle with the invisible things, the game forced me to move into a direction I knew had a trap.
Great story you've crafted around this game. I enjoyed it and the level progression was good. Very nice aesthetics, I liked the subtle screen shake and I love pixel art. Had fun with this - good job :)
That was great! I loved the story, the art, the music, I would have liked a way to speed up (not skip) the AI moves (hold E and it goes double speed or something) It is a me problem though as I have a short attention span.
Thanks for playing the game and for all the kind words. It really means a lot to me.
Nice game with challenging levels and good progression! Only weekness was the music, but all the other aspects are great!
Thanks for playing the game! I'm glad you liked the game progression. Honestly, it gave me a hard time trying to make something fun out of it, since I find puzzle games more challenging when it comes to level design.
As for the music, I totally agree with you. It was a last-minute addition.
Another thing about the game progression: the game originally had stages where the grid would shrink, either a row, a column, or both, in a pattern each turn. Unfortunately, I had to cancel that feature because there were some edge cases that caused bugs, and I didn’t have enough time to fix them during the jam.
A little pixel-art tactical gem! 🎮 Every move matters. Strategic, challenging, and super satisfying! Make this for mobile!!!!
Thanks for playing the game and for all the kind words. I'm really glad you found it a gem. With all the feedback and ideas I’ve collected, I think turning it into a mobile game could be a great next step. Thanks for pointing it out!
I had problems trying to input a key sometimes, I gave up on third level with the goblin mages and cheat to the next one... As others have said, it is too slow paced, very retro. But pretty good entry anyway!
Thanks for playing the game!
Regarding the issue with player movement, I’ve noticed it too. It does happen sometimes, but to be honest, I haven't been able to pinpoint the specific context that causes it. I’ve completed the game multiple times without it happening, so it’s been tricky to track down.
Good variety of enemies, and I like how you put a story behind it! Nice job
Thanks for giving it a shot. I really appreciate it.
like the idea and variety of different guys to have to think about. As others have said is was very slow, waiting for each wizard etc to take their turn. I would like them to get it over and done with. I also seemed to lag when taking my turn. The concept was solid and cut scenes were cool. nice graphics.
Thanks for playing the game! I’m glad you liked the general idea and the graphics. I spent quite a bit of time on those.
I like this game it was a very good idea, fitting totally with the theme. As the other said, the paced is a bit too slow, just that ! Good job !
Thanks for giving it a shot! I'm happy you like the game concept.
For a while, I really wanted to make a turn-based game, and somehow this jam gave me the perfect opening.
Nice work on this, the game was slow paced other than that nice job.
Thanks for playing the game and for your feedback!
Good job, it has a good story and the mechanics are interesting, but if you have a lot of enemies it can take a while for you to do your move, it may help if all the enemies do their movements at once, or just near by enemies attack, besides that the game was really good! great job :D
Thanks for playing the game and for your feedback!
I totally agree with you—the game can feel a bit slow at times. Although my intention was to capture the essence of turn-based board games, I can see now that it would’ve been better to either speed things up a bit or at least include an option to fast-forward enemy turns or have them all move at once.
As for the story, I’m glad you liked it! It was actually inspired by Hilda Season 1, Episode 2, and The Ant Bully (2006).
Nice job in making this cool little game. The artwork is quite lovely.
I'm glad you gave it a shot!
I like the game, I do wish that the emeies went a bit quicker as the game can feel a bit too slow at times
Thanks for playing the game!
I tried the game multiple times after submitting it, and I agree with you. I was aiming to mimic turn-based games, but I definitely could have made it a bit faster. Thanks for the feedback!
Very challenging game and fun!
Thank you for playing the game! I'm glad you found it challenging yet fun.
I like the art style and that the game even has a story :D
Thank you for playing the game!
To be honest, I was hoping someone would bring up the story—I invested a whole day planning and drawing those sketches for it.
Great job. The game was really difficult! The pixel art looks great.
Thanks for playing the game! I agree with you—sometimes, as the developer, you forget that you already know all the tricks, and what seems balanced to you might not be. I’ll invest more time in user testing next time, Insha'Allah.
