Simple and beautiful game. Like sound.
Good job!

How does your game fit the theme?
The ending the player gets is out of their control.

My favorite part about this is how as you repeat the cycle more and more you start to click on things faster or are tempted to click on the clock right away, I think this really evokes that "auto-pilot" feeling you get being stuck inside for days on end and I think it's very effective. Great job!
That’s a simple but good game ! It was calm and relaxing, and I liked the way you handled interactions with the “story”. Good work ^^
Such a lovely and unique game! Well done! How many endings?
Wow this was super relaxing and cool! I really like different rooms and writing/art. This idea is clever, you should keep working on it! Great job submitting to the jam, and I hope you learned a lot of new things! If you have time, please check out my entry :D
Thanks very much for playing NeatGames!
We’re not sure whether to work on it any further, and make it a bit more mechanically complex, but it’s comments like this that will decide the projects future - it really means a lot :)
I personally learned a lot - especially about the lack of 2d Post Processing support for the stack we used! - and had a lot of fun!
Will do, everyone who comments goes on the review list :D
So 2020. Nice work, and nicely set atmosphere. I like that the ending is unrelated to the player's actions.
nice art work! the person who did the pixel art has a bright future in gaming industry. good luck!
Love the atmosphere of the game! Would have liked if there were a little more direction in the story ending path you are going, in the end I was just trying things to get different endings.
I do have to say I really like how fitting it is for today's context. So thank you for this!
Really beautiful pixel art. The story is interesting in how it develops. Although I don't really understand how much impact you have over it.
I really like the game but I don't really see the connection to the theme. Is it because the character kinda "spirals out of control" while in lockdown? Congrats on the game! :)
Thanks for playing Erik!
It’s a bit of both - our mechanical interpretation to the theme was that the player has no control over the ending they get (you don’t have any impact at all), and our narrative interpretation was about the lack of control or agency we felt during lockdown, and being stuck in the same daily loop without being able to change anything.
Ahh I see! That answers both of my "complains" then. I also did a story game (although the story is pretty boring) and thought about making the outcome of the story out of your control ass well.
Gameplay wise (IMO, not trying to be mean or anything) I don't think it works to remove so much control from the player cause it ends up being more of a "visual novel" than a game; I feel like it's similar to making a puzzle game where the door might open or not if you are successful or if you fail. Still an interesting concept that could be developed further. And again, great art and story! :)
Thank you for highlighting the interactable objects. I got both endings.
I recently got my own apartment and am living by myself for the first time. With everything shut down I have almost zero contact with other people and am struggling to deal with that, so the theme really hits home. Good job!
Nice vibe, very melancholy. I stumbled into the "good ending" on my first play loop and I wasn't sure how I did that, but it didn't feel like I solved anything, just kind of randomly clicking stuff. maybe you could make it more of a puzzle lifting the player out of a state of depression with sequential puzzles (i.e. go to computer, order light bulbs, wait for them to arrive days later, replace, improve you mood? maybe..) Definitely a cool "Groundhog's Day" kind of repeated day theme. One thing on audio- make sure you balance the music with sound effects, I couldn't hear much of what you added. The music was very fitting.
Here's the game I did the audio for if you wanted to check it out: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/696287#post-1639104 thanks!
Thanks very much for playing Michael!
We wanted to make the loops more meaningful with ongoing progression, and if we continue the game after the jam that’s exactly the style of thing we would put in (right down to ordering new lightbulbs!), but we didn’t have time to do it during the jam itself sadly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for the audio feedback, definitely one to improve for next time :)
Very relevant to today's world. The mood is great. Though I do wanna know if there's any easter eggs.
It's a great game.
Very interesting emotional expirience. I really enjoyed this sad, melancholic vibe and story was very relatable.
As a musician I can say that I didn't enjoy some clicks in music because the loop wasn't perfect. And whole game would benefit if some sounds were a little softer.
Overall it's good view on a jam theme "Out of Control" and expirience that I would like to repeat. Good Job!

This was definitely an interesting game, but I could not figure out how to get the good ending. However, it was definitely a different interpretation from what I was expecting!
