Nice take on the connect 3 game type, I for sure didn't expect the AI to be playing on the same board as me xD I think 30 ants was a little too high of a goal with the amount of current complexity, but well done!
Yes, 30 is definitely too much — I went a bit overboard. I just wanted there to be a lot of ants in the anthill 😄 Thanks for the feedback!
Very nicely done! I liked the clever fusion of match 3 and resource management. I thought the ant colony theme and story was a great idea. Wonderful job!
Thank you :)
Had a great time playing this
Thanks :)
Nice item matching game. Games of matching genre are always fun to play. good job my friend.
Thanks :)
Really nicely crafted game :) It was nice to have the extra challenge of picking resources. I just wanted my little ants to extend their lair as their numbers grew... maybe start with a smaller anthill (how could one ant build all of that at the start anyway?!)
On a technical note, the layout is not screen sensitive - full screen mode made me lose the leftmost column of goodies! No biggie, but something to fix since I think this game could be developed well into a full offering :)
Thanks for the feedback! As for fullscreen—I assume you're not using a 16:9 resolution, which is probably why you're having issues. I didn’t have enough time to properly adapt the game to all possible resolutions ;)
For sure. I always find that one of the most time consuming and irritating bits too - I completely understand :D
This is really well thought out and could be turned into a really good mobile game, just the sort of thing to keep you busy when waiting for something with your phone to hand. Great entry.
Thanks :)
You know, this was the final game in my backlog to reciprocally rate this afternoon, and I was expecting to play a couple of times, have a reasonably pleasant experience, rate and carry on with my day.
I cannot stop playing your game. Send help.
Seriously, I don't know what it is but it's so addictive. Absolutely in the top 3 games of the whole jam for me. Excellent work.
I'm really glad you liked the game :) Thank you for the kind words. My goal was to create a complete and relaxing experience, and I think it turned out pretty well :)
Wow this is such a fun and interesting game! Instead of just randomly matching any shapes, you really have to think which ones to match to grow your colony. I would say this is like an ideal cross over of the two genres!! Great to see, well done. Oh and the short tutorial was great, made things very clear :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I like mixing different genres — it brings a bit of freshness. I actually made the tutorial on the last day, and I’m really glad I managed to include it, because it really helps with understanding how the game works.
Wow, it's amazing what you did here, this is like Candy Crush but with a twist, a good one, it also looks great.
spectacular job!
Thank you :)
Anthills offers a refreshing twist on the match-3 genre with its strategic resource management and engaging ant colony theme. Overall, a delightful and well-executed game!
Thank you :)
Nice take on the match 3 puzzle Game. Very relaxing, a little too easy maybe and sometimes I wished there was less cpu players but overall great submission.
Thanks for the feedback
It's a fun puzzle game! I liked the ants walking a long the hill too.
Thanks :)
A very cool project—there’s not much more to say! I really like that all four players share the same board, it creates a fun dynamic. And I absolutely love it when games have little things moving around just for the sake of it. Great work!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)
A very satisfying game, im not a massive fan of match 3 games but competing against the CPUs was fun and the art on the right was lovely to look at
Thanks :)
Great idea and well thought out gameplay dynamics. Everything works beautifully and the game is addictive in a good way. This is pretty much a finished product for a mobile game, especially if a multiplayer mode could be added.
Thanks for the feedback! My goal was to create a finished product (of course, I had plenty of ideas for improvements, but 10 days just wasn’t enough to bring them all to life).
Addictieve as (ant)HELL!
With some story, this can be an absolute winner.
Great work!
Check and ratet mine game if you have some time.
Have FUN :3
Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)
This is a very nice entry! Nice mechanics. My only suggestion is that 30 ants is a little too much as limit, it becomes boring at a certain point. Moreover, you need some better feedback when highlighting the bottom panel buttons. The music is great!
Thank you for your feedback! I am also beginning to think that around 20 ants would be a better solution for gameplay. On the other hand, I wanted the anthill to look more realistic (which can be achieved with a larger number of ants) ;)
As for the bottom buttons, I thought they were already clear (the first two versions were completely unintuitive), but as you rightly pointed out, there is still room for improvement.
Using Match3 idea for the jam is great. But I don't quite understand the bottom graphic on how to lay egg, etc.
Good graphics and music though.
The buttons below the board are used to spend resources to purchase eggs, transform eggs into larvae, or transform larvae into ant. The goal of the game is to obtain 30 ants, so you must collect the appropriate resources and spend them on eggs, larva, and ant.
The text on the buttons shows what resources are required (those with negative values) and what you gain (those with positive values).
It's a fun game. Enjoy playing.
Thanks :)
I don't normally like match3 games, but found myself playing right through to the win. I didn't notice the ant stats for the opponents at first but that definitely raised the stakes on the regular gameplay. At times it felt a little unfair since sometimes cascading wins would mostly be caused by newly spawned pieces, but that probably says more about my lack of strategy than anything else.
Loved:
Would have liked to see:
Great fun, superbly executed. No bugs spotted in my playthrough....well except the ants!
Thanks for the detailed feedback! :) I had lots of ideas for expanding the gameplay, but time was really tight, so my main goal was to finish a playable version of the game. I’m not ruling out coming back to Anthills in the future and adding some new content.
No problem! To be honest what you made in the length of the jam is amazing. My feedback is more about where you could take it next than anything else!
