Nicely done :)
Needed to get my calculator out for the empires level :D
Ah yes, overcoupling, the bane of software projects the world over.
Design patterns and architectural templates are good places to start learning.
Some free advice (and free advice is worth what you pay for it...) work on naming things and using abstraction. If you do those well then even when you find yourself in a corner, it is easier to unwind the mess.
Thanks for persevering!
I agree hints , or just more direction from the storyline, would be an improvement. Given the time constraints and my personal challenges of "write everything from scratch" I just got the basics going (c.f. the fisherman who says nothing!)
I always find it a bit ironic that point and click is a format which masquerades as "real life in a game", attempting to provide an intuitive world interface, but almost always ends up as a cruel parser...
Really nicely crafted game :) It was nice to have the extra challenge of picking resources. I just wanted my little ants to extend their lair as their numbers grew... maybe start with a smaller anthill (how could one ant build all of that at the start anyway?!)
On a technical note, the layout is not screen sensitive - full screen mode made me lose the leftmost column of goodies! No biggie, but something to fix since I think this game could be developed well into a full offering :)
I almost made it a toggle, but thought it should reset on each move so as not to make it too helpful. Remember you can find hotspots with the cursor changes too.
He had no idea (nor did I!) while we were playing with lego for the last few weeks that it would end up in a game. But he was really excited to play it and find his toys in there.... :)
Nice! I actually liked having to decide to run through traps when they were unavoidable, it felt like a little bit of strategy about spending your health was required.
I think that when I won as single player trap placer it just stopped? I guess that's winning butmaybe having another level with less trap points would be more interesting?
Well done!
