This is a fun game.
Took a couple of plays to win, but I beat it.
I think the difficulty scaling works well, and the need to spend "bits" to be able to use the different weapons is a nice way to limit the usage of more powerful weapons and introduce a need for strategy.
Thanks for the game.
Great game! Really nice take on surviors! Some feedback: Would be nice if you could switch back and forth between weapons, not only next weapon. Cause if you want to go from 2bit weapon to 0 you have to click all the way through. And powerups spawned mostly all except for one in the bottom right corner so i just chilled in one place, i think if they spawned all over the map and had an indicator showing where they are game would feel a bit more dynamic. Other than that great submission!
Thanks so much for playing and the feedback. For the switching - yes you are right, would be a lot more flexible if we could go from 2 to zero directly, but we wanted to keep it simple and just have a one way cycle. However, we should have kept that option as well like binding it to keys 1,2,3,4 etc. We will try to keep that in mind for future. On the powerups spawning also you are spot on - an indicator would have been great! (Btw there were 4 places they spawned :D)
i love the concept of surviving like that and the system was really well made, the only thing i didn't know was i did not know where the powerups spawn or how to track them since i was just running from the enemies i somehow managed to find only the shield, i am not sure if there is other powerups, overall great game tbh! 10/10
Nice work. The weapon system was clever .. having them all available from the start but costing bits to use added a good layer of strategy. I liked the piercing shot best. The visuals were clean, and the glow effect on enemies was a nice touch. Music and SFX fit well. Solid jam entry
Great game! The viruses on my first couple playthroughs really had me running. Then I went to the writeup and learned that I could upgrade my weapon. You get locked out of using it at all though, if you try to upgrade without having bits though, as I found out my first playthrough after learning that.
First try!
This was great! I played through it several times after the first. I had difficulty locating the power ups the first time the message about them appeared and also didn't realize there were two near the bottom of the level until my second run. Interestingly the top two always seemed to be 2x Attack boosts, while the bottom two alternated at random (as far as I could tell) between health and shield pickups.
I like the idea of using the bits you get from defeating enemies to power your stronger weapons. I found that the second weapon, with its piercing effect, was strong enough to get through everything. It was fun to play around with the others as well. With so many enemies there was never a worry of running out of bits.
I appreciate being able to hold down the button for continuous fire!
The music is fantastic, I could listen to the victory song all day.
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! I love hearing about your experiences with the power-ups, it’s interesting that the top two were consistently 2x Attack boosts while the bottom ones varied. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for balancing or adding more variety.
I’m glad you enjoyed the weapon system, especially the piercing second weapon! Making sure the game stays fun and doesn’t leave you worried about running out of bits was definitely a priority.
Thanks again for playing!
Great game! Reminds me of Wedding Witch in a way -- probably because they're all similar in play style. lol Had a lot of fun playing this multiple times
Nice game. I enjoyed the different strategies of weapons and the difficulty scales well.
A very entertaining game, the cost for the different weapons made me consider when to switch in order to eliminate the biggest threats and then switch back so I could gather more bits for the next wave of harder enemies.
The game worked without any issues and it was fun, plus the soundtrack and SFX where spot on, really great stuff!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the gameplay and that the weapon cost system made you think strategically, that was definitely the goal! 😄
Also super happy to hear the game ran smoothly and the audio hit the mark. I really appreciate you taking the time to play and leave feedback, it means a lot!
This was fun! Great use of the theme! reminded me of an old school TV show where the guy had to fight computer virus inside the computer, super sentai style, haha! Great job! ✨
Ahh thank you so much! 😊
I’m really glad you enjoyed the game , especially the music and SFX! I had a blast putting that part together
Totally get you on the mouse aiming! I probably should’ve made that a bit clearer early on 😅 but I’m super happy it clicked and that you had fun once it did! Thanks again for playing and for the lovely feedback.
Hello :D i checked out your game cuz I found the little robo-dude adorable and your game did not disappoint :D I enjoyed the shoot with mouse-click which allowed me to aim while actively running away x33 It took me a while to find powerups though... for music and sfx I was satisfied, I was jamming while running x33. Overall a really fun game! Congrats on your submission ^^
Hey! 😊
Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words! I’m really glad you liked the robo-dude, Happy to hear the shooting and movement felt good, being able to run and gun was something I really wanted to get right. And haha, yeah, the powerups were a bit shy this time around 😅 definitely something I’ll make more obvious next time!
This is hands down the best game i have played in this jam currently. Lots of variety in weapons and simple and intuitive controls. The aesthetics are amazing, a nice variety of enemy types and power ups as well. I liked the shooting mechanic which fires in the direction, where the mouse button was clicked, which i usually find not implemented in such games. The controls are simple, yet responsive, for instance you want to switch a weapon in the middle of a battle, just right click that. Overall the theme is followed from the Aesthetics, to the mechanics to the outstanding music. Overall the game delivers on all fronts. Keep up the good work :)
[Query_01 : Have you guys used a Shader when the player hits the green viruses?]
[Query_02 : Which tool was used to create the game graphics and especially the amazing game intro?]
Wow, thank you so much! 😊 We’re thrilled you enjoyed the weapon variety, enemy types, and the controls, it was really important to us to make everything feel responsive and intuitive.
As for your question: yes, we believe we used Shader Graph for the effect when hitting the green viruses. And for the art, one of our team members used Aseprite, it was a great tool for getting that pixel-perfect look!
Thanks again for the awesome feedback! 🙌
What a wonderful game this is! The gameplay was responsive, the visuals and music were on point. The intro has a little bug where the camera color (solid blue color) is visible around the edges (the canvas panel was not scaled I assume) other than that I have no issues. Had so much fun, nicely done!
This was quite a bit of fun. Simple but effective. Music was bang on for the action. It took me a while to realise that the more powerful weapons were there from the beginning, and it's simply a matter of cost per bullet.
Thanks a ton for playing! 😊 I'm really glad you had fun, the “simple but effective” vibe was exactly what we were going for. And awesome to hear the music hit the mark for the action!
Yeah, the weapon system trips up a few people at first, we’ll definitely look into making that mechanic a bit clearer in the future. Appreciate you pointing it out!
Thanks again for the great feedback! 🙌
Cool game! Really enjoyed this one.
A couple of bits of feedback:
- I had an enemy spawn on top of me, which felt a bit unfair.
- It took me a while to figure out *where* the powerups were spawning.
Other than that really enjoyed, love you incorporated the theme, very creative!
Thank you so much for playing! Great feedback, you are absolutely right about both points. The first one is usually addressed by giving some sort of an indicator a few seconds before the spawn, which gives some warning. What we ended up doing was having an area where enemies spawned and coloring it differently to indicate that the area is 'dangerous'. But we couldn't communicate this to the player properly. Will keep this in mind in future! Thanks a lot :)
