What a trip to the past. As a 90's kid, I appreciate the vibe of your game so much, this really brought up so many games with this style that I used to play growing up. Fun boss battles, too, I was not expecting the bird to transform hahaha
Also, fantastic cutscene at the start of the game, really good work all around!
Love the concept, reminded me of Overcooked both in mechanics and visually!
Not sure if it's something that's been reported before, but I felt like sometimes my mouse input wouldn't register fully. Like, it would take a couple of clicks to get my mice moving from one spot to the other.
Other than that, I thought this was really cute and well executed, good job!
First of all, congrats on your first game jam! That is worthy of celebrating! I also started learning game dev from Gamedev.tv and it's incredible to now be participating on a jam organized by them! So hey, congrats on participating on your first jam, I hope you continue growing your skills!
The game has a great atmosphere, I loved how scary the spider is only for her to bonk on you until you're flat lol I would've loved to be able to see a little bit ahead of me while moving or even having the ability to move the camera a little bit while hidden would've been greatly appreciated.
Really good stuff, keep up the great work!
If Monthy Python ever taught us something, is that cute lil bunnies are never to be messed with!
I've never played an auto battler before, and to be honest, I completely lost track of time playing your game.
I kinda wish I had the complete freedom to absolutely break the game and have my stats go over 99 though, but everything else worked flawlessly, great job!
Had a blast playing the game, managed to survive up to wave 8! Good enough for my host, apparently cuz he was all better haha
I really liked the different behaviours of the enemies, that variety really adds up to the quality of the game. The animations where cool as well and i didn't encounter anything that really bothered me, overall, very solid entry, good job!
A very entertaining game, the cost for the different weapons made me consider when to switch in order to eliminate the biggest threats and then switch back so I could gather more bits for the next wave of harder enemies.
The game worked without any issues and it was fun, plus the soundtrack and SFX where spot on, really great stuff!
Very interesting take on the theme, those giants running towards my lil town had me on my nerves, I was trying to build so fast to ward them off haha
Only thing that I could comment on is that I wasn't sure if my buildings where producing resources at first, so my first run was a little bit confusing, but overall great game!
Hahaha I didn't read the part about collecting the boxes along the way and ended up with a -2 score hahaha Tried it again collecting boxes this time and it seemed way easier than when I was avoiding everything lol That spike in difficulty really kept me on the edge of my seat too, really cool stuff!
Wow, the amount of content in this for a 10 day game jam is just impressive, congrats to the entire team!
Really loved the different mechanics with the weapons and variety of enemies, it really had me hooked for a good while trying out the different combos I could use. I also appreciate the easy retry every time I would get owned, I am not a souls like fan and I don't think I would've had the skills to beat the game otherwise haha
Also, TWO bosses, not one but two. You guys are insane, a standing ovation from me, really great work!
Really good effort, I think it's mostly missing some audio to help immerse the player and give them some sort of feedback when they hit an enemy or get hit themselves. I also had a bit of a hard time finding the passageways between rooms, I had to constantly hug the walls until I found the next area.
The enemies responded well though and I enjoyed playing a traditional top down adventure game, very reminiscent of the first Legend of Zelda games! Good stuff!
For a moment there I thought the map was endless and the objective was a red herring to keep me playing golf in Silent Hill forever lol really solid mechanics, I did jump off walls and had to restart a couple of times, which was a tiny bit frustrating as the map ended up being so huge and having to start over again was a bummer.
But the tension was there, man, I was expecting a jumpscare at any minute!
Lovely art style, everything played and looked great.
It's a challenging game, for sure, could not figure out the proper ratio of pawn to soldiers for the life of me hahaha
I did encounter a bug though, after beating day 7 I got two upgrades at once and while on the planning phase I got attacked by the goblins. Kinda weird as I could buy more troops to replace the ones that where getting killed at the same time lol
Very solid mechanics that delivers a fun and addictive experience, great job!
Hey, Mathias!
Wow, thanks so much for the great and detailed review! We definitely wanted the player to discover how they could best utilize the dung ball to hit multiple targets in a row, we thought it would add to their agency and also add a little bit of risk and reward to the gameplay!
We appreciate the kind words, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
Cheers!
I DUNG you not, that is exactly one of the abilities we came up with when designing the game hahaha unfortunately we ran out of time and couldn't add any of the survivor like mechanics we wanted to, maybe in a future update!
Thanks so much for playing and sharing your kind words, it means a lot to us!
Cheers!
Not gonna lie, I felt a little bit cheated that the upgrades weren't doing much hahaha I spent so long grinding and the only upgrades I could notice did anything were the ones you purchase in the main menu.
Other than that small thing, I think the art is really good, gives me A Link to the past vibes, the one for nintendo switch, that is. The gameplay was smooth and I had no other issue other than the upgrades not working.
Very fun and addictive, good stuff!
Wow, what a polished game! Loved how you guys executed the theme for the jam, really creative take on "tiny worlds"!
The UI and artwork is very professional, it wraps up the theme and gives it a very charming look. I was surprised to discover how close the terrarium has to match the picture, including how the items end up inside cuz sometimes the physics will mess you up and getting those 3 stars is a challenge for those willing to piece the terrarium with minute detail and care.
Thought the story was really cute and the characters had great dialogue lines. 10/10 would let Lady Mantis bite my head off.
Kudos for the awesome artwork! I liked the concept very much, I do feel like a little more polish on the jump would've been greatly appreciated as I had a hard time trying to cover the entire area as the roots grew larger. Even something tiny like increasing how much I the player can jump would've made a huge difference, for me at least.
I finished the game by night 11, really cool stuff!
What a lovely game, I must say, I know there's a bunch of games in this jam, but I can quite certainly say this will be one of my faves (If not my absolute fave) of the jam so far!
I loved everything about it, the story was really cute and I found the bouncy animation very charming. I was very surprised when the birbs started stealing my stuff, I was not expecting that twist! My only gripe, really, is that I was having a blast until the very last item. For some reason I found the raspberry to be very well hidden and it took me quite a while to find it. By the time I found I was feeling a bit flustered already.
But it was worth it for the animation at the end! 10/0
I encountered the same bug as WillTheWater haha I interacted more than once with the shop vendor and had to reopen the game because I couldn't get the windows to close.
I like the game mechanics, it's the kind of game where progression is fun to unlock. There's plenty of potential here, different kind of enemies, base building, you name it! Really good entry!
