Cool concept! It is pretty fun

Submitted

It took me 81 shots to get to the hole. I liked the spooky atmosphere. I think a first person kind of game would be even cooler. Great job!

Never would have thought horror and golf but you pulled it off well! This game is a great launching point for several ideas, jump scares, "first person" golf through a horror world. The haze and music combined makes a great atmosphere. There were a few times I jumped the track when at power 100. Overall, awesome vibe and fun game :D

Was cool playing this on stream with you there :D Yeah I wish that I had more of a path to follow or something to show me the right way to go. And you saw lol I dropped out of the world a few times because of collisions errors. But the vibes for the game were really great. Felt very spooky :O

Submitted

wait this was so cool! the fog and music really set the horror vibes! i didnt find the hole yet, but i am determined to go back and find it! great job on the game

Submitted

haha, how funny, we both have mini golf games with exactly the same assets - but very different gameplay! nice spin on it. nice work and liked playing it

Submitted

Nice mix! I've almost lost hope finding the hole)

Nice game idea. The atmosphere gives it a cool scary vibe, but it feels a little repetitive and I do belive some enemies or something to stop you from reaching the goal would have made it even better. But good job so far.

The concept of Horror+Mini-Golf is interesting...  Mashups like this have worked in the past (Belatro comes to mind).   A bit more work on the mechanics maybe, I  seemed to shoot right through what I'm assuming are supposed to be bumpers.

For a moment there I thought the map was endless and the objective was a red herring to keep me playing golf in Silent Hill forever lol really solid mechanics, I did jump off walls and had to restart a couple of times, which was a tiny bit frustrating as the map ended up being so huge and having to start over again was a bummer.

But the tension was there, man, I was expecting a jumpscare at any minute!

Submitted

The atmosphere sets a really nice mood especially with the fog effect. But I kept expecting to see zombies or some enemies. I did make it to the end though! I like how the light signals the hole. It was very exciting when I finally found it.

Wet got an horror game here.
It’s just golf, but the ambience is tense

It a nice game in general, but here are some things that I found frustrating:

  1. The ball falls off the edge too often.
  2. The map is huge!
  3. I don't know how to go. Even if that's part of the game, the map is huge so it gets very repetitive very quickly. And if I set the power to the maximum just to try to get somewhere faster, I immediately fall of the edge and it resets.

Other than that, the atmosphere and idea are nice.

Developer(+1)

yeah the ball falling is a physics thing i ran into randomly. next time ill code it using kinematic with my own vector calculations. thanks for playing and the feedback.

Had an ominous feeling while playing the whole game. It did feel tedious having one giant level, but I didn't mind it as I started to feel like I was exploring the space! Overall I enjoyed it a lot!

I see the potential in this but the music triggered me, is the crackling deliberate?
I was getting the feeling that the game was running at too high FPS and maybe that is causing sound conflicts.

Happy to have given it a try,

Developer

yeah sorry about that, the music was a last minute thing, and i suck at audio, so i just picked something decent and threw it in there.

all good mate

Definitely see @Miniature Giants' feedback.

The game was fun for the first little bit, but became rather repetitive.  I think I actually managed to find the hole, or triggered a reset because I was teleported back to the start with a shot counter of 0.

I don't really think it needs to be much more different, just either a smaller map, or different kinds of obstacles to break up the gameplay a bit.  Maybe something like Radioactive Zombies patrolling certain areas looking for victims that the ball can bounce off, or maybe an off topic scoring system for how many you can hit?

Developer(+1)

yup, ill remember from now on, just add zombies to everything! :D

Was just the first thing that came to mind fitting the theme of your game :P

I actually played this game when you posted it in the forums for testing!

Ok so there are a few things here. First - the good:

  • Your mechanics are so solid. the power adjustment, the bounce when you hit a wall, the over-powered shot etc. - these all feel exactly how I would expect to feel them play in this kind of game. They might be a touch forgiving but they are really solid, and the mechanics work very very well.
  • The atmosphere - I love that scary post-apocolyptic feeling and for a while there you totally nail it. You feel a real sense of dread when you start playing. I really loved the fog, and the way you used the light at the end when you win.

Some things you might want to consider to evolve the design of the game:

  • Like others said in the forum comments - the map is large. This isn't a problem in and of itself. The problem is that the map is quite monotonous. A lot of it looks the same. It's essentially a 3D maze where I think if you go more or less straight you get out of. So how might you evolve it if you had more than just 10 days to work on it?
  • For a big map, I'd consider having check-points, or spawn-points, or maybe a safe zone. I'd also consider having some kind of clues a long the way to gently nudge the player in the right direction. Then, the map could be even bigger with this stuff in place.
  • I'd also consider adding some zombies that can attack you if you move to slowly, or some holes in the walls so you can go out of bounds and 'die' if you're not careful.  You could basically aim the ball at the zombies and run them over.
  • I'd definitely make more use of the kind of lighting you had at the end just because it looks awesome and adds to the feeling of the game.
  • The music: I totally get why you used this tune - it's got a perfect kind of creepy, scary feeling to it - but on a big map the tune needs to be longer and more varied or you need a couple of tunes you can play in a sequence.

Overall I had a lot of fun with this game and I would love to see you continue to build on its potential. I hope you dont mind the long feedback - I've decided on this jam to try and be as positively constructive as I can be for games that deserve it, because just going "wow cool game! play mine too" - doesn't add any value to anyone on their game dev journey,

Developer

this kind of feedback is exaclty why i posted it on the discord and forums early. and you are absoulty correct i should

have put more lights around the level, but i didnt because it lagged the web version out quite a bit so i left them out.

maybe next time ill code in some kind of distance turn on thing so it wont lag as bad.

the map was large because i tried this large map idea out to see if it would go well. lesson learned the majority of

people didnt like it, or thought it was too repetitive. ill remember to change it up as i go along and put more stuff

into the game. ALSO i never even thought of putting zombies into the game. that would be a fantastic idea.

thanks for playing and the feedback.

I like the Idea here, but I think the colliders make this game hard to play. The repeating level and obstacles on the course were too much. The music and environment were really good. Good job! Since we both did mini golf go ahead and check out my game submission for the Jam. It's minigolf on planets, let me know what you think.

Developer

thanks for the feedback. alot of ppl said the colliders and physics were poop, so next

time ill do my own vector calculations to avoid any physics errors that might occur.

your game was actually pretty fun i liked the concept. nice job.
