I actually played this game when you posted it in the forums for testing!

Ok so there are a few things here. First - the good:

  • Your mechanics are so solid. the power adjustment, the bounce when you hit a wall, the over-powered shot etc. - these all feel exactly how I would expect to feel them play in this kind of game. They might be a touch forgiving but they are really solid, and the mechanics work very very well.
  • The atmosphere - I love that scary post-apocolyptic feeling and for a while there you totally nail it. You feel a real sense of dread when you start playing. I really loved the fog, and the way you used the light at the end when you win.

Some things you might want to consider to evolve the design of the game:

  • Like others said in the forum comments - the map is large. This isn't a problem in and of itself. The problem is that the map is quite monotonous. A lot of it looks the same. It's essentially a 3D maze where I think if you go more or less straight you get out of. So how might you evolve it if you had more than just 10 days to work on it?
  • For a big map, I'd consider having check-points, or spawn-points, or maybe a safe zone. I'd also consider having some kind of clues a long the way to gently nudge the player in the right direction. Then, the map could be even bigger with this stuff in place.
  • I'd also consider adding some zombies that can attack you if you move to slowly, or some holes in the walls so you can go out of bounds and 'die' if you're not careful.  You could basically aim the ball at the zombies and run them over.
  • I'd definitely make more use of the kind of lighting you had at the end just because it looks awesome and adds to the feeling of the game.
  • The music: I totally get why you used this tune - it's got a perfect kind of creepy, scary feeling to it - but on a big map the tune needs to be longer and more varied or you need a couple of tunes you can play in a sequence.

Overall I had a lot of fun with this game and I would love to see you continue to build on its potential. I hope you dont mind the long feedback - I've decided on this jam to try and be as positively constructive as I can be for games that deserve it, because just going "wow cool game! play mine too" - doesn't add any value to anyone on their game dev journey,

this kind of feedback is exaclty why i posted it on the discord and forums early. and you are absoulty correct i should

have put more lights around the level, but i didnt because it lagged the web version out quite a bit so i left them out.

maybe next time ill code in some kind of distance turn on thing so it wont lag as bad.

the map was large because i tried this large map idea out to see if it would go well. lesson learned the majority of

people didnt like it, or thought it was too repetitive. ill remember to change it up as i go along and put more stuff

into the game. ALSO i never even thought of putting zombies into the game. that would be a fantastic idea.

thanks for playing and the feedback.
