This is really well thought out and could be turned into a really good mobile game, just the sort of thing to keep you busy when waiting for something with your phone to hand. Great entry.

You know, this was the final game in my backlog to reciprocally rate this afternoon, and I was expecting to play a couple of times, have a reasonably pleasant experience, rate and carry on with my day.
I cannot stop playing your game. Send help.
Seriously, I don't know what it is but it's so addictive. Absolutely in the top 3 games of the whole jam for me. Excellent work.
Wow this is such a fun and interesting game! Instead of just randomly matching any shapes, you really have to think which ones to match to grow your colony. I would say this is like an ideal cross over of the two genres!! Great to see, well done. Oh and the short tutorial was great, made things very clear :)
Wow, it's amazing what you did here, this is like Candy Crush but with a twist, a good one, it also looks great.
spectacular job!
Anthills offers a refreshing twist on the match-3 genre with its strategic resource management and engaging ant colony theme. Overall, a delightful and well-executed game!
Nice take on the match 3 puzzle Game. Very relaxing, a little too easy maybe and sometimes I wished there was less cpu players but overall great submission.
It's a fun puzzle game! I liked the ants walking a long the hill too.
A very cool project—there’s not much more to say! I really like that all four players share the same board, it creates a fun dynamic. And I absolutely love it when games have little things moving around just for the sake of it. Great work!
A very satisfying game, im not a massive fan of match 3 games but competing against the CPUs was fun and the art on the right was lovely to look at
Great idea and well thought out gameplay dynamics. Everything works beautifully and the game is addictive in a good way. This is pretty much a finished product for a mobile game, especially if a multiplayer mode could be added.
Addictieve as (ant)HELL!
With some story, this can be an absolute winner.
Great work!
Check and ratet mine game if you have some time.
Have FUN :3
This is a very nice entry! Nice mechanics. My only suggestion is that 30 ants is a little too much as limit, it becomes boring at a certain point. Moreover, you need some better feedback when highlighting the bottom panel buttons. The music is great!
Thank you for your feedback! I am also beginning to think that around 20 ants would be a better solution for gameplay. On the other hand, I wanted the anthill to look more realistic (which can be achieved with a larger number of ants) ;)
As for the bottom buttons, I thought they were already clear (the first two versions were completely unintuitive), but as you rightly pointed out, there is still room for improvement.
Using Match3 idea for the jam is great. But I don't quite understand the bottom graphic on how to lay egg, etc.
Good graphics and music though.
The buttons below the board are used to spend resources to purchase eggs, transform eggs into larvae, or transform larvae into ant. The goal of the game is to obtain 30 ants, so you must collect the appropriate resources and spend them on eggs, larva, and ant.
The text on the buttons shows what resources are required (those with negative values) and what you gain (those with positive values).
I don't normally like match3 games, but found myself playing right through to the win. I didn't notice the ant stats for the opponents at first but that definitely raised the stakes on the regular gameplay. At times it felt a little unfair since sometimes cascading wins would mostly be caused by newly spawned pieces, but that probably says more about my lack of strategy than anything else.
Loved:
- Ant themed progression and ant colony activity on the side,
- Great introduction text, that made things easy to follow
- Nice choice of music
- Game a decent length and the race to build your colony made the genre much more interesting!
Would have liked to see:
- The colony impact the gamplay in some way, or perhaps it could have been made cartoony, with ants interacting in quirky ways.
- More sfx (perhaps chains could have ascending chords for each continuous match like peggle, 4 in a row or T shape matches could trigger different sounds.
- At times the oppponent AI seemed to take it easy on me. It could have made more eggs or young ants but simply didn't. Not sure if I liked this or not, since once I realised I was pretty confidently going to win the challenge was removed.
Great fun, superbly executed. No bugs spotted in my playthrough....well except the ants!
I like the game like a match 3 incremental game, interesting combination. I would add some extra features like if you match 5 to get an extra move or something like this.
Loved your take on match 3, Instead of mind-numbing, well, matching 3 of the same icons it is a strategy game where you manage resources. The ants chilling on the right make the game come together i just love watching those lil guys. Great job on the game! Next time please build for web though, nobody likes downloading potential malware, so anybody without a web build gets a lot less plays, plus since you're working in unity it is pretty simple
The Music and Aesthetic are really good! i love you game great job😊👍
I really like the anthill visual on the right and wish it had more impact on the actual gameplay. Having no interactions (that I could tell?) between eggs / larvae / worker ants and the board made the distinction between them a bit fuzzy. I was just saving up enough resources to lay, hatch, and grow the ant all at once. I feel like there's a lot of potential to deepen the gameplay by adding more interactions between the state of your anthill and the game board!
Three CPU opponents also made the board change a lot between turns, so it was hard to think ahead beyond the current turn.
The controls/UI/animations were all very smooth! Nice work!
