The pixel art and music gave it a nostalgic feel. I liked that you could just collect coins without needing to fight. Some enemy variety would have been nice, but im sure out of scope for a Jam, and I did notice the enemies could be tricky to dodge at times. Overall, fun and well put together

Nice concept!

It would be more challenging if you added more enemy variations.

Cute game! It's fun!

Everything looks and feels great. I played it by myself but I can appreciate making a local multiplayer game for kids. Nice job all around!

Yay, manage to collect that gem eventho the enemies are hard. maybe lower the diffultiest. Good BTW!

It was a real bullethell experinence!

The movement of the player and the enemys are fluid, but when enemys are floating, it is a bit hard to dodge.
It would be better with some story, but I understand that, the story is not so important for the kids... But some cutscenes with the best ninjas, or together... like a TMNT movies.
It was an exceptionally fun and cute game.

Good work!

Unfortunately I don't have anyone here to play the game with, so this was a solo victory.

I'd be interested to know if this game fulfills its goal of having young children play together without fighting or crying. :)

I appreciate that, in addition to the player's being immune to harm, you don't have to defeat the enemies if you don't want to. It's enough just to get their coins.

Yes, my kids ages 20 months, 4 years and 6 years played for about 30 minutes yesterday without fighting or crying (a rare occurrence these days)! While the “every-character-gets-their-own-coins” mechanic meant no one was crying because someone got more than the other, I didn’t count on the difficulties that would come from my older 2 kids needing the help of the little one to actually complete the levels though…

Nice game play. It's giving Nintendo nostalgic vibes. Good work!

Loved the game. Reminds me of the old school Zelda games. Could not play the game with a gamepad though(Are you sure the D-pad , x, b and left and righ shoulder buttons have been mapped correctly for the gamepad?, see the Input Map in the Project settings, could have been missed there). Loved the pixel aesthetic of the game. Nice Music and Sound Effects. Completed the game which showed a Congratulations screen on finishing it. Keep up the Good Work :)

Thanks for the feedback and the kind words!

Unfortunately web versions of the game don’t seem to detect gamepads for some reason. I made my own dynamic input mapper instead of the one in Project Settings; there will always be at least 1 Ninja (the keyboard) and +1 Ninja available at the selection for each gamepad detected when the game starts. But, if there is only 1 Ninja, no gamepads were detected, sadly. Maybe it’s a browser permissions issue or maybe I didn’t configure the export correctly, or maybe an engine limitation. I’ll have to look into it.

Sure. Web version of the game could not be detecting due to focus outside the window. But the game pad also did not work on the windows build as well. Here is a screenshot of my bindings(Custom Ones) for the game pad and it worked on both the web and windows builds of the game. I have highlighted the gamepad mappings. I have tested these on an old school retro gamepad Microsoft Side Winder gamepad USB.

[Note: These use standard custom keymapping rather than the custom dynamic mapping you have created via code, which would be needed for more than one player]

Finally, I can fulfill my dream of being one of those little rubber quarter machine ninjas! Thank you for letting me live that dream! Cool little game!

I like the simplicity of this game - simple rules, super execution. Everything is consistent with each other. The possibility of playing many people and the target audience to a great strength of this production. Congratulations and good luck!

Very well made game! I always appreciate a simple gameplay loop over complex one. I do have a few critiques, but ultimately nothing major.

There seemed to be a bug where after killing an enemy you could still take a hit, like if the enemy was briefly alive and was just not visible. I believe a health-bar would've been great for the UI, since there wasn't really any way to take how much the player has. Finally, the main menu controls to start were unresponsive at times which made it hard to play the game.

Thanks! I noticed the same “invisible zombie enemy” bug that you did but only after submission :D

The player can’t die by design but maybe a health bar for the enemies might be a good idea going forward.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
