Really nice theme!

Very cool! I thought the theme and gameplay was great. Took a little while to figure out the UI mechanics. Great job!

I think I hate the dog.
He’s always there to disturb my world.
Great game,

Look and play great!! but hard to navigate upon start

Submitted(+1)

So creative! Once you figure out the navigation, its a lot of fun :)

Love the aesthetics and gameplay! Really neat idea and very fun. Found the UI a little difficult to navigate, which made the game a bit harder for me. That dog is brutal! Very fun and cool little game, great job!

Nice. I enjoyed the gnome theme and how you built in the resource collecting with water. The dog really was a beast.. it took me out the first time before I figured out what to do. Good that there is a way to charm it but it wasnt obvious at first. The art and music fit well for the style. UI was a bit small in places. Would have liked some more sound effects but I'm sure time was a factor. I think with a bit more onboarding or a gentler ramp up it would be easier to get into. A very impressive jam. Solid foundation for a game.

Very cool, The dog is so powerful my archers where demolished and I lost everything. Great work!

Super cool! I love RTS like games with workers and the such, and a big congrats on getting the amount of complexity in the game in only 10 days! It definitely took me a few tries to not just get bodied by the farmer and the dog (where I just built up resources during the safety start to have enough to win), but I won and got to pet it in the end! I think there needs to be a bit of a slower on ramp for players, and I had some UI bugs where the icons would become very very tiny, but overall great job! I wanted it to be longer!

Seem like a  great base to a strategy game. Art and music fit well  too.

Submitted(+1)

Quite a fun and interesting game idea. The art style and the music is quite nice. Good work!

Interesting game, but a little too complicated for a jam, I think. I need a little bit more of a progression with some hand holding but great job finishing what you did!

Nice and fun concept. In fullscreen i kept selecting the entire gameVideo for some reason making everything in a blue tint, dunno why.

You can kinda lock yourself out of the game in several ways, which is a design decision not all games want to make. Some randomly appearing dewdrops which the player can collect with the mouse could help there and even give the player a little side stuff to do. The tutorial was helpful, but for players like me with a really small attention spawn an activateable overview about all the stuff would have been nice too. To look things up what they did.

Controls where nice but there is a bug that selecting another building option while last building was on a valid spot places that building. A fitting cursor would have been nice, one of the toDos i try to never forget in any of my games, easyly done and has good impact on the game imo.

The graphics where to some degree ok but could have been so much better, especially for a fun concept like this. Would have loved to do the art for this one.

Theme fits very well too. In overall a very solid submission :)

Thanks for all the feedback. A custom mouse pointer is a good tip that I never really gave any thought to and giving the player a way to see the controls after the tutorial is a good thought. Also I should have included a way to sell buildings which would probably fix the locking yourself out of progress issues.

As far as the graphics go I agree that they could be better, but the problem is that I work alone and am much more comfortable with programming then art. Also I have to move fast so I can get everything else done. I could use assets but I typically want very specific things which I can't necessarily find in free asset packs. At the end of the day I would rather make the game I want then be limited by what I can find for free even if the overall look is worse then what a real artist can do.

Anyway thanks for taking the time to play and I'm glad you had fun with it.

It's a really fun game, but I don't know how to handle the dog, but I won. Keep improving.

Developer

Thanks for playing, I don't think I did a good job of communicating how to deal with the dog. The dog can't be beaten by archers he needs to be charmed by an animal charmer. Then you can pet him.

Fun game! Dope to see gnomes doing their stuff!

Submitted(+1)

This was so much fun - one of the few jam games I've played multiple times. Good job on this!

Submitted(+1)

Oh man! Another comment says the dog was too powerful! He crushed me the first time! Got him the second time! I thought this was a really fun game. Watching the gnomes collect water was a really neat addition to gaining resources.

I think the only critique UI wise I have is how small the tree and cloud are in the bottom menu bar. For me, they were about half the size as the rest of the options, number text included.

There doesn't seem to be sound effects at the moment, but I think a throwing sound effect for the  lil guys throwing their spears would be awesome and elevate the project immensely with that small addition! Hearing more and more as they build up in numbers would be so satisfying! :D

Developer

Thanks for the kind words. I totally agree about sound effects. I wanted to do something, but unfortunately didn't have time. One day I'll learn to appropriately scope my games.

THAT DOG IS TOO POWERFULL  LOL

Developer

Sorry, lol, out of curiosity did you figure out how to deal with it or did you give up?
