This is amazing, really love the graphics and style! It is quite polished as it is, and I'm certainly curious how to get some of the other endings. I might return to this one and try again after the jam is over, just trying to rate as many as I can in the meantime. Fantastic work, your team should be very proud!

This game is so well polished. Just the main menu is exceptionnal! The graphics, the style, the parallax effect, the story its all awesome! The level of detail put in this game is incredible! Also, the sound for the attack is funny xd its nice

Okay, so I played through your game for four times. The first time I had collected some of the orbs and died in the truth cave. The second time I died in the death cave (there was no warning?). The third time I had collected all of the orbs and died in the truth cave. The Fourth time I didn't get any of the orbs and got the truth ending. I guess that shooting all of the orbs will result in the other "ultimate ending". My feedback on the game is the following:

  • It's interesting that you're not supposed to collect the 'collectables'.
  • Great background music.
  • The map is a nice addition, but doesn't show in which room I am. Lot's of checkpoints was also nice.
  • The movement speed is pretty slow and it's difficult to jump over the enemies; especially if you don't yet know that you can shooting with L.
  • The character only jumps if he's grounded (not when he was grounded 0.1 seconds ago), which gets annoying really fast when you need to jump close to the edges of platforms to make the jumps.
  • I couldn't pick up the orb behind the orange circle door (bug), but I was able to open the door. The lie above the orb was pretty funny though.
  • There is no warning before entering the death cave.

We are glad that you invested so much time in our game! The map was not supposed to show the character position, since there are only 13 rooms in total and we kinda wanted to emphasize the exploration part of the game. The orb behind a circle key door is not a bug and its a fake orb, you can count the orbs on the map and see for yourself :). The point of the Death Cave is to be a misdirection and a surprise, so putting a warning would not make much sense.

We aware of the mild frustration caused by jumping and speed of the character, probably caused by the fact that some players do not know that they can hold "W" to jump higher. But again, its our fault that we did not make that clearer in the game. As for the grace jumping, well you are 100% right, that is a problem and we are going to try to avoid these types of mistakes in the future games.

Definitely one of the best! The art, animation, story, characters, sounds, music, gameplay ... everything is perfect! One really tiny thing - I'd prefer the character to move a bit faster. But besides that, I had really fun. Everything fits perfectly and is very well polished! Very amazing job!

It's amazing to see a well interpreted theme put together all nice and polished by a team of talented people! 

Besides the pinpoint jumps, no bad thing, only good and surprising twists! Clever and well interpreted! I wish I could finish mine, with a conclusion to the soul's journey, like yours.

Rated - Super polished game great!  I love the style~ a mix of Blackthornprod and Hollow Knight, super beautiful.  And best looking menu screen in the jam (and I've played and rated over 100 games) Great job!!  My one suggestion would be to make the left and right movement speed just a bit faster.  Even jumping over the enemies at full speed you can BARELY make it over them haha.  But still, great job!!  Please check out my platformer, I tried to do a Hollow Knight style melee attack (first time doing melee) Good day!

This game is amazing, I've played it for half an hour to get to the purifier ending.

I don't want to spoil it for others but some design choices were really clever, the characters looked awesome and the dubbing was really fun and cool! 

The graphics in general are really really cool and the soundtrack is neat. The sound fx are cartoonish but in a good way and fit the game perfectly.

I really liked that you used the theme of the jam in more elements of the game and not only in the dialogues part. This is one of the few games where the theme feels like a part of the game and not forced inside it to make it work for it.

It was a fun experience and as I was playing I really wanted to get at least one of the trophies.

My only issues with the game are: 

1) the jump animation which I think is a bit too short, sometimes I had to repeat an easy jump three times because I was not on the edge of the ground; also in the last part where you go to the cave of truth the jump part is annoying because if you try to jump while walking towards the edge of the platform you will fall every time.

2) if an enemy has prepared a shot he will shoot you even if you kill him first.

That's it, this is a wondeful game and it's unbelievable that you made it in just one week!

It is so awesome to hear that someone actually got the Purifier Ending! WP man! As for the feedback of the controls and enemy attacks, we appreciate it very much and we are going to try to polish this kind of stuff in future games. And yeah, we had so much fun doing the voice acting, so we are glad you liked it :)

Overall a solid game. There a few a technical things that you could clean up, but I liked what you have here. For example, some coyote time on jumping would be much appreciated, rebindable keys (many people don't like to use a direction button for jumping and prefer space), and a faster walk speed would all serve to heighten what you have here. Atmosphere is top notch.

Game jams are the place where people can develop their passion to creating games, meet amazing people and have a lot of fun. There are games that do have some charm or games that are extraordinary, but what's important is the passion. And by looking at your game it fills me with overwhelming passion. It's not just the art or music that is amazing, I basically feel that you gave your hearts into this game. While I was playing this jam games there were several that really moved me and I really wished I could make games like these oneday and after playing yours I have to add this one to the rest of these magnificent games. Wish you best of luck!

From the main menu it was super special awesome, art-wise and the particle effects were super special space. With that said, I think the gameplay is a bit frustrating but if you are extremely diligent and patient, I think it is very easy and I liked the story a lot. Good job my dude!

I must say that i really loved the game, the art is incredible, the music is so good, it fits the theme very well and the story is really nice. But the player movement is the only thing that dont feel to nice, the main character is too slow for the amount of backtracking you have to do, i wouldn't mind having to walk again all those rooms if it wasn't so slow and everytime i restarted i didn't wanted to go trough everything again. And also theres a bug that demotivated me to look for the second ending, when the player falls in a hole it seems like the game doesn't know where to put a checkpoint for the player to go back when he dies, so when i died after going in a hole without passing through a zone with a checkpoint i needed to restart (This happened to me twice bc i forgot that it happened the first time kkkk). I said here the negative part in my opinion because i think it's more important to see where we fail so we learn more, but i really really loved the game, it's winning material in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback! The sad part is that we actually found the respawn bug shortly after the deadline ended, so i posted a little disclaimer and a description on how to avoid it. As far as i am aware, you cannot pin comments over here (or if you can pls let me know how :) ), so the comment got lost here somewhere in the comment section.

We apologise for the frustration caused by the bug and we will do our best to prevent these kinds of mistakes slipping through in the future games.

Beautiful art and interesting concept. I do feel like the platforming felt a bit unresponsive at times when I would be trying to move and jump at the same time. 

Have to admit I didn't see the end. Trusted Umbra and didn't trust the happy old man so I was sent back to the beginning twice and didn't feel motivated to continue playing. Maybe if in addition to killing the player when they're tricked, something was revealed about the nature of the game world so it didn't feel like a random loss?

Actually, managing to die in a Cave of Truth reveals one of the most important information about the game/world :)

Okay, so I went back and tried to get to the Cave of Truth without collecting any of the glowing orbs, but there is one orb blocking the entrance to the cave. Am I doing something wrong?

Really good game, the art style was very nice and the audio design is great. The only thing I didn't quite like as much was the player controls, often I felt like the player could have jumped a bit better or moved a little quicker, or had grace jumping which I saw someone else mention. But apart from that the game is great!
