Hello, like many players I guess, I died several times in the very beginning. Today, I've lost everything (for the third time, grrrrr), my raft was nice and quite tall, so I had a lot of food and water, but I forgot to eat and I died (it's completly my fault). I 'm quite disapointed and I wonder if you could allowed players to restart with their last save instead of loosing all and forcing them to restart the game . It will be punishing by loosing our progression, but not frustrating by restarting from the beginning .

Good greetings.

I've a few things to recommend if you feel inclined to read this post. Please understand that I understand this is only the very beginning parts of the game. I am not at all complaining, just offering personal opinions and thoughts. Also, if anything mentioned here was already mentioned in a previous post, I am unaware and apologize.

1.) When standing in the sunlight and I begin casting a shadow, I see only arms hanging in the air. It was humorous, but figured you should be aware.
2.) Fishing rods extend through the boat, as in, I can fish through the planks of wood. I do not think that you should be able to do that, aha.
3.) Perhaps this is my own interpretation, but take it as you will. The coconuts seem to continue rolling, never fully slowing down, it would be nice if they did halt after a certain distance.
4.) Harvesting one click at a time is tedious, a one click harvest sounds like a good idea.
5.) The waves splash through the bottom of the raft, if intended or not, I am not certain.
6.) The shark is predictable. I think adding different patterns to the shark's behavior would be engaging and interesting to the player. Instead of just attacking a plank a running away, perhaps at certain times it wont stop until beaten. Perhaps after being stabbed it will disappear under the water, only to reappear at a different location upon your boat. I can build a two layer foundation around my boat and forget about the shark, only repairing every once in a while. At the start of the game it was like "OmgBBQ #itscomin4me GG" , after my two layers and a large enough boat it was of no consequence to let the shark add some fiber to its diet.
7.) I think a snap feature for the cooking tools and plots would be a nice quality of life upgrade.
8.) I could not remove cooking tables, water purifiers, or potato plots without destroying the foundation. Also, this is a bug I believe, after destroying a foundation piece with two water purifiers and two cooking tables upon it, I could no longer place a foundation at its location and when I used an ax in the air, it make a sound and animation as if I was hitting something.
9.) Adding a reef system into the game would be a great way to make it feel both alive and allow different resources for a more intricate crafting system. Perhaps puffer fish poison could be added to spears for damage over time. Seaweed for bandages or new foods. Etc.
10.) One last thing about the shark, there is no reward for killing it. After killing it and receiving some food, which I can easily fish as much for less hassle, a new one spawns immediately. It feels as if ignoring the shark by building a large boat is the best way to go about things instead of trying to fight it.
11.) I can't rotate nets. My boat was not symmetrical in one of its three dimensions, this has traumatized me and has caused me to weep uncontrollably.
12.) You have the potentiality to later on in development create a sandbox world, perhaps spawning in islands, wrecked boats, reef systems, or underground caverns to explore based upon a randomly generating algorithm. It would allow for something new each game and add a lot to the game as a whole. This could allow for wildlife to be included into the underwater terrain as well, allowing it to feel more alive and interactive.
13.) Not needed, but immersive, day and night cycles would be interesting. With the moon shifting phases. This allows for items such as torches to be added.
14.) I would love to see the options for the raft's design increase. Obviously it's a little limited at the moment, but seeing as it's the main point of the game as far as I see, it seems like something that might deserve some attention.
15.) Nets have no hp bar when repairing them.

I tried the demo and did enjoy what time I played within. I will be watching for further development and hope it does indeed do just that. I would happily purchase a completed version of this based on what I have seen so far. I look forward to seeing the path this game takes. If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

For the night mode coming in 1.0.5

you could make the players fatigue run out much faster because the water is cold, which will eventualy lead to the player drowning quickly at night

In the real world, water often takes a long while to cool down at night. I could explain the science behind it, but to keep my comment short, I'd still like to say I agree with your idea. The water would be cold enough to start hypothermia about two to four hours after the sun goes down (translated to game time, approximately 1 and 1/2 to 3 minutes after the sun goes down).

Hypothermia itself should also make the player a bit hungrier for a while even after they get out. Perhaps a 3 to 4 minute hunger debuff? The torches and other fire-utilizing items would help the debuff go away faster.

make the game multiplayer....2 players coop...or more players..and the posibility to mkae a server.LAN server.....

That resolution is already in the game launcher. Select it before clicking 'Play'.

I think they should add more building options, like furniture or different tipes of walls/floors.

Maybe chairs or doors or hatches or ladders.

Tables and chairs are in the latest update. I hope ladders get added at some point. The stairs in the game right now are bulky.

Hi there i've got great news for you all i was building a large raft when i discovered something i wish that it stays in any of the next versions

i discovered that :


I CAN KEEP THE SHARK AWAY AND PREVENT IT FROM DAMAGING A VERY LARGE AREA OF MY BOAT!!!

build a new world and keep it a world for just trying this

this is totally an insane adventure

just hack your second profile using cheat engine > http://www.cheatengine.org >

then try this

you have nothing to loose

build a large raft as you would like (largest 15*15 foundations) then go to the front-left edge of your raft

now build one line with the length of 18 to 20 foundations (the ground floor) in each of the two out directions of this edge

finally kill the shark once

now the shark will stay in a very small circle -Pretty,isn't it?-

even if it attacked all of it's attacks will be on the two lines that blocked it's moving

watch out if you built the raft to block the shark then matching the two lines from the outside will cause the game to get crashed

And i wish that they also add :

+ Multiplayer that friends can help defending and building

+ Difficulty list for beginners and\or hard gamers

+ Increased package value (10 is too little to carry) to about 64 or 100

i don t want bugs(insects)in raft please you can put a button "apply bugs" as a exampel but if you can t don t put

You should add several new fish/other marine animals(or even birds and stuff) to fish up or encounter(like the shark)

Maybe a whale shark that if it bumps into your raft it destroys 1 or 2 segments, or tuna that is between mackerel and shark for eating, maybe some cute little sea otters who will be your pet and catch some fish for you, a sea gull which you can shoot down(using a bow and arrow or throwing spear which could be added), dolphins which distract sharks and jump around in the distance, multiple kinds of sharks such as mako sharks(faster than normal and can jump out of the water a bit), great whites(does more damage per bite), multiple kinds of fish such as cod, haddock or other kinds I can't think of at the moment and maybe... SEALS!


Anything you add to the game though I'm going to enjoy probably!

you should add a furnance to burn wood to make charcoal. Whith the charcoal you could power lamps, etc...

1. I think u could make it so if you fail to kill the shark 3 times in a row, (because you're starter and u have no spear) it would just go away for about 10 - 15 minutes ?

2. You should definetely add more uses to scrap. I mean all there is to it right NOW is tools, a few chests, the water purifier and then the cookery. I mean yeah ur making a lamp so thats cool i imagine its going to use alot of scrap, and obviously if there's a lamp there's going to be a night time which im excited about, so about the ideas for scrap. I think as u start a world, there should be another island, and it has an NPC ? or something like that and then u can add a trading station, and trade scrap to planks, or rope or something like that. or just add a thing like researcher, which researches scrap and turns it into another metal like copper, u make other machines out of that that help expand ur house and make it easier to survive.

3.Also, can u do something like a extended/upgraded hook with rope? it would make sense that if u add some rope to your hook it makes it longer :p

4. I also thought of one thing when i was making my cropplots and stuff.. yeah we need plank and rope.. but from where do we get dirt ? Maybe you could add dirt to barrels? And speaking of barrels, if you could add leather and then maybe you can add backpacks (which obviously increase your inventory space) but lower the inventory space? because 15 spaces for inventory excluding the hotbar seems a litle bit too much.

And these are all of my ideas. i have no idea if they will ever come to the game but hey, if they will im happy :D (Btw i didn't include the previous ideas cuz i wanted to be original xD)

How about special items (rare items that float on the water and are in barrels) like binocs, knives (and for low durability a knife sharpener) and if you get a throwing spear the hook could bring the shark to you

I did some looking around online, and it turns out there's lots of different types of whetstones. Some appear to be more durable than others. (Whetstones are used to sharpen blades.)

The throwing spear idea has been talked about a few times. Personally, I'd consider the throwing spear to be slightly dangerous to yourself. You might get yanked off your raft by the shark. Though if it does more damage, there might be a decent payoff.

ya, I'm on Mac and the water is really dark so I need to spot somehow

you can feed the shark(set up a cage) and it will not attack you for awhile (like 5 mins.)

Giant marine creatures passing under the raft and / or near it would be something incredible for the setting and the look of the game. Like a giant squid swimming underwater and whales going to the surface to breathe.

Whenever diving is implemented, I wonder if sea life (i.e. fish, crabs, lobsters, oysters) could be gathered by hand with enough player skill. (Not meaning an in-game level system, but actual tactics players can use from the beginning of the game.) I'm also wondering if sea shells or other resources could be gathered for purely cosmetic purposes (i.e. dyes and decorative strings). Fins to improve swimming speed would be very beneficial.

Since the shark would obviously be a problem while diving, it should probably require one of those submersible shark cages on a player-operated winch. The shark would attack the cage much like the raft, and after a while, the cage takes too much damage and breaks open.

Until diving is implemented, though, I'm with lots of other players: beds would be great in the next update. I'm aware it'll be awhile, though. Good luck to the devs as they finish up their college classes.

Things I think would be cool to be added:

Can you add backpacks and more uses for scrap meatal

A few ideas I've had:

  • Creative Mode: No food and water requirements, No resource requirements to build, weakened or no shark
  • Bed, possible sleep requirements
  • Spikes/Stationary spears defense: attaches to foundations, damages shark during it's attacks and makes it retreat quickly
  • Harpoon attached to rope- Functions similar to hook. but used for distance shark hunting
  • Thatch Roof- can be attached to top of walls like floors do pillars, but is weak and collapses if walked on.
  • Slower fatigue meter in water unless moving (sitting stationary in water is easy, swimming takes effort.

BTW, love the latest update with the lanterns and day/night cycle.

So, two things.

You should be able to put a engine on a mounting point and be able to drive around. Of course you would need alot of scrap etc. to build one.

Also you should get party muliplayer where you send someone an invite and you can play with them on the same raft.

Idea:

Backpack

Large chest

make it so that coconut fall straight down instead of rolling down to the sea (i dont have wall, so some coconuts just falls into the sea)

make a Scrap Foundation / fortify foundation with scrap

Make it so that food can get spoiled

Make a warning when the shark biting your raft (sometimes its hard to notice when you're buliding stuff on the 3rd floor)

make a weather perhaps, like windy weather or rain

make it so that you also need heat instead of just food and water, and also a campfire would be nice

and also can you make the shark just fight instead of running away after 3 hit? sometimes i purposely go into the water to kill the shark, but it keeps running away after 3 hit and its kinda annoying :))

Hey Raft Dev! I got some ideas that would be really cool if added in the 1.06 and/or 1.07 or whatever updates!

-Diseases (from drinking salt water or eating raw foods etc.)

-Islands (some are deserted, some have villages with tribes! you can loot them for materials or live there!)

-Sunken Boats (to loot of course)

-The Raft is always drifting so you can come across these islands and boats (or swim, whatever suits u)

-You can loot boat engines from sunken boats to make your Raft move faster

-You can paddle your raft if you craft a paddle but only if your raft is a certain size (small)

-No need for multiplayer, we already have a mod for that so dont worry :)

-Nails can now be found drifting in water and in barrels (you can still craft them though!)

-You can sometimes find craftable items (hammers, spears, axes etc.) in villages (common), sunk boats (common) or barrels (rare).

-You can throw the spear using Right Click (you can retrieve it)

-New Weapon: Knife (more powerful than spear)

-You can now use the axe as a weapon (it is the same power as spear)

-You can be rescued (ending of game, not sure how you get rescued though)

Please reply and tell me what you think! I think this would make the game more AWESOME than it is now!

I think a good idea would to be able to Select Different Locations. This way you can have New Scenery, Landscape and New types of Sharks. By having the players able to select the location, you can use this as a way to Change the difficulty by picking an area with either More Aggressive or Less Aggressive Sharks. To keep the game refreshing you can also add levels with multiple little sharks, an Easter-egg with a Jaws sized shark that can take out multiple foundations at once, and even a shark-less water for the guy that just wants to build.

After seeing the 1.0.5 update I get the feeling you might be going a warmth meter or something. If you are or aren't you could also make a Location in the north where it snows frequently and the player has to factor warmth more heavily. The Possibilities are endless.

I have metal, but I can't improve on the raft to the metal. Why?

After I downloaded the new update, here are some minor improvements, i would suggest:

  1. The night is way too dark, it feels like, there is no moon, cause he doesn't emmit enough light. The new water doesn't get lighter in areas around lamps, cooking stations; etc.
  2. In the beginning, the shark is now much harder, cause you have to hit him more then 3 times. Maybe the shark should get harder from time to time, but think 3 hits in the beginning is more then fine, because first, you have to fish and drink, to survive.
  3. Some type of clock should be implemented, so I know, how it takes to get day. Maybe some type of sundial, which you can build out of wood and some scrap

Still can't play because of bad optimization. I can't afford a powerfully PC, but "There is a 2 meters raft and some water, why 10 FPS?!"

What bad optimization i am running this on pentium 1.60GHz and it runs with 12 fps which i find playable for this game

The game is pretty cool, but after 2hrs, you have nothing else to do.

I don't know, and couldn't find if there is any endgame, like survive a certain amount of days, or get to land.


My suggestion to make it more enjoyable and last longer:

Add more attributes to the player, apart for food, water and health.

I would add sleep, so you have to sleep on the night, or whenever you want. If the bar gets depleted, you start losing your health. You could sleep on the raft, or craft a bed, so that you fill up the bar more quickly.

Another one could be temperature, so that if you're too hot, you have to go under shade, or if you are too cold, you have to go inside an light a fire.

More weapons would be cool too, nothing too fancy, a bow an arrows would be nice, and it would give use to all the scrap

If possible, you can add the island to which you can swim and collect different materials. In order to allow the movement of our rafts can add other materials needed to build the engine that would propel our raft.

or make an objective to find items to make a radio or something and get help. But then again, our ideas kind of defeat the purpose of the name raft and the concept of survival...

They can add storm, lightning bolts that burn buildings, and have tornadoes and whirlwind, the tornados would pull you to water if you have no protection and knock down the coconut trees. And the whirlwind would pull you away from its construction if you had it in the water, also affecting the shark. They can add scuba diving, going down there to get gold or crystal ores, making constructions the gold could make a machine that made the time and make a better spear, the crystal could make windows. You can add a shark trap construct with 10 gold, 30 fish and 25 boards, and the shark would get stuck there without being able to escape but the construction would break after use. You can add events from more than one shark to appear among other creatures, such as Kraken. They can add boat, but I am without idea the utility, if reading this far you decide your game is very good. And finally you can add viruses like fever and flu, and you need to make medicine to heal yourself. All these events like tornado multiple sharks can only be active after a few days in the game for the player to prepare.

Make it on xbox 1 too ill test it and tell you if it works smoothly and be cool to play with a controller.

Their should be an objective. I don't really know what, but their should be one.

It could be cool if you could add the option to remove the shark so i can enjoy the game without worying about him,and fish net to catch fish while youre busy with other stuff,and the ability to make spikes to put on the raft so the shark will go away right after it will start bitting,and finding other random abandoned rafts floating around and being able to throw your hook to make it stationary and go get loot from it

Maybe an indication of when the shark is attacking. Or more defenses against shark. OR more things that can kill you.

I had an idea of being able to find some new types of meat, within barrels perhaps, then being able to use that meat to throw and distract the sharks so you can successfully kill them.

The game at the moment is already very wonderful and definitely worth playing, but there are always things that could be added to make gameplay better. If it be performance, visuals, items or objects.

I wanted to make a list of what could be added in to the game

- Add multiplayer/coop option (with Player Vs Player enable/disable options and such)

- Add different weapons that are slightly stronger against the shark, but will also require more stuff to craft them (axes, throwing spears, etc.)

- Make the raft moveable in the water and anchorable

- Add in randomly generated islands to gather supplies and resources from (cannot build on islands would also be a good idea)

- Possibly add in a sandbox game mode?

- Add different types of materials for different things (iron, gold, stone, glass, etc.)

- After killing the shark, make it so it doesn't spawn again for about 3 minutes, to add for relief and relaxation

- Add a difficulty setting... Easy, Normal, Hard and extra Survivor modes

- Add in new and usable building objects such as beds/sleeping bags, campfires, wall torches, etc.

- Make it so you can see underwater and also be able to swim underwater

- Add in other wildlife/AI such as swimming fish, squids, octopus, and even land creatures like bears, wolves, crabs, etc.

One Really good idea would be upgrades like the floor of your raft can go from wood to stone to metal to concrete to titanium and to a point of where there may be an un-destroyable (by the shark) upgrade, but you would still need to balance the cost of some of these to were an unbreakable floor would cost like 100 of all materials, please also add durability to tools so there is a point of making multiple items. One last thing, Armour to make it easier to survive against the shark, and with that accessories with various bonuses (e.g increased stats like food water and health).

By The Way I Like The 1.5 Updates!

Hi,

After many hours of gameplay, Here is my suggestions :

  1. Add more difficulty, Add a real challenge
  2. Shark trap, if we don' t move in the water, shark don't attack us.
  3. More realistic wood, how i can made a pillar with some sticks ? Pillar must be a real tree trunk
  4. If we cross with a big trunk, it will destroy our fondation
  5. Add some catastrophes (big waves, wind...) and after that, lot of remains on the sea
  6. A bed, for fatigue, the need of sleep ...
  7. Making a flag (for rescue)
  8. Add seagulls !! more aquatic animal : jellyfish, whale (rare) !! octopus, dolphins !!
  9. More tools : knife, fishing net, field-glass ...
  10. Add the possibility to go under water
  11. Add some clothes : protection of the sun, the cold ..
  12. Add Rain, and the possibility to collect it
  13. add a sailing, for moving the raft if we see a Distress rocket, or a mirror reflection...
  14. random plane ...
  15. Add paper trash, ink octopus, fish bone, and when at the end of the day we go to sleep, write/draw a page journal, with all the even of the day. When we died, we can read the journal.

Surviving :

  1. Add the possibility to make a bucket, with that we can drag the underwater sea for bring some worms, for fishing (to easy)
  2. Add a way to craft some dirt, it's to easy for growing crops.
  3. It's too easy to grow crops, too fast. Add the need to water them. Add a Humidity indicator
  4. Improve the way of making pure water, real Watermakers
  5. Find a way to made some fire and the need to had firewood for feeding the fire

Construction :

  1. More realistic physique for the construction, it's a raft, not a building ...
  2. the possibility to add a ceiling (same as the floor) don't need to add a pillar for that (and for water collect)
  3. add a door, when the weather is bad, for shelter.

Flotting remains :

  1. Add plenty of different remains, with some rare items
  2. can, tin, drum, water bottle, canteen, churn
  3. water bottle with letters in them, possibility to make one
  4. stick, old trunks,
  5. rare random drift wrecks with plenty of stuff inside
  6. raft, like us, with a body ...

Nets are way too overpowered once you get enough of them, destroys the resource balance, maybe making them harder to make/making them upgradable would help? Like the first level nets would only catch 20% of items and then upgrading them with things like scrap would increase that

You know I can see this game growing into what millions of people will want to play. So to help out, I got a few suggestions of my own to help you all out, and expand your game content.

1. Make it so that we can dive into the water so we can see things like coral revives, spear fishing would be cool as well.

2. Add a sail and steering wheel to the game, so that players will have an opportunity to ride the raft that they have built along the may miles in the ocean.

3. Add some land content to the game, not much but just enough to find things like animals, and bananas on the trees.

4. When land content is added, make it so that we can take those animals back to are raft, and breed them, for thigs like leather and food.

Hey Developer!!! Thanks for the awesome game. I downloaded for free but will be making a donation soon. Raft 1.05 is AMAZING! (my computer absolutely sucks so water quality is at 0 to keep running at 6 fps) I had an idea:

  • Make motorized rafts where you have to refill it with gas tanks (which would be found drifting past the raft, rarely)
  • Make the ocean underwater explorable, with limited oxygen
  • Could you make more objectives (like SUBNAUTICA) where you have to find a blueprint for an item before you can build it? (the pieces of the blueprint would drift by until you collected all of the pieces (and more pieces would be required for the more complicated items))
  • can you make a bed to sleep through the new night cycle?
  • One more thing- just keep up the AMAZING work!

My suggestion is to add some mechanics, or objects, that make the upper parts useful. Now you only make a higher floor, because it looks nice.

Ideas :

1 - Add full character because the shadows show me just the hands

2 - Add very low graphics for some people who have bad pc

3 - If you want add weather like rain

-a storyboard might be nice (but its not timed or anything its kinda like a side quest maybe not like a must do to continue thing like if you want you can do this and learn about what happened that cause you to live on a raft and all that)

-some islands can be habited by either hostile or neutral or friendly or depending on your behavior natives and some islands ccould be inhabited and some could just host one person like the player stranded in an island

Hello I'm actually doing a Youtube Series on your game and I absolutely love it! I love the newest updates. I think the weather cycles like Notreamitielove suggests would be great. Maybe if possible add birds flying around.

A friend of mine thinks it would be cool to be able to dive underwater. I think being able to make shark armor would be cool so that you can swim out to get things with less risk of dying from the shark attack. Maybe after a certain period in the game add more sharks that attack at once than just the 1.

I think that some thinks that could be added for future updates could be that the shark can't attack at night since it is hard to see, a ship should be able to be built to go fishing or go to an island maybe. Also, maybe you could sit in the chairs to reduce fatigue. it would be cool if you could add a defense to your raft for a large cost, like spikes or nails.

I think some new fish would be good like the mackerel is good but something like a salmon or tuna is good too.

I've enjoyed playing Raft quite a bit. It's very addicting. Still, it does set my imagination churning, so here are a list of things a friend of mine and I came up with that we'd love to see in game. The list is pretty much kept to things that could be implemented without messing with the core mechanics of the game (That is, the raft floating along on the ocean).


  • Flow of debris should lessen over time as you 'move away' from the supposed wreckage. Not too quickly, as the player should still have a chance to get seeds and food drops, but eventually, it shouldn't be all that much flowing past the raft.
  • A possible increase in number of sharks over time (attracted by the blood of their cousins or the blood of the player), with a maximum number of three or four. (Or a setting allowing the player to set the maximum).
  • Building a composter and using seaweed/ thatch/ food to turn into compost, and make compost a necessary component for cropplots and tree cropplots. (Would make it harder to get cropplots and tree cropplots, encouraging players to find alternate means of feeding themselves - like fishing and shark hunting :P - until the compost is finished).
  • Item nets should break off or take damage if too many things accumulate. Maybe a system so that if an item has been in the net for a given period of time, the current will eventually tear the item loose again, damaging the item net some amount. Or have it based on amount of items caught in the item net, perhaps.
  • Weather would be a nice thing. Rough waters that might snap off bits of the raft, if it's too rigid (that is, if the floor area is too large). Scorching sun that might cause sunburns unless you've built shelter. Freezing nights that could send you into hyperthermia, unless you've made something to heat yourself by or maybe created some kind of clothes from debrised canvas or other materials.
  • The possibility of tying smaller rafts together with rope, to lessen the risk of things snapping off in rough weather.
  • The possibility that you might get washed overboard in rough weather unless you're either inside a four-walled shelter, or you've anchored yourself with a rope to something on the raft.
  • A randomised amount of crop when harvesting. 1-4 for potatoes, 0-1 palm seeds from coconuts, and beets have to stay in the cropplot til they seed in order for the player to harvest those seeds, at which point the beet is useless as food, but the player gets 2-4 beet seeds.


Suggestions for additional types of items and debris: Bits of canvas, seaweed, crates of oranges (anybody up for debilitating agony and rotting gums with the complementary loose teeth? No? Have some vitamin C ^^), orange pips (3-6 per orange, but hard to get to mature into an orange tree, maybe add watering as a necessity).


Suggestions for player settings: The option to set the passing of time. Currently the time it takes for the player to get hungry and thirsty is terribly fast. As are the growth times of crops (which is rather necessary with the rate at which the player goes hungry, I guess). Making a setting where the player can choose the length of game day and then making hunger, thirst, and crop growth-rate scale to the setting would be great.

Currently, if you want to make a even room with a floor on top in raft, you frequently come across the problem of having to put 2 pillars together to make a full floor. This is purely for aesthetics, but I would like to see a way to put a pillar in the middle of 2 foundations/floors. This pillar would do the job of 2 pillars next to each other.

The developers of the game could already start looking for a way to translate the game into several languages (I am from Brazil, my language is Portuguese). They could be available in Spanish, Japanese, Russian, German and others.

Um I think the programmer is Turkish right Semih Parlayan and I am Turkish too so I guess this is a project made by friends from different countries yay

I love this game, but personally I think that the biggest problem with this game is that its a little like all the other survive-and-craft games out there. One way to make this different, I think, is to take it down the "tower defense" route. Imagine upgrading your raft and weapons, with the sharks getting more frequent and more dangerous. I like the idea of traps ( falling rocks, nets ect. ) maybe? Maybe intense combat with sharks, in the late game.

I agree with everyone, exploring more and mabye finding islands and suken ships would be VERY neat!

Some ideas from me and/or some others: More buildings (bed, crate [a cheap chest with less storage], strong pillar [a much more expensive version of the pillar that can hold more floors], ladder, door, fences), a new rare item (crashed plane part/crashed boat part: a very rare item used for crafting), diving with new underwater items (corals, stones, fishes, crabs, squids for ink (a crafting material) dangerous animals like a ray or a shark and some other things), a new plant for medicine, achery and maybe a backpack.

I think some/many players will be extremly happy if you add some of this suggestions.

How about crabs? I feel like they would be a perfect way of dealing the with whole Net solves all your problems thing, Crabs could Possibly come onto your raft and steal food from chest and cut your nets off your raft Plus you could pick them up and and either toss them in the ocean or cook them. And maybe Orange Jelly fish? They could be a last resort for food and hurt you in return for a dead Jelly that you can cook, You'd have to use a spear to catch them though. And for some Items/pets how about a small pen That you could put some turtles in. Maybe? (I hope this sparks some intrest! Espicaly the crabs!)

Try having wood utensils and plates so you can put food on the table, and can sit to eat. Try having wood walls and metal walls. Also your weapons and tools have durability and have to repair it once and a while. Also, how about doors and latches. maybe even more sea life like seaweed you can use to bind like a bed or something.

I would like it if we could save other people who are stranded that way we need to have trees and plants and have them help harvest and everything. I love the idea of saving other survivors. Whether it be NPCs or other players (Other players will be a long way in coming, though, as they don't currently plan on a multiplayer version, I think).

I'd like to see the way the inventory is handled to change from first-in-first-out to first-in-last-out. The way the inventory is handled now means I have to manually manage it all the time, as I keep getting parts of stacks of the same resource, when I craft and gather.

I think rift support at some point down the line might be pretty cool.

Just wanted to say that I was watching Oblivion HD's videos on this game and that this is a pretty good game but from what I can see at his update it's pretty bare.

A few ideas:

  • Make a boat
  • Sail to other Islands
  • Mine ores and explore caves
  • More base building options
  • Pirates that come to your base to raid or attack when you're exploring
  • Maps to see where you've explored.
  • Using the Water Purifier and Cooker require planks as a fuel source
  • Someone's already said this but I agree with it, we should add new sea creatures to the game, birds or turtles? and you can put them in a cage/tank as a pet.
  • I'd also recommend removing the Item nets as it just makes it so easy to get resources later on in the game so after a while, you don't even need to use your hook.

As I said before, this is a good game but yeah, updates are needed! :)

5 beets + 5 water used in a pressure cooker = 1 Sugar

10 Potato + 10 Sugar used in a Still = 1 Alcohol

10 Coconut + 5 Alcohol used in Still = 1 Coconut Rum

Killing the Shark will gain you a Hide

6 Wood + 12 nails = Tanning Tub

use Hide in tanning tub = 1 leather

5 leather + 2 Rope = 1 Backpack (expanded Inventory)

2 leather + 8 nails = 1 Pair of Non Slip Boots (prevents you from slipping off ship when walking on wet deck)

8 Leather = 1 Rain Coat (prevents cold from rain)

After killing your first shark, weather effects then begin to enter the game such as storms etc.

Lowest level storm is simple rain the effect simply being you will become wet and cold requiring you to warm up, and your rain catchers filling up with water

the 2nd level is Thunder Storm which will occasionally shoot lightning bolts at your ship causing damage to the highest levels of it.

the 3rd level is Tropical Storm which will hurl high winds at you causing damage to your ship as well as push you off into the water.

the 4th level is hurricane you will need to have prepared ahead of time for this one as you will be running around your ship replacing parts of your ship as this causes high levels of damage.

You can upgrade your walls and floors to metal by applying 4 scrap and 16 nails

1 Barrel + 20 scrap = Airtight Barrel

10 scrap = 1 pipe

1 Airtight Barrel + 4 pipe = 1 Wood Gasifier

20 wood used in a Wood Gasifier = 1 Syngas

50 Scrap = 1 Furnace

1 Syngas + 10 Scrap used in a furnace = 1 Metal Ingot

2 Metal Ingots + 1 Syngas used in furnace = 1 Gear

1 Metal Ingot + 1 Syngas used in furnace = 10 Nails

2 Gears + 2 Rope + 2 Pipes = Pulley

1 spear + 4 scrap = 1 Harpoon

Islands would break the whole point of this game. If you want an island game with rafts, go play Stranded Deep. This is purely ocean survival so it should just be left as it is.

Some suggestions:

  • Crafting: More crafting items, definitely.
  • Food/Drink: Naturally, make food/water drop slower. Right now its crazy fast. IF it's possible, drop the water slower when under a roof(floor). Dehydration should be a risk, but create a system where there is a player-under-floor check. Or just create the floors with a cube volume, and slow dehydration down when inside that volume.
  • Construction: The stairs are crazy big. Maybe add in a rope ladder? Will save on space and also prevent those nasty bugs :) More things to do with metal, yeah, especially upgrading the wooden structures to stop that f***ing shark from eating my house!
  • Gameplay: The day/night cycle is really fast. You could slow that down to 20 minutes of day (dawn=3 minutes; dusk=3 minutes; daytime=14 minutes) and 10 minutes of night. The shark seems to attack in 4-5 minute intervals, or there about. Maybe randomise that? I agree with the shift-click mechanic. Would help store items faster!
  • Weapons: As far as weapons go, the spear does the trick well enough. Maybe being able to throw it at that f***ing shark would be an added bonus.
  • Resource Gathering: Fishing nets are another good idea. Also, while on the fishing topic, maybe dont let me catch fish through the floor boards? I can literally fish anywhere on my raft without needing to cast into open water.

BUT, this game shows incredible promise, and it is certainly a game I will keep playing for a long time to come.

I hope you guys plan to sell this game at some point, the potential is there, just dont stray too close to other *similar* games.

Item Nets are too op. I think it would be better if they can hold a little amount of items. (I think 3 items is good) And if the net is full, the item can just ignore the net and continue to move forward.

i have an idea to add more mobs other than the shark.for example there could be seagulls who would steal your food.there could also be crabs which would slowly damage the raft and could also be cooked.

another idea is to add rain and other weather,from which some harsh ones will damage the raft and could make the player sick or something like that.

A cut scene could be shown when a new game is started showing faint memories of being on a ship and seeing it get wreaked and then waking up on the raft with stuff to craft a hook rather than a hook already.

The ability to get some materials back when a building material is broken...(hope that made sense)

I have been playing this game for a couple hours and thought of these suggestions:

1). Using shift + click to quickly move objects from inventory to chests and hot bar to inventory. After playing a long time the click and dragging is very time consuming and a tad annoying

2). More buildable objects! I love the game as is, but more buildable objects would be fantastic such as a bed that could be used to turn the night cycle to day, something to do with energy (craft wind mills), more intricate cooking - recipes and more food options would be fun because right now it is super easy to keep up the food and water meter, so being able to keep it up creativley would be awesome!

3). Underwater scavaing would be fun instead of waiting for it to happen by/ cutting down trees

On a side night, I personally would rather have updates to the game than have the developers focus on creating multiplayer.

Iron spikes to prevent the shark from breaking the raft

I like this idea. There needs to be something to deter the shark, at least for a little while.

maybe it is nice to add dolphins and other aimals. maybe some more build possibilities and more stuff maybe a bow to kill animals and maybe that you can dive and more stuff that would be cool i hope these ideas will come in the game

First off. Amazing project! keep up the good work. As many people have said this is very promising with great potential.

I have read through page after page of suggestions and gathered my thoughts on what i'd like the final game to have and will list them below. (This is going to be long with many ideas inspired by people on this forum)

DIFFICULTY SETTINGS:

  • Easy - w/ shark - Shark barely attacks and swims slower. Will only progress to attack when player has sufficient equipment
  • Easy wo/ shark - No shark player is free to swim around without threats of attack or pests
  • Normal - Kind of what the mode is like now. Shark will attack frequently and swim quicker than easy
  • Hard - Multiple sharks which attack frequently

EQUIPMENT:

  • Beds (made from thatch/rope/wood)
  • Fishing nets (Made from and wood)
  • Lobster cage (made from wood and lots of rope)
  • Primitive gardening tools. Shovel/rake/hoe. (Made from metal scraps and wood and rope)
  • Mask and snorkel for being able to scan the bottom of the ocean ( made from shark skin/wood/string fibers)
  • Diving equipment for something to work for in terms of late game (Made from Shark skin/Rope/Metal/String Fibres)
  • Clothing to keep player warm/not sunburnt
  • Rare items - Down in the sea for exploration purposes. Divers Knife/ Arrow tips/ Harpoon hook/ Harpoon gun.
  • Harpoon - This can be either primitive and crafted or found in the depths.
  • Knife spear - After finding the divers knife it can be attached and detached to a pole forming a more powerful spear.
  • Backpacks (Small made from string fibres, or bigger from Shark skin)
  • String Fibres (Made from coconut fibers woven)
  • More crops/fruits/plants/seeds/trees
  • Primitive weapons player can build. (Bows/spears/harpoons/knifes/axe)

WEATHER AND NATURAL EVENTS:

  • Weather cycles including heavy rain/ hail/high winds/cloudy/sunny/cold
  • When Weather is cold player needs to either wrap up or hunger goes down faster due to energy expenditure.
  • When player is really hot they have to be careful of dehydration

STRUCTURES:

  • Spike traps to outline the raft with to stop the shark from munching the side of the raft. These would have degradation to not be too O.P
  • Rope Ladders for high places.
  • Rope Bridges for cool tree house style rooms.
  • Rain catcher. (Like the turtle shell on The Forest)
  • Doors
  • Pully/Lift system.
  • Ovans for better cooking.
  • Fish farms so the player can breed and capture their own fish.
  • Different Tree types for more fruit
  • Some sort of way to set up farm automation (Late game)

MECHANICS

  • Fires require fuel
  • Sharks breed over time and player can let it get out of hand.
  • More ways of Gathering food. Player can dive and collect shellfish. Catching fish/crab/lobster via nets/traps/spear fishing/harpoon with more fruits and veg leading to more cooking choices on the Ovan.
  • Rare chance of corpse floating by (Potential for rare items to be on them)
  • Rare chances of survivor (Player has to help them from the shark in turn they will fish/gather for the player)
  • LATE GAME: i can't stress this enough. This game is so fun but lacks something to work for. (dont bite my head off i know the games circumstances but this is a list of things i want to see.)
  • Structures affect player during specific weather conditions( During hail the player will get slowly damaged unless indoor)
  • Multiplayer!!!11! This would be the best thing ever when the game is further along development.

I am a developer myself so i understand how hard/time consuming even the smallest thing is to implement. Never mind for a tiny team like yourselves. Please don't let this list cause any stress or frustration. It's merely my brain getting excited for the future of this title.
I hope to see you all pass your courses and move on to doing this full time. I truly believe this title is a strong contender for G.O.T.Y 2018.

How do you tame a shark even? do you even logic bruh? You seem to want this game to be subnautica in a certain way, but really? Taming sharks?

A shark is nice to humans only when its not hungry thank you very much, Were have you seen a shark being tamed? I would like some proof, Not sure if even possible.

In aquariums.

An aquarium is something different, They arent even fully nice, Meanwhile, In the game, You are some dude on a Raft surrounded by an aggresive shark that really wants to eat you, Its nature, Sharks are only aggresive to human depending on what type of shark it is, Or if its just hungry.

Weather, I think a few storms would make it more interesting, some cargo netting to tie everything down? Also when breaking items down, you would get back a percentage of the materials. Maybe an occasional bird or two flying by, or landing on the raft to kill for meat? Islands or Ships in the distance that you never seem to reach that would fade over the horizon. A radio, make a battery out of salt water copper and zinc, that would be a rare item in a barrel. Once built you could hear music depending on where you are in the ocean, Hawaiian, Asian Pacific, Australia or New Zealand. You have Palms and palm fronds so that would make it in the Pacific Ocean.

  • naming/renaming storage boxes (name could appear on sides, perhaps top of boxes. this would help a lot to differentiate what you store where, in case you have multiple storage boxes)
  • sorting content
  • auto-stacking option

You should add some rare items,like a better hook(faster) and a better weapon(like a pistol) and craft your ammo with scrpar metal

You can make a rank like:Normal/Rare/Very Rare/Legendary/Mythical.You can create a intro like how you are the last surviver and how did ,,Titanic'' get down.

From playing the game for a while, I have a list of things I think would be nice to have in the game:

  • Protection from the shark attacking the raft.
  • A form of water transportation, such as a boat.
  • Being able to make multiple "rafts" around the map to travel between.
  • Water exploration; having submarines and diving suits to explore and salvage the ocean ground, and find new ways to survive.
  • Having a form or ranged combat, such as a bow, to fight the shark from a range and make it feel more of a rivalry than an every now and then attack.
  • 2 player co-op (yes, I know, everyone wants that).
  • Duck/crouch. It makes it so hard to get the coconuts when you have your trees close together.
  • A water treatment plant. This links back to "water exploration" and finding a way to make it.
  • Elevators. 3 long stairs makes it hard to build tall buildings while still loving nice.
  • Longer pillars, so you don't have to build them on top of eachother. I was thinking of a stacking feature so you can build them directly on top of each other and extend it.
  • Roofs and doors.
  • Guard rails to use around water holes and sides of the raft.
  • Islands with soil spots for planting seeds and growing trees, and loot, like under water, that gives you new things to build and improve your raft.

The 2 big things are water exploration and islands. I think that is what the game is sort of lacking. That survival and exploration feature, going into places that could kill you, but you get that loot you know you need to get. Water exploration would be a huge project to work on, as you would have to create hills and sea weed on the ocean floor and make it look somewhat realistic, and islands would require ways to travel to it and all of the greenery with trees and plants growing everywhere.

I think what should be started on is small raft parts floating around the place with some loot on them, and small rafts with paddles to get to them. I dont know how complex this would be to add to the game, but I think it is what the game is sort of lacking at the moment.

I suggest to add multiplayer. At least a way to play with your friends hosting a server in lan.

In my opinion survival games are boring without other player.

And just another thing: I know that you placed a "read me" with "controls key" in the folder but if you add a mini-tutorial (at least a starting box in the upper part of the screen showing controls) would be great (when i started to play i didn't see the txt and for 10 minutes i pressed random keys, surely this is happend to others "distracted" players XD).

However the game is great, simple but enjoyable and this is his role and aim of life (Don't add dispersive thing but only essential stuffs *always in my opinion*.)

Last one: Try to propose this game in "steam greenlight" (this game is better than many games accepted on steam so you can have a bit profit)

I really want multiplayer too. could play with friend on LAN. I really doesnt have to have Servers, but please just add LAN

You should be able to find different kinds of baits on barrels to get others kinds of fishes and make other tools from combining the tools you already have like a harpoon from a spear and a hook

I feel it would be really cool to add more mobs and an underwater/sea floor. I also think it would be awesome if you could build a boat/ship, and sail a distance to an island. And on the island you can find more resources and craft SCUBA gear, to explore the ocean bottom. Another cool aspect would be if you added a bow an arrow. P.S. It would be a great idea to try to start a Steam Green light Page too.

Make it quick;

1.) One new raw material that comes from the sea; silk. It could be used for better walls and another furniture set later. Also Hp wouldn't regen this fast and silk would heal.

U should add a backbag that u make with those leafs, fix multiplayer and u should add that thing it would save everything automatically and chest are empty if u get back into the server... fix that too :) thank u

You "clip"/ go through the ramps which is a bit weird, they should be solid items. Also you should put a shadow texture for the player character (As of now you only have shadows for items.

Of course there needs to be more thing to do in it but that's a no brainier.

Stuff like:

-Ability to make boats

-Maybe add islands you can go to

-Add different types of fish you can catch

-Maybe have random generator for what type of shark will attack you (IE: Sand Tiger Shark, Hammerhead Shark, Thresher Shark and ETC)

-More plants (Wheat, Corn, and ETC)

-Bigger farm beds

-Crates (Bigger storage)

-Bow and arrow

-possibly of flooding on the raft where the shark can get onto the raft

-Rain/ weather system

as of now that's all I can think about.

Do you guys think any of these would be cool?

I actually really love some of the ideas you have, especially the flooding and weather one!

Though I just want to say that adding islands to the game defeats the game's purpose. Which is to survive on a raft and what's given to you from the sea.

Suggestions for future and much later updates:

1) Underwater exploration. You can collect different materials instead of the ones floating around, and the shark/other creatures can be a threat

2) Instead of islands (because the whole concept is to survive on a raft), why not have broken down boats/other rafts deserted in the sea?

3) Maybe some other decorations like a sail, flag, or a small plant

4) Possibly other threats to damage your raft in different ways? Like a storm or other animals out in the water. They can take more parts of your raft or only one object (Like walls)

As a side note I want to say thanks for making this game! The concept of surviving on a raft is pretty neat and I like the gameplay so far. I hope you guys don't rush or over work on the game, we can always wait :D

I would like there to be more sharks once you kill the one circling you enough. If they could jump halfway up on the raft to catch you for a chunk of health. I would like more furniture as well. Decorating things up a bit would be entertaining. I know this isn't an aspect for most gamers, but I think it would be cool to be able to collect "companions" every once in a while that rarely float by (like Castaway's Wilson). You guys are doing an awesome job on the game! Keep the updates coming!

Some suggestions to make this great game even better:

1. Durability for tools. It would need some tweaking to make sure they don't die off too fast, but overall it would help the longevity of the game by adding another layer of resource management.

2. Weather! Rain can be a pain to program, but it would really add to the immersion to have cloudy days/nights and potential rainstorms. There could be wind or lightning effects that damage the raft, and as a plus, a surge of floating loot after storms pass to reward survival.

3. A shark lure. I've seen posts asking for better foundations as a way to deal with the shark attacks, and I thought this could be a cool alternative. It could use fish (mackerel or another kind of fish if any are added) and rope to craft, and ward off several shark attacks. It could even be repaired with more rope and fish over time, giving thatch a good use and making the fishing rod more viable. A drawback to the lure would be the inability to attack the shark, since it would just grab a fish and go, so if you want shark meat, you have to hunt it yourself.

4. Kindling for the Purifier and Cook station, made of either thatch, planks, or both, with a ratio that you get multiple bits of kindling from one crafting pieces (since it's pretty much shredded leaves or twigs). They can be loaded into the stations preemptively (say like ten uses' worth), and provide another use for thatch in the late game. It's also easy enough to make that it shouldn't hinder the early game

5. Building parts! Things like ladders (rope or wood) for a one tile way up a level and railings for a non wall alternative. Perhaps support beams that could extend out from pillars to allow more horizontal building without pillars everywhere. Thatch roofing would be cool, too, with both tile and edge pieces available.

6. More tree types than palm. Perhaps a fruit tree to keep in the style of trees being able to feed the player. Mangoes? They're very widespread, and they have pits, so reskinning palm seeds could work out there.

Okay, that's plenty of suggestions from me. I love what you guys have done so far, and I look forward to what you come up with next!

I love the game so far there is so much potential for this game here is some of my suggestions.
different types of trees to grow like a banana tree or a mango tree, different types of walls. maybe a base reinforced with scrap metal to make it harder for the shark to bite through, a throw able spear, more sharks, maybe make it possible to create a fish farm? different types of fish. maybe an orange tree. canned food from barrels. make it possible to move items. these are just some suggestions i know you have only begun this game. its absolutely amazing so far i cant wait to see what comes out. good luck!

Adding in a defense system against the sharks would also be nice, like adding in barbed wire or barbed nets with nails and rope would be a nice touch. Also possible a little boat that you could go from raft to raft in. This game for sure has potential.

Foundation with spiked sides? It'd help prevent your raft getting damaged by sharks.

Im going to give some suggestions for the developers: boats, islands, looking for things under water, multiplayer, a bow or crossbow of some sort so that you can shoot the shark, also make it to where if you kill the shark you get something ike 5 or more minutes without the shark, also balance out the recources because i allways get a lot of thatch and A LOT of scrap and not enough wood, more customizations for b uilding would be really cool. thx :)

I feel as if adding islands would defeat the game's main focus of being on a raft that's gone adrift. However your idea of a ranged option is nice, though I feel as if a spear with rope on the end would be more fitting and would be more useful once the shark is dead allowing you to reel it in to collect the meat like the hook does.

How about a sword or a knife for new weapons. New types of fish such as salmon or trout with them being harder to obtain and giving more food.

Please add a way to go back to the v 1.04 visuals. I really liked the way it made the game feel.

Effect of Temperature: hypothermia at night, with the need to build fires and overheating by the sun, with the need to build shelters. Variety of weather: rain, calm, strong wind. Strengthening of sharks or destructible with a large margin of safety, or is not destroyed, but with the need to invest large amounts of resources in the block.

here is some ideas;

small boats for adventuring

bow n arrow

different types of foundation wood / metal etc... with their respected armor value

different types of shark / like if one shark dies the next would be different with different attacks like tiger-shark great-wite-shark and maybe Whales that jump out of the water or maybe a small chance of a megaladon to appear

/ this one maybe later but take it into consideration character customization and different game view-thingys like 1st-person 3d-person etc... And CROUCHING lol <3 tata and farewell

More optimization to low end pcs would be nice.

I don't know if its just me, but at a certain point, I totally stopped getting resources floating by? Every now and then i'll see something way out in the distance that my hook can not extend to grab, but thats once every few day cycles. It gets very frustrating, because although you can grow palms to get things like thatch and planks, there is nothing I have found that gives you scrap except for barrels and actual scrap. Maybe have fewer resources come in after the person is established, but they should continue to come. Kind of frustrating that I can't build stairs or any other equipment because I have no way of getting any scrap.

I think the time to starve/dehydrate is way too fast.

I stopped playing after I'd basically made one of everything, because it just got old having to eat and drink constantly.

I really enjoy this game, it is very cool to just sit a relax to. and while playing I have found a few things that would liven up the experience, so below you will find some ideas that would be cool.

1. Weather: I like the fact that its always sunny and a happy day but we are on the ocean there needs to be rain and storms something of that nature.

2. A cooking pot: this is could be used to make soups and other things with the drinkable water that is made.

3. Beds: Man being awake from sun up to sun down and back can take a toll on someone. People need some sleep. haha

4. sturdier foundations: this can be used in combination with scrap which will make it harder for the shark to destroy.

5. longer times between shark coming back: I get so happy when the shark is dead and I get it's meat, but then a few seconds later its back.

More stuff will come up as I build my raft and see what more i will like in it.

I think that you guys should at least one new weapon at least. Its the harpoon gun and you could use it to shoot the shark from farther away. it might be like 5 scraps and maybe you would need to add like a spring or something, but the you would also need to craft some rope and a spear (and maybe a crank of some sort to reel the rope in but its fine if you don't :P ) please add some sort of weapon for killing the shark than just the spear! thank you!!!!

I think Wilson should be added. He just floats by, maybe his name wont be Wilson, but I think it would be really funny

Another thought of mine is clothes. You'd start off with destroyed or ripped, but you could get shark skin or somethin (maybe cloth/ cotton/ wool ) but you would have to craft / sew new clothes which would make it harder to die. This is just a thought for the far future when things are much more stable for the game. please do not try stressing yourselves with any of my ideas. thank you and cya!

I think that you should add in fishing nets to make things more sustainable. it would also be interesting to have boats or an ultimate objective. perhaps having a set of quests from a castaway. anything like that would add to the fun.

I think this game should get a durability bar for items (Even though I hate durability bars) it may help the gameplay. Also, I understand this is a very early access game but as soon as possible polish up the Multiplayer Mod and make it part of the base game.

2. add a "shark alarm" which you can make out of metal and stuff that will point towards where the shark is and will beep when its attacking

3. make a strong foundation that takes longer to destroy (finally a use for all that scrap)

4. make chairs "sittable"

5. make tables more useful (like give them a storage space)

6. make a way to make an engine that would take you around (the gas cans for it would sometimes float by for collection)

7. make swim gear so you can swim longer if you have it

And beds and more decorative items! it would be cool if you can add small islands, which includes new base building. and with islands, you can maybe grow vegetables, so my idea: add a hoe so you can grow plants on your island! and like some other comments, i would really like to play with friends. Can you, please, work on multiplayer? You can work with the raft multiplayer creator to make it easier. In my opinion, it would be more fun and easier to survive and build. Also, can you please add a body to the character's model, because now we are just a pair of floating hands, which is funny.
