A few ideas I've had:

  • Creative Mode: No food and water requirements, No resource requirements to build, weakened or no shark
  • Bed, possible sleep requirements
  • Spikes/Stationary spears defense: attaches to foundations, damages shark during it's attacks and makes it retreat quickly
  • Harpoon attached to rope- Functions similar to hook. but used for distance shark hunting
  • Thatch Roof- can be attached to top of walls like floors do pillars, but is weak and collapses if walked on.
  • Slower fatigue meter in water unless moving (sitting stationary in water is easy, swimming takes effort.

BTW, love the latest update with the lanterns and day/night cycle.
