Rated, had so much fun ! Well made
Thanks for checking it out :)
Wow, one of the best lookign game of the jame ! I really liked the mechanics and the rage aspect of it was super fun.
I did had to redo half the game because there was no pause menu (got it by a toy while I was away and hitting escape brought me back to the main menu woops)
But other than that, really fun platformer, good work you three :)
Thanks for playing, happy you liked the rage aspects of it :D
Sorry that you lost progress by quitting out of the game. The intention was to put in a pause option with a go back to the main menu confirmation but we ran out of time so that just exits to the main menu.
Oh from the start I already can feel the humour in it. The narration is pretty professional. The hand made char is neat. I am getting a "Feudal Alloy" vibe with this, both with the music and the art, which is great cuz I love that game. I like you have a cool transparent tutorial. This is sweet and I like that sometimes you have to plan your path upwards. It also gets challenging pretty fast. This is like a bit of mario, a bit of feudal alloy with a toy story type of world.
I’d never heard of feudal alloy but just looked it up, I can see the similarities in the art style! Thanks for the kind words and thanks for playing!
I would say it is in the hand drawn animations and perhaps whole vibe of it reminds me of feudal alloy, from the cutscenes to the way story is told
Thanks so much! Huge fan of the feudal alloy art style and the whimsical nature of having fish control the suits of armor! Thanks for playing and all the awesome feedback!
Love the game... Really love the art
Thanks for checking it out :)
Ok, just gonna take the L on this one lol.
This game LOOKS GORGEOUS, SOUNDS AMAZING, AND PLAYS GREAT!
My only tiny grip is that pushing in to the wall in order to jump felt a little of unnatural for me.
Thanks a lot Wes! And no need to take any L’s, I freaking love Hades and it was a huge undertaking to try anything even resembling it. Yeah the wall jump seems to be a bit weird for some people. Thanks so much for playing!
Thanks a bunch for playing and the kind feedback Wes. Loved Surtr too and so did Itch :)
Wall jumping is something we could look at trying to improve for sure.
5 starts across the board!
Thank you so much for the awesome feedback, and highlighting us in your video!
Thanks so much for the video! It’s so nice to see it played and get feedback on the tough parts. As a matter of fact, I was listening to Star Festival from Mario Galaxy on repeat while trying to get inspiration for this song, so there’s definitely a (not so) subtle influence there! Gamepad is definitely the way to go. We intentionally left the ending a little ambiguous so that there was an opportunity for the true ending! Just collect all the beans to see it (or you could just watch my speedrun video on hard mode on the itch page lol) but unless you want the extra challenge, there’s no reason to play on hard.
Also just wanted to point out that you missed one of the upgrades if you wanted to go back, which probably made the ending much harder than it needed to be. Of course that’s totally my fault for making it skippable :D
Anyway, you rock. Thanks for the vid!
secrets and sequence breaking unloclables!? This game has the full package :)
Thank you for checking out our game and the kind words. The video playthrough was invaluable :)
So much freaking polish. This is really really good guys, it legit feels like a full game. You spent time on the little details that matter in everything, the story, the art, the sound, the controls. It's really well put together and thought out and was a joy to play. Very impressive, congrats to the whole team.
Thanks so much for your kind words! We really worked hard to make sure everything looked and felt good, so thanks again!
What a fantastic vertical slice of what I hope becomes a larger game. This was like mixing the best bits of Celeste with the best bits of Metroid! Even though there were a lot of new mechanics and abilities introduced, the game never felt overwhelming because I think you doled them out at just the right place. Being able to play with a controller certainly helped and was much appreciated.
That knockback dropping you through the current level could be brutal though! Especially if you fell from tac to tac and ended up a third of the way down from where you were!
I love that you don't keep the collectibles until you're safely grounded again. It makes them more challenging to go for and more rewarding to collect. The art was cohesive and really matched the overall tone. And the opening voice acting intro scenes were great!
Some feedback:
- The top hitbox seemed a little unforgiving sometimes. I think a little buffer space would help some of the jumps feel more fair.
- The tacs could be a tough read, especially when there were only a couple placed. If you highlighted in an additional way (maybe just small shine animation looping on the tip) it would make it easier to spot them in the moment-to-moment gameplay.
Overall, this was a great jam experience. Awesome work, team!
Wow, thanks so much for the detailed feedback! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! That’s a great suggestion for the tacks, they can certainly be tough to spot in a couple more hidden areas. And we’ll look at the collision box and see if it can be tweaked to avoid frustration. Thanks again!
I had the privilege to play test Jumpin' Jac Dash and it was really cool. Very hard IMO, but I suck at these types of games. Great feel to the controlls on the downloaded version. Awesome art, great voice acting addition, sound effects and music! Mighty Turtle Fish is a perfect company name for yooz 3 also.
Thanks so much for playing, and the awesome feedback you gave us that helped us fine tune the game before putting the final touches on it! The final product would not have played the same without your input!
GG!!!!!!!!
Thanks! :)
Great game, really tight mechanics, really nice art.
Hard as tacks! But I loved it :)
Thanks heap for playing, happy you had fun with it :)
Cool art, the metroidvania element was cool. It was frustrating at times to have to redo a long stretch of a level you already done because you would take damage 5-6 times in a row, I felt kind of cheated by the game, specially when it involved the hand throwing something in the middle of streak of jumps and there was no way to know that it would happen.
Cool art, cool story, cool voice acting, cool game.
Thanks for playing through it! Yep the hand can definitely lay down a few cheap shots since it’s entirely random as far as I know. Sorry about those!
A very well made platformer!! I had a lot of fun! but what kind of kid keeps so many tacks in his toy box?
Haha a very good question! Thanks so much for playing!
Not a fun of games where you can lose all your progress at any time, but I really enjoyed this! The art is very cute and the platforming is really tight. One thing I can think of that can be changed is the jump sound, it's pretty fun at first, but gets annoying fast :P
Really nice game overall!
Thanks heaps for playing and the feedback. We were experimenting a bit with the different jump sounds so we might keep looking at it post jam. Thanks again :)
The Game Is Fun. The Graphics/Art Look Amazing. I Dislike The "Getting Over It" Thing That You Have. ( The Spikes Took Me Down To The Bottom ) The Music And Sound Is Good. The Idea Is Amazing. You Can Just Do A Wall Jump + Dash On A Wall And Clime It, I Hade A Bit Of Frame Rate Issuse Where I Think The Games Shoul'd Have Ran Be Running Smoother. I Like The Story. Nice Everything. Hope You Keep Making Game And Keep Having FUN!
=D
Thanks for playing and the feedback. I can see how the "Getting over it" falling aspect wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea so all good. The frame rate issues can happen on the HTML build but it runs a bunch better on the Windows build which we recommend. Thanks heaps for the words of encouragement too :)
>=D
you found our secret speedrunning tech move! Yep you can just climb a wall by wall jump and dashing. We thought it would make things easier to climb up once you fell! Thanks for playing!
Very good game ! The visuals are so cute & the music fit very well !
Wasn't expecting it to be so hard, but it's a nice challenge ! didn't beat it yet but i'll come back to it later (I want to get out of that toy box ^^)
For feedback : Going through the platforms when you hit a pin can be very punishing, I lost a lot of time redoing easy parts because of small mistakes which can be very frustrating. (maybe switch to a checkpoint system ?) Also the music volume is very high when you start the game (but that's just a detail)
Overall, a really really good game, very solid implementation.
Great job !
Thanks for all the super nice comments. Totally understand how the collisions with pins could be punishing especially if a few hits were chained together. The idea we were going for was a "Getting Over It" climbing concept where you can't die but are set back if you take a hit. We could probably address this a bit more by positioning more safe areas in the game so you would never fall too far. Thanks again :)
This is a great game. It could easily pretend not being a jam game. Everything fitted nicely together. The only thing I did not quite feel in the game was the edge theme.
Thanks for the super kind words. The idea was the toy was trying to climb out of the toy box to stand on the edge to be noticed by its owner but can understand how it would be seen as a loose fit to it :)
really fun game loved the idea the art was also really good and the mechanics were on point good game
Thanks for checking out our game and the feedback :)
Beautiful game, the graphics are INCREDIBLE! The music fits perfectly and the voice acting is great!
The animations are super cute and everything feels really, really polished! Fantastic job! :)
Thanks for playing and the feedback. We are super happy with the graphics that our artist Foster Turtle made :)
Amazing game! Love the voice acting and soundtrcack, nice job! :)
Thanks heaps for playing :)
