I like how you used the death of the character for gameplay. Sounds and visuals are decent too. Unfortunately, I didn't see any goal in the game, as I understand, you ran out of time and hadn't managed to implement something.

Developer

Yep, that's exactly what happened. Thanks for playing, though! :)

The bug theme reminded me of Hollow Knight :) Sadly, the game doesn't fit too well with the theme.

Developer

Thanks, the art was, indeed, partially inspired by Hollow Knight! Yeah, sadly, I didn't get to implement the theme into this game.

This was interesting and I like the concept but I did find it slightly frustrating at times when my bug piles fell over but I liked it

Developer

Yeah, you're right. That irritates me, too. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone in this. :D

I really like the inspiration behind the concept of this game! And the art is obviously very nice. I bet it'll be really interesting if you keep working on it!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! :)

Very interesting and unique idea! Are you planning to keep working on it post-jam? (I would love to see the game expanded).

Just one thing: I didn't notice there's jump until I've seen it mentioned in the comments. I think it's the way it's written, I must've skimmed over "/ space" part, and just read it as "Controls: WASD. "E" to die". So I thought you can only move left and right and was trying to fill the whole pit with dead bugs. (Not having jump also made sense with "out of control" as well). Maybe you could rephrase the description of controls to something like "Move: WASD. Jump: Space. Die: E" so it explicitly mentions jumping?

Developer(+1)

Thanks. Wow, that was well-noted! Indeed, it was hard to spot that "Space" is among other controls.
Yes, I plan on continuing this game at some point. Thanks for your interest!

The art is really amazing, a shame that it isn't finished - but that's how it goes sometimes, 48 hours is rough!

Developer

Indeed! Thanks for playing and leaving a pleasant comment. :)

Love the art style, it looks great. I also find it kinda hillarious to have a button where the player can just die, it’s a very interesting mechanic.

I watched your devlog and I ran into the same problem as you did, just that I am mainly a programmer, so i overengineered a bunch of systems until I ran out of time for animation or even some challenging levels.

But hey that’s what game jams are for right? For learning more about game dev, about yourself and your limits.

Developer

You're right, the experience gained is much more important than the results. I hope you'll be able to use the systems you mentioned in the finished version or future projects!

Big fan of the art style and music, adding some more animations and game play and you might be on to something great! good job!

Developer

Thank you! :)

Submitted

I like your art style and music, but that's all about your submission. I hoped that the bug would have a nice run animation at least :)

Developer

Haha, with 10 minutes to do an animation, I couldn't really fit that in. :D Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Well, basically what you said in your devlog: really cool and nice looking game with no gameplay :)
It has potential though and I really wish there was more to it.

Developer

Thanks, I hope I'll be able to finish it! :)

Developer

Thank you! I checked your game out and it seems like I have a lot to learn from you. Your game truly feels like a finished product. :)

LOVE the art. Dissapointed it was over so quickly.

Developer

Thank you for sharing your opinion and spreading positivity! :)

The idea is fantastic, I was so frustrated when it was over so quickly... Great job nonetheless, and a great idea for a full game !

Developer

Thanks! Delighted to hear you were eager to see more of it. :)

I like the visuals, gave me some hollow knight vibes only with colors.

Game-play is as you mentioned in your comment to me a bit lacking, such as mine so who am I to complain :D, but seeing the game in it's current form is played just like a game I've seen on steam but never played, it becomes a bit unoriginal. but as  stated above a added aging mechanic could definitely give some more options in terms of gameplay and level design, but I think it would need even more to stand out of the crowd.

For some reason however I had some kind of frame rate issue ?, not sure if that was intended or not, but I think my gtx 1070 should be able to handle this :D

Anyway, it's a good job given the time spent working on it, music & art was really great and was fitting the theme.

Developer

Thanks for an in-depth opinion! Making something that will stand out is certainly something I should focus on.

You're the first person who experienced lags in the game and I feel concerned now. I hope it happened because it's a browser version of the game, but I should totally investigate that. Do you remember if there were any special conditions? Maybe you had a ton of other tabs opened or maybe there were many corpses lying around?

Submitted(+1)

Haha, I might have had substance painter, maya, zbrush, unity, marmoset and 30 -50 tabs open when trying it, tried it out now and it runs smooth ! =), Sorry for the scare !  :D

Developer

O-off, thanks for this relief! :)

If you are looking for more ideas for a post jam completion game, you could possibly have some enemies set up so they attack your dead bodies. In other words, you can set them up as decoys to get past them. Just a quick thought lol.

Developer

That is so clever, I haven't thought about it! I am not sure about the enemies, but I could definitely add more uses to corpses. Pressure plates, for example? Thank you for your suggestion! :)

This game is short but i had fun just resetting to get in inaccessible areas

Developer

Damn, now I am torn between two sides. I want to keep some exploits in the game, because too many people reported that they had fun reaching restricted areas. That's not what I really intended, though. :D

Awesome Idea :o

Love the graphics and art style! Good Job:)

Developer

Thank you, I am delighted to hear that!
