Nice game, I thought it is another shoot to move until I found out the grappling hook. the shooting is satisfying and the swinging feels great. Only thing I notice is the light orb not registering collision with the player.

Developer

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you liked the gameplay :)

The orbs are health pickups and will not trigger if your health is full, maybe that's what happened.

Interesting concept, loved the grapple hooks. Was a bit concerned with what the game was because it didn't load properly for me at the start and I was wondering what's happening. Had to restart.

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

Can you describe me what it looked like when it failed to load, so I can have a look? :)

Submitted(+1)

Yes, it was a blank screen with the words "Find the light" and over time I kept losing health and so the screen kept turning red and more red. The menu was fine though. Sound was also working. I think it was a fault with my system's graphics card driver, its quite old.

Developer(+1)

It sounds like the screen fade animation didn't start for some reason, so the game was running normally but the white canvas didn't disappear and was hiding everything. Thanks for telling me :)

Goddamn, I love me some graplehooks in my videogames.
Feels great to sling around like that man, nice job :)

Thanks for playing and for the compliments, I'm happy to hear you had fun :D

The game was quite fun and I liked the gameplay, especially how meaty the audio was. The shadows on the ground also acted as a nice way to tell me where the fire was and I rather liked it. Movement also felt solid.

The only problem I had was how nauseating the camera was, and by then end of it my head hurt a little. Perhaps adding a way to disable it would be better, or toning down the effect

As for the shooting, I didn't end up really using it, electing to mostly just skip past enemies altogether and just try to beeline for the camp fire.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for all the feedback!

I imagine motion sickness can get pretty bad with a game like this, I'll keep that in mind if I keep working on it after the jam, thanks for letting me know. I also agree that enemies don't feel dangerous enough to be worth shooting right now.

I'm glad you liked the audio, that was pretty fun to make :D

I love the physics of the game. Its like two games in one. You can use the grapple or shooting to move. Great!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for playing and for the feedback, I'm happy you liked the game! I felt the shooting and the grapple would complement each other as way of movement.

I'll be trying out your game soon!

Thanks!

Really fun entry, there was quite a bit of speed. It was very subtle on the outskirts but the shadows cast by the exit would help direct me in the right direction which was very awesome. I will say that I ended up not using the grapple very much, I found the shoot was a much more consistent way of moving. Great entry

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!

Looks like the shadows are definitely working to guide players, I'm happy about that. I've had people tell me they mostly use the grapple and almost never shoot, and others like you that mostly shoot and barely grapple, it's good to know both strategies are valid :)

Cool take on the 'Shoot-to-move'. I like how there are two different modes movement. You've got a potentially pretty fun mechanic in the works and it would be great to see you take your game to the next level.

  • I found the camera impulses too disorientating when you shoot. It can be toned down and still have the same effect you're going for.
  • The enemies felt a little useless. My focus was always to just rush straight for the light source.
  • Great work on using shadows as a way to guide the player through the level.
Developer

To be honest I wasn't sure at all about the mechanics during the jam, but now that I see the response I'm considering continuing the project afterwards. I agree with your criticism, especially about enemies which are  not doing much right now, and the camera could definitely use a little work. Again, happy to hear the light/shadows work well as a guide!

Thanks for playing and for the detailed feedback :D

I played this entirely the wrong way at first and launched myself around using the recoil of the gun.  Pretty solid concept; I'm super impressed by the use of 3D assets. Only gripe is the zoomed in camera makes it hard to navigate.

Also, that hit sound is hilarious.

10/10 would YEEEGH again

Oh shoot I completely forgot! Use of shadows and light to identify where the goal is located is a brilliant concept.

Developer

Thanks for playing, I'm glad you had fun :D

I'm happy to hear the light is working well to guide people, I wasn't too sure about it! And I totally agree for the camera, I'll try to work on that if I make an update.

(Recording the hit and death sounds was by far the most fun part of the jam :D)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I agree the camera could be improved, I tried messing around with rotations but your idea seems simpler and better. Glad you enjoyed it :)

I really like how solid the physics/mechanics feel. Nice and simple to get the hang of. Fun concept too. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :)

Really liked the movement. It's fun for that moments where you need to "waste" some time :)

Developer

Glad you liked it, I starting to thing this can make a good mobile game :D

Thanks for playing!

Clever use of light direction and intensity to show where the exit is. The slinging mechanic felt good to use but you didn't really need to use it to finish levels.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I'm happy to hear the lighting is working to guide players to the exit.

Funnily enough, some friends told me they mostly use the sling and almost never shoot, I guess both styles are valid :D

It's fun to zip around and try to go as fast as possible

Developer

Glad you had fun, thanks for playing!

The controls are super fun with a touchscreen. I enjoyed playing it.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Oh I didn't even know it worked with a touchscreen! Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

The movement is really smooth and fun. The sound effects could use some work...

Developer(+1)

Haha, yes I'm not much of a sound designer. Glad you had fun, thanks for playing!

Love it, always like fast paced game and this one is pretty good. Only thing I would add is a brake mechanic so that when you are about to crash into a wall you can quickly break + shoot in an opposite direction to prevent crashing. In this way players could actually react to the crash, without compromise the theme "out of control" too much.

Still, the game is pretty cool, good job!

(btw I found a bug when you crash into a wall super fast you could get stuck in it and get hit continuously then die, haha)

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it :D

Adding a brake mechanic could be a good idea yeah, even though you can already slow down both by shooting or slinging it can be hard to pull off. I'll have a look at that wall issue if I ever do an update!

very good game, i very like it

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Really fun game. I feel like i shouldn't have taken me back to lvl 0 when i die so it got a bit frustrating. I also "accidentally" turned on my auto clicker and went SPEEEEEEEEEED. I went to fast i clipped through the walls lol! I also love the EEEE sound effect when you get hurt lol

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it :D The levels are randomly generated with increasing difficulty, so the goal is to finish as many levels as you can before dying.

Submitted(+1)

Oh ok that makes sense, that just wasn't very clear because usually levels refers to premade levels

Submitted(+1)

The game was really cool, I didn't really know what was happening, but it was fun. Great job.

Developer

Thank you for the comment!

I don't have a ps4, but this really made me feel like spiderman... if he was doomed to an eternity in hell!

Thank you, I'm glad you had fun!
