I like the game, it was deffinitely fun. I enjoy the fact that you give us infinite bullets instead of running out of having to reload. I also enjoy the fact that you give us a healthy HP bar so we can continue playing for a decent amount of time instead of having to restart the game and feeling frustrated after a few hits. I don't really have any criticism but the only thing I will throw out there to play around with is maybe next time when the aim malfunctions, maybe giive us some control of our movement? So at least we can try to position ourselves to shoot correctly. I felt kind of helpless when my aim went down and I coulldn't move or aim and I was kind of a sitting duck just taking hits until my aim came back. But other than that, I had fun! Well done!

Developer

Thanks!

You might have read the other comment and figured it out, but if you have not, it seems like I messed up with the turret aim malfunction system, now I have found the solution to have more control over the aim during this part and will fix the messed up part in the post-jam version. I guess I can't give control over movement as this is the main mechanic of the game, but

Thanks for the tip!

I like the chaotic gameplay, also the art is pretty nice

Good game!

It could use a few more enemies though. It gets a little bit same-y after a while. I also think the health bar is a little too big. You start to feel a little invinsible after getting shot in the face 10 billion times and coming out of it wiht only a scratch.

Developer

Thanks!

I will definitely add more enemies in the post jam version and stronger enemies will compensate for having too much health in the post jam version.

Thanks for the tip!

I rather enjoy it's simplicity! It fits the theme perfectly, and doesn't atempt anything grand, and instead thrives in it's simplicity! Some better music, and maybe adding another enemy spawn would make it even better! All in all, very solid and competent game!

Developer

Thanks!

I will extend the game in the post-jam version.

Thanks for the tip!

The malfunctioning turret got my off guard so many times... Damn I was bad at aiming with a faulty turret :')

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

I now realise what went wrong with the turret malfunctioned aim (Rather than adding 45 deg. aim offset to final angle, I should have changed the offset of the destination of bullets, that way you could aim everything right just by aiming a little left or right to the target, rather than moving your turret around as you move further or nearer to the target) but I guess it made the game quite more challenging, or frustating?

I will fix it in post-jam version :)

Thanks for the tip!

A bit of polishing and less repetitive music and I fell like this would be a really fun game. For some varierty in gameplay, more enemies would be nice. maybe a new room now and then, like in some side scrolling shoot em ups. (not saying you should have done that in the jam, just some ideas i had if you wanted to add to the game)

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

I will definitely make a post-jam version of the game with more content :) ... I am not the music guy.. so I just played around with bosca ceoil a bit for making the music.. For the post-jam version, I will take help from my friend who makes amazing music and it will really spice up the game...

Thanks for the tip!

Seems like I am making progress in my pixel art :)

Very fun game! I really liked the music and the random upgrades added quite a lot of variety to the game. I feel like the aiming malfunction could be a bit unfair at times since it was practically impossible to shoot in the right direction. As well as this, I think it would be good if the player had less health but slightly more control over their movements since getting hit didn't really feel that impactful so often I didn't even bother trying to dodge attacks. That being said, overall the game was great and fitted the theme very well. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

I will make sure to do balancing in the post jam version. The movement of the player is totally out of control and it is the base mechanic of the game, but I will make sure to tweak the health a bit.

Thanks for the tip!

The music is really intense, and the enemies are fast. I like the intensive game play. Best of luck to you in the GMTK game jam!

The idea fits the jam well and I like the art of the game! I do wish that the idea had some more depth and strategy to it however since after I thought about it for a little bit, where your character randomly runs actually has no real impact on the gameplay of the game besides maybe enemies getting to you quicker or slower depending on when and where they spawned in relation to you.

It would've definitely have been cool if different running patterns affected the gameplay in some method that you needed to adapt to on the fly!

EDIT: Thinking about it some more I guess the random running can also cause your character to run straight into the enemies unintentionally which is a nice twist! I still stand by my point about wishing for there to have been more depth to the mechanic though.

Developer

Thanks!

I will definitely add more depth to the game in the post jam version :)

Thanks for the tip!

This game's an absolute blast! I love the constant beat and the music, and the frantic energy in whirling your gun around and fighting with it when it's aim gets messed up! It's a lot of fun, and I was completely engrossed until I died. You should be really proud of this! It's simple, but it's got a lot of polish and I'd love to see what you could do to expand it. Great job!

Good use of juice! Shooting baddies was pretty satisfying!

On a design note, I wasn't a fan of the laser towers. Since you can't control your movement and their attacks can't be interrupted by shooting, there's not really anything you can do to avoid being hit by their attacks which didn't feel great.

Congrats on finishing though!

Developer(+2)

Thanks!

I thought that if situations like the laser tower's laser or bumping into the baddies can't be avoided, the game would fit the theme more as the situation gets 'out of control' and you only can depend on luck.. But it looks like this idea made the enemies a little frustating though lol...

I will probably add much more enemy types and other things in the game's post jam version as well as solve this problem.

Thanks for the tip!
