This game is amazing. You're giving me some inspiration for minimalistic games with deep game mechanics.

That's pretty good! Quite a few people did shoot to move for last year's jam; but it's kinda unexpected for this year! It's kinda hard to understand when you can or can't launch yourself. I think this would make a good mobile game! (In a good way. Because of the controls.)
Well the thing is that if I want to make money from my game -at least to cover the time I will have spent- I will have to include ads (I prefer the free model over the paid one). However, I won't flood the game with them, since I want the game to be pretty chill, and ads don't really help with that. And yes, I will make improvements. The main things I have in mind right now are: more map features (for example a moving platform), more levels, and a level creator to make your own levels that you could share with others to play (clearly, you could play levels made by others too) :)
Nice and simple, love the minimalist aesthetic. Reminds me a little bit of golf in a way. In fact, it would be cool to implement a par system or something similar which challenges the player to shoot only an x amount of bullets to reach the goal. An auto restart whenever the box falls off the stage would be handy but overall, really solid entry!
Thank you! I will probably implement the system you are talking about in the mobile version of this game :). And the auto-restart was already added, but only in the mobile version. The web will most likely stay the same since I am now using another language which doesn't let me deploy to HTML5. Thanks for the suggestions! :D
Really fun game. Solid, simple mechanic that's oddly satisfying. I think you did a good job at teaching the player the mechanics through the level design. For example, starting them in a bottom of a pit to teach them how to wall jump.
simple idea pretty good art style great execution very good overall.
If you pleased you can go checkout my entry it will be very nice to rate it and leave a comment.
Simple concept but well executed with a gorgeous art style. Great job!
Real cool mechanic and minimalist art style maybe tone down gravity though to make wall jumping easier. (if you continued development you could even make different world with different gravity levels)!
Really well made and simple! I enjoyed how "pure" yet deep the mechanic felt. The levels were also fun to navigate, although the deep wells that required wall-jumping were sometimes frustrating. Perhaps one way the mechanic could be made more controllable would be by adding a "vector arrow" or something, indicating the direction that the bullet will get fired - as-is, it was sometimes hard to predict quickly where to place the mouse.
Thank you for your feedback, Ben! I actually thought about limited moves/time, but I'd like the game to be pretty chill since I personally don't like to be hurried, so I doubt I will add this. Also, I agree that wall jumping is very hard and I will see what I can do about that. Thanks again for your suggestions! :)
Definitly a clever and very well executed idea. I love how you are still able to create advanced platformer mechanics like wall jumping with only keeping the base movement you can do. And the art is very clean too, congrats !
I really like how simple the game is. It just has the one mechanic of using the explosions to move, but it's quite intuitive and you can really do a lot with it. The art style is very simplistic too which really fits. You don't have unnecessary details in the level art to muddy the game. The two-tone style looks great especially with the slowl fade of the goal and the colour inversion when you beat the level.
The first few levels play a lot like golf where you're trying to beat the level in just one shot which is super satisfying. Then the levels get quite challenging when you have to start wall jumping. I found it quite difficult to get the timings down for jumping, then blasting myself from the side wall to my target (I'm probably just bad). I found that my mouse would fall outside the game window and then my clicks wouldn't register so it would be nice if there was an option to go into fullscreen mode.
