I think they should add a type of currency where you could buy items if a ship comes past which could also be added in the game.
I also think that you should add workers to the game, so with the currency you could buy a fisher which fishes for you or a farmer who harvests and plants seeds for you or even a water or food worker which automatically sorts out your water purifier and food cooker. On the home screen when you select your raft it would show your raft instead of the standard one.
Please make these choices possible!
Hello, i've been playing this game for a while and i am still "scared" that that pesky shark would literally eat my "raft" if you can call something this big a raft... and i have an idea for somethiing to prevent the shark destroying the raft. For example reinforcements which to craft you will need a few pieces of scrap or an idea of spikes or a metal spikey net which need a rope and also a few pieces of scrap to craft. thanks for reading and i hope that one of my ideas would be added to the game.
I hope you having a great day ! :D
Thanks. ;-)
Please,add a 800x600 and 640x480 (but most importantly the first one) because well 640x400 looks ugly (and most text is completely unreadable) on my PC even though it works cool and 1280x720 looks cool but is laggy and I don't have any other resolutions between those two other than a lower one (320x240 or something like that) which would obviously be like completely unplayable and bigger ones which would obviously be even more laggy. I also want to record this game that's why I need it to be pretty much completely playable and also a bit good looking. Or are the resolutions actually supported and there's actually a problem with my PC/Monitor? That wouldn't be too good as at the moment I am not in a situation to upgrade...
If this helps for any frame of reference. These are my specs and works fine on fantastic and all the way to fastest. no lag that ive seen so far.

Make a MULTIPLAYER or possibility to connect with Hamachi and create own server, where you can play with your friends. This game is amazing and it could be more enjoyable, if you build a huge island with new items. Add more sharks or other dangerous fishes. More items. Islands where you can travel to. This game has so much options to do and i believe you will make it more awesome than it is right now.
You can make lighter (It can craft with some metal skrab) with which you can fire the cooker with some wooden planks.
Day-Night cycle. Beds with which you can skip night (It can craft with some planks and leaves).There may be many sharks at night.
You can make some illnesses if you eat raw food.
I like the game and it will be more interesting if it is harder.
It would be good to add different time periods (day, afternoon, night and rain), and keep in mind that there is no fall damage that makes survival easier, and there is an error with nets where it gets stuck and You can't go out and kill the shark or move you under the ground, and I think I speak for all users saying that it would be good to add more difficulty to the game, and constructible defenses against those difficulties, thank you very much.
OK so a good shark defense object should be a metal bar that is made each out of (5 SCRAP) and has 600 health and the shark takes 100 each time it tries to break it then goes underneath the water like it usually does when u stab it. the bar should go just along the foundation of the raft, also it should look like its a small bit rusty since the scrap u find in the water is rusty.
Yeah, thats a good idea. But i think it should be a little bit more expensive, like 20 scraps and 10 wood, to build a foundation with a metal bar. Because when its this expensive, they could handle it like that the shark does no damage to it at all. So when your raft is really really big, you dont have to check the bottom floor every hour. And when they implement other animals like a whale, they could add that this reinforced foundation only gets damage by a whale, which is very rarely and you can only see some whales after a specific point in the story of the game or after something like 4 hours. So if you dont have reinforced foundations, the whale instantly breaks a wood foundation, so you cant knock him away, like you can with the shark.
Hello developer of "The Raft" great game its really fun and strategic... I'd like to give some suggestions for the official release for example the shark doesn't attack very often and inside the barrels you can maybe add like a metal for better foundation "H.P" (Hit points by the shark's attack) as well as adding something that can try to defend the shark but not always can it defend it a benefit for this will most likely add a longer playing time because players can have multiple stories and not always have to worry about the shark another suggestion could be adding a map that builds itself as you progress through the ocean and have small island good for extra resources but you cant build a permanent home on the island like you can build a little shelter but after so long the game will tell you that a natural disaster is going to happen on the island and you need to leave or you may get a game over and something that just came to mind is making a day and night cycle and and add a bed into the game but that means your gonna have to add animals on islands but when you sleep you save the game but when sleeping you take the risk of a few foundations getting destroyed or damaged alsoif you find the animal thing a bit to much a hastle trader rarly pops up on an island you can get resources for a cost of something else This all may seem all may seem like a lot but I personally think it will make this game a REALLY great game and if you add some of these I will be very greatful and I'm sure this game will get great ratings and a lot more playing time do to islands and I feel like these suggestions scan add more people playing for a longer period of time and if you get the chance please reply back I would love to know what you think of these suggestions. Well thank you so much for creating this game and have a great day
Could you add the ability to throw spears? But once you throw them they're gone, unless it hits the shark and is then stuck in the shark and the only way to retrieve it would be to either pull off the shark or kill it to take your spear back. This could also be used to kill other animals if they were added to the game
It will be cool to see storms or weather effects like a high tide comes in and has a chance of destroying part of your raft but if you have walls up around it it has a lower chance of breaking your raft and if it does it will only destroy your walls so it gives walls a use and if it rains it has a chance to stop your fire and it takes a bit to come back so you have to but up roofs above your cooker or water purifier just some ideas but i absolutely love it and i can see it getting a lot more attention. Keep up the great work!!
Something I would really like to see is the ability to eat food from inside the inventory by right-clicking it or something, that would be much easier than having to assign it to a toolbar then reassigning what was already there. Also, the ability to directly grow ferns (for thatch) in cropplots would be nice, instead of having to wait for palm trees to grow, or for some to float by. Another thing is maybe having to use wood/thatch for fuel in cooking stations, and perhaps being able to make more advanced meals that heal more food by using different types of raw ingredients. (E.g: Shark Meat x2 + Coconut = Shark Fin Soup)
So far this game is really fun to play, it's a great idea that instead of having to look for land you have to utilise what's in the ocean to begin with. Hope to see this game develop more in the future!
I played the game and it seemed very good, but I see no purpose.
- The first thing I would add is some goal. When you have everything, water, food, materials, the game stops being attractive. Final thoughts: reaching an island. Gulls would indicate the way. If you could sail with your raft, with a helm or shovel visiting different islands.
-Although at first it costs to get materials, then you have too many because they do not stop coming.
Solution: most difficult to get items. You will get more addiction to the game.
- There should be more enemies. Like a pirate ship for instance. May it destroy your raft. Or other shipwrecks by which to change materials. Everything with AI.
- More variety of fish. Whales.
- To be able to submerge in the water. And not always be attacked by a shark. Being able to see coffers in the sand.
- DAY / NIGHT
-Surf. Rainy weather, big waves. That destroy the raft.
There is a great movie by Kevin Costner, WATERWORLD where you can get great ideas. Thank you!
Heyo thanks for the updates they are awesome :3
id like to give some ideas which i think are either easy or something you guys might want to do in the future.
Easiest to hardest.
-Adding watches and time: Not necessarily about adding day and night since it involves so much graphics designing. Adding time is like preparations for day and night and other kinds of implementations involving time.
-Adding scroll to switch among the features of the hammer. I do not mean replacing the current feature swapping code but just adding scroll so that it would be faster and easier to switch between functions of the hammer.
-adding poison status effects that decrease health for a short period of time via eating spoiled food and sea water.
-setting freshness limits for food.
-door frames and doors.
-adding floating plastics and styro as new items.
-adding coolers, this is fairly easy since we have storages so why not copy the code and as for the recipe one storage + 6 styro pieces, in addition add a slot that allows ice to run as fuel when accessing the cooler. so that while the ice is there the freshness limit of foods wont go down but the the timer for the ice will deplete until it melts into waste.
-making the shark sleep at night, this holds true for all fish that at night they sleep.
-adding 2 new entities that spawn at night and disappear by day.
+ghost boat i think you could just copy the ai of the shark but when it latches on the raft it wont do damage but remain stuck. also allow it to give cold ecoplasmic cubes that can be used for coolers when the ghost boat gets hit by spears.
+Ghost pirate a entity that rides the ghost boat until the boat latches on the raft thus the pirate boards the raft and kills the player. Drops eco cubes for coolers :)
-swords left mouse to attack and right to block (ghost pirate can use the attack patterns and style based on the player wielding swords)
-lastly day and night scenes
i hope theses ideas may help you guys out for your next update in the future ^^
to help with the idea for freshness limit, make use of time, let there be a base time in which will increment as the you play, now when you pick up foods that can spoil let this be a trigger, the moment its about to be in the inventory it will collect the current time it was made n depending on what it is let it also have a independent variable that will state how long it will last, each item that can spoil will have 2 variables which is date picked up and life span. With this, add a code before eating items (poison player=((current time- date picked)>=life span of item)?activate:inactive). if you do it like this you dont have to use counters to count the time before the item expires and it will save ram speed especially with many items, now dont worry about stack just let the stack use fifo(first in first out) using picked up date variable, now how to tell if item is spoiled? my guess is that you add a new function when holding items that can be eaten and with that function it will give "appraisal" in which a window that shows the status of item will be viewed while holding the key that activates the appraisal function. In my opinion use hold right mouse button to show item appraisal window. i hope this helps.
I think the best thing to add in the next few updates would be a day night cycle, and a temperature gauge. In the day you can over heat in the sun, so you either have to build a shaded area or go in the water to cool down, and when over heated you dehydrate faster. At night you can get too cold so you have to be inside or near a cooking stove/water purifier.
Add some leveling and add a skill tree that can make the player stronger and smarter to craft a better stuff. Add some day cycle , more food : tuna, crab, shrimp, act. Add fish net (for chatcing more fish at one and shrimp) ,add more weapons :sword, guns, spear gun, add diving suit, add flare gun (when a copter come you can use the flare gun a they drop a crate), add crate for medicine, food, seeds, gun part, diving suit part, a flare gun. Add more dangerous creatures after the shark : tiger shark, craken, megalodon. Add under water creature, add more design for building : door, windows, oak tree wall, birch wood wall or doors. That is all my ideas for now.
Don't look at language, because I from another country.
I have some in my opinion interesting ideas:
1) Ability to tame the parrot;
2) the Dog (it can be found as a puppy on the boat and gradually grow into a dog. The dog may begin barking at the approach of sharks);
3) New plants (carrots, tomatoes, wheat, etc.);
4) Accessories for Pets (cage, bowl, a place to sleep);
5) the night and the bed (which can be saved);
6) Candles, lamps and lanterns;
7) the third person;
8) Variety of food (and animals too);
9) a More adequate physics;
10) Steel underwater cage that a shark can't eat;
11) Ability to swim under water;
12) New weapons (knife, spear, etc.);
13) a New shark species;
14) Improvement to igraa (damage, HP, time without food and water, running speed and swimming time can a player be under water, endurance);
15) Rain and capacitance which will drain rain water after drinking that much stronger to quench the thirst;
16) Diseases that are appearing now if you long to be in the rain without shelter, and if you eat raw meat or drink the water of the sea (of the disease will reduce damage, running speed and the player will be more willing to drink);
17) the Umbrella and clothes;
18) Cooldowns upon death shark;
19) early In the game the opportunity to choose the ocean;
20) Winter and warm clothing in some oceans;
21) Rare boats which can be animal;
22) Sheep wool which can be made warm clothes;
23,1) Islands and boats (on the island will not sail things (to a point out to sea));
23,2) Instead of Islands you can have to be able to pour earth on the Board (to polucilasi, something similar to the island), and to grow grass and thus to raise sheep;
24) the Possibility of breeding sheep;
25) Compass with which to return home.
It would be nice if you could destroy your water purifier/crop box/grill without destroying the foundation beneath. Maybe have a feature on the hammer to destroy structures and get some material back. Also I broke a foundation in the middle of my raft (in order to get rid of my starter structures) and I cannot add a foundation there. It looks like the foundations can not be placed without an empty space on one side.
Great game! I look forward to future developments!
-= Exposure =-
Exposure would bring a whole new aspect to the way this game is played. The only requirements from you guys as the developers would be to implement an actual character into the game instead of floating arms.
First off, there would be a bar in the bottom right corner showing your exposure to the wide open. The exposure is affected due to the day/night cycles and how much clothing you have equipped. For instance, if it's night and you don't have any clothes equipped, you would be losing exposure at an alarming rate compared to if it's day and you have a heavy fur coat on. It's kind of like a temperature thing, but exposure sounds nicer. If the bar reaches halfway, you go 50% (editable) slower and if it reaches the full bar, you die.
As mentioned above, you would be able to craft clothing and there would be day/night cycles. First off is the clothing. There would be a new tab in the crafting menu and it would have lower clothing tiers (such as thin shirts) to higher clothing tiers (such as fur coats). You may be asking "how would you go about getting fur for the coats or cloth for the shirts?" Well I'm glad you asked! The thatch will be used for the cloth and the cloth makes every clothing item there is while there are little furry animals in the water such as otters and you would hook them in and stab them with spears.
So overall this addition would be easy to use and have a very high impact on he gameplay and make the game much harder! Thanks for reading this submission and have a great day
When we broke the foundation, the water purifier, etc., could drop 50% of the items we used to build them !! Other types of fish you can fish and other types of plantations, a small possibility, when, you kill the shark appear a shark cub or a white shark !! I'm Brazilian and I'm asking on behalf of youtuber godenot. :) :) :)
You could add a limit number of uses to an item, so it eventualy breacks.
Starting without a hook so we must swim to colect things at first.
Day-nigth cicle.
rainy weather.
fish net
food getting spoiled
other dangers apart of the shark (or more sharks).
Some kind of building, like spikes, to protect the raft.
may be an anchor that alows as to dive and colect things at depths.
sorry for my english :)
day and night,(and if you dont sleep you die because you are to long awake), torches/oil lamp and a bed to skip the night, diffrent sorts of fish (such as raw salmon), spikes to add on the edge of the foundation to defend the shark, achievements, make that you instantly die by falling of the edge of the world, make powersource like a dynamo to make elektricity or a peddle wheel to make things automaticaly, the shark must despawn after 5 min when you killed the shark (and you didn't took the meat of it), bow and arrows to shoot the shark from a distance, animals like birds/fish to breed, rotten fish in a barrel where maggots are, with maggots you can catch diffrent fish, all your tools must have durability, bucket where can fill up ten cans. already I love the game very much
PS:sorry for the bad english
(i like the dynamo-idea the most)
you don't have to edit all of this in the game
Good luck!
I really loved this game but I think it whould be better if the shard whasnt attacking your "building" so often because it makes the game boring cause u have to go and hit him every minute and u dont have so much time to do other thinks except hiting the shark. Second idea: that whould be better if you get thirsty and hungry not so often because I love survival games and I only have to drink water and I cant build. Thank you.
First thing to say is congrats by the game, is a excellent game anyway.
I saw a lot of good sugestions like weather, storms, waves, different kind of fishes and sharks, bed, temperatures, day and night cicles ....
But you can think about underwater. A possibility to craft some kind of system to breath underwater to dive and explore and collect resources such as stones, wood and metal from shipwrecks.
In this case the shark is less predictable and have how to defend ourself from him diving.
Thanks.
Chris.
I would like to see some automation in the game, so its less of a grind, and more of a, "Lets get to this point in the game by hard working, so we can make it easier by automation, and progress in the game quicker!" I feel at this point in this game's early stages, it gets to a point where farming resources for building just takes WAY too much time than it should. In the early points of the game, the progression system in the game is great, you have to manage between gathering resources, fighting off the shark, building your raft and gathering food and water. However, this sort of felling of making progress and trying to keep yourself alive sort of fades in late-game, which I also think comes quickly. Now, before everyone goes and hates on this post, it's not here to just criticise the game. Personally, I love the game! It has a great start and with the community providing these great suggestions, its really improving the game. So here are my suggestions.
1 - Automation
As I stated earlier in the post, I think some sort of automation in the game would really improve the game. Late game in Raft, it becomes quite a grind to gather resources to expand your raft, and other things like managing food and water and keeping the shark at bay seem like they're not even a task. Automation in the game would add a lot to the game, and make it less of a grind late-game and more of a means to find ways to make your raft better, with not so much restriction on resources needed to build it. I digress.
2 - Food and Water
Mid-Late game, food and water in Raft becomes irrelevant, players simply relying on coconuts to keep them alive. I feel that its a bit too easy, just relying on one plant, the palm tree for resources and food.
Hey! love the game, it is a ton of fun and there is tons of potential!
I am super glad you don't listen to the people badgering you for multiplayer or just "make the raft bigger" in every other post. If the game as it is now, which has minimal (although fun!) content diverting your attention to multiplayer will sap your energy to deepen the content of the game.
A lot of great things have been suggested but I would like to start with adding in some realism. The raft is planks of wood yet you can build infinitely tall rafts. A lot of people enjoy the building wooden towers aspect but maybe that can be left to some kind of world builder mode where physics don't matter. I mean the game is called RAFT and it plays like "build a giant wooden island." I would suggest requiring building pontoons out of wood or floating plastic or whatever that need to be placed under foundation that is built on. Perhaps you can start on a raft, like literally a plank of wood, and you build a separate base you have to anchor to a reef with pylons or float with pontoons, that would allow people to build taller structures. Then you can build better small sailing raft like vessels. The shark would mainly harass you when you sail not when on your dock-like structure until perhaps later in the game when large sharks come. There will have to be some motivation to constantly sail. Perhaps the end goal is to find dry land? Or maybe if you keep fishing in one spot you over fish it so you have to sail to catch more fish? I like the idea of farming but not on the raft, on the base.
Finally a basic day and night cycle (suggested a million times I know), the raft moving with the ocean/drifting without an anchor, storms, swimming under water, varying depths of water, birds that steal your food and nest (eggs). From there you could add more npc sea critters varying in size and characteristics.
Thanks for reading!
Hello! I am really glad if you are reading this post. I am sorry if some one has the same idea as me but I would simply like to see banana trees in the game! They would work the same as palm trees and you will also grow them in the same pots but they will fill your hunger bar more then a coconut does and it would fill your water bar less then a coconut does. You'll be able to find the seeds in barels. Thank you!
I would like too see going underwater collecting corals , stone and similar , with the point of the shark chasing you , or a small delay of few minutes after killing a shark .I would also like to see diffrent weather , and a cold/hot meter. Maybe bad weather that could damage your base if its made of wood . I have infinite suggestions for this game , cus at this stage and point it has almost infinite potential , the game is great just low on content. Thank you for reading this , and i apologise if my grammar is a bit off .
add more fauna in the ocean like whales, flyers fish, turtles,also try to add something like when you have improved your base maybe a boat pass near the base and throw nuclear waste which cause mutation in the fauna also make the water imposible to dink in a period of ime that wolud increase the difficulty of the game
Hello,
these are my sugestions for Raft. Those are just my thoughts, i havent looked other posts to look for Ideas. So some Suggestions might alreay be listet in another post. Some of the following Sugestions might make no sense without knowing all the others, so i recommend read them all.
1.SAND : Adding Sand or something like this to be able to create glass, which can be cooked in the oven(3.) to make Glasswindowwalls. Glas can be "fished" with waterlift(8)
2.WALLDOORS : there are Wallwindows so why shouldnt there be Walldoor ?.
3.OVEN : An oven, which is an advanced Cooking Staion, to cook fish and potatos faster and to smelt sand(1.)
4.BUILDING UPGRADES.: Just something you craft from Scratch and place it on a floor/wall etc. To upgrade it and give it more HP, but when you wanne repair it you will need Scrap instead of only Wood.
5.MORE PLANTS : More kind of plants, for example appletrees which drop apples instead of Coconuts, and Carrots similar to potato.
6.FURNITURE : different things you can build and that even work as things like Cooking Station or Beds to be able to respawn.(no, thats not stolen from Minecraft)
7.EQUIPMENT : Wear of Tools so its not that easy to kep base protected and build, multiple Weapons and versions of Weapons like a Metalspears(less wear than Spear) and MetalHook etc.
8."WATERLIFT" : (no clue which name giv it). A Wooden "Machine" which can be placed like the Item Net. It goes down to the ground of the ocean and brings Sand and other Stuff (1)
9.PLANTGROWING : Make potato grow a little bit longer, cause after getting one potato its so easy to survive, and something like a fillable Waterbucket and sth. like a Waterindicator to see when you have to refill Water(for example dark and light dirt).
10.MULTIPLAYER : ofcourse a Multiplayer is not easy to make for a smaal group of developers but in later versions and more updates pretty much any raft player will be happy about mutliplayer.
11. DAY AND NIGHT : A day and night system to make the game more pretty.
I hope some of these Ideas dont sound retarded :D
-philgamer
BTW nice game ;D keep on doing like this
u can fix whats not broken but i think that the constant managing the food, water, and health thing makes that game very long lastingly enjoyable, but if in the future there are tons of thing that u can do and don't have time to keep coming back and to eat and drink then this sounds like a good idea.
metal foundations to not only use the metal long game users end up with but to make it so there is and upgrade scene to the game.
other plants like carrots onions or other root based food for the grow beds meaning little grow animations plus may be able to just re skin the potato.
have food and water cookers take wood to burn. little like 10 water can be cooked from 1 plank. that way its also not a time thing just a use thing. witch is easier to code.
perhaps make it so u can drop a raw fish on a foundation to get the shark to come to u where u want. as well as it might provide an aggressive way of dealing with them. plus maybe a constant spawn of 1 every half hour or hour of game play caping at say 5. not enuf to slow computers much but for sky scraper builders enuf that the whole thing can come down if they dont take care of them. and/or a setting to turn off and on sharks for a potential passive run.plus kind of a bug. i came down to find the shark had taken out 3 completely (i mean 3 deep completely) surrounded foundations.
maybe barrals can give u a base of 2 planks and 1 metal. just as the materials its made of.
double high poles so its easier to build over a tree farm
meat to veg/ fruit ratio in food. a day night cycle .
maybe a 1% chance of huge stuff that u might find floating. like an old sail. gives u 5 thatch or something. and again re skin the barrel as a multi item object already coded make its base items different and maybe its interaction with nets for size.
maybe a small chance of pulling up metal or stone or other sinking materials u would like to add with the fishing pole. anding a new way for stuff to be in the game even if it wouldnt perticularly float.
hope u all liked my ideas. if a dev sees this and ikes it e-mail me at tonytontope@gmail.com. im willing to add input just want to know its seen
Events That Could Be Added:
Ocean Storm (heavy rain and rough ocean)
High Tide (flood)
Migrating Sharks (Sharks Attack)
Hot Waters (appearance of huge whales , whales can destroy some parts of your raft)
Tropical Cyclone (appearance of a huge nearby cyclone with strong winds, can be pulled)
Water Trunk (smaller and less devastating than the cyclone can pull a lot of water)
Mysterious Day (strange things happen around, UFOs, ness monster or bloop, a loud noise picked up from a huge mysterious creature)
Fish Migration (can attract various creatures like fish, dolphins, swordfish, and you can collect lots of food during the period)
Polluted Ocean (various garbage appears, and you will not be able to drink the water during the period, but you may collect lots of materials)
Pirate Attack (several pirate ships appear, rarely can they shoot or stop and descend on their raft to steal some items, their goal and defeat them with the spear if they descend)
Ocean Mist (low visibility through mist)
Polar Shells (they appear to be able to collide with your raft, you can collect the ice, and make fresh water)
Swirls (various swirls appear, if dropped in water will be pulled by some swirls, you may die or lose some items if you survive)
Frozen Ocean (some parts around you may freeze, you can walk on the frozen water)
Water Mines (some explosive mines appear floating in the water, exploding on your raft (a small explosion that will break one or four woods) and leaning against it may explode and kill)
Toxic waters (you can not enter or drink the water during the period)
Items That Could Be Added:
Harpoon (you can hunt sharks)
Fishing Net (you can catch several fish at one time)
Fishing Cage (you can catch several crabs or lobsters)
Bow and Arrow (you can shoot sharks or birds)
Backpack (a second inventory, you can put more items)
Fruits (fruits that can come from barrels or come in the form of seed to be planted)
Bait (to attract the shark)
Bucket and Barrel (may contain liquids)
Things That Could Be Fixed:
More Space On Chests (increase the amount of slot in chests)
Construction Conflicts (take away some unnecessary conflicts to build freely)
OBS: this is just an idea of things can be added =)
I think it needs more new craft. We can move with small boats, archery, clothing increased resistance on underwater shark attack, ...
- Add some recipes and ecosystems such as birds, fish, or using tools such as fishing nets ...
- Add Day and night.
- Some of the oasis, the boat sank, (if there is a mini map and small boats). The idea caught on the island animals and new food?
+ Can not live on the island - tide if there day and night (logic xD).
Sorry for my English is not good. I am French :((
Amazing idea of having an island with a tide. Exploration is a later developed thing but it is definitely one of the key components of a game like this. I would love to see this game of different species of animals as well as a ecosystems and biomes. Another wonderful idea is to expand the ocean, as in make it more diverse in color with different animals and scary stuff. :)
The main problem with a 'motor' is some form of electricity to make it. I suppose if magnets were added and scrap could be refined into copper wires, it would be possible, but logically, it would take ages to make a motor powerful enough to move a raft the theoretical size it is in the game. Even a small one or two square raft wouldn't work. Wood may be light (especially certain types of palm wood), but wood that isn't smooth will create lots of resistance. You'd hardly be able to move at all, let alone fight any strong currents. (I've taken physics classes in high school.) The most logical thought would be sails or the ability to make a single, massive, stationary raft (base) and a few small rafts to take on trips away from the main raft.
multiplayer is not planed for know apparently as it would take a LONG time to set up and the team working on it is not big enough to handle such a task well also doing small updates to keep us happy well we wait. idk but i think lan 2 player would be easier at a start and would set up the ground work for online but even that would take a lot.
Here are some of my Ideas:
1. The Goal of the Game: - Your first goal is to build up your raft to survive on it.
- The second Goal is to build some type of things to move your raft over the water to specific points
- The third Goal is to get to some island, which you already could see from the raft far far away.
- On this islands are some rare materials for which you have to dig or knock on rocks (items which you can't found in the sea and which can give you more opportunities like reinforcing your foundation, better fire places where you can put more than 1 steak at a time etc.). And on some islands you can find pieces of an map in some kind of treasures. (So you have to get to more than 1 island to get the map.)
- The fourth goal and main goal is to get to the land, which you now can see on the map! To get to this land, you have to pass some dangerous zones with your raft (maybe not pirates but something like for example 5 sharks at a time and you have to throw in some meat in the water, so they won't notice you while drive threw them. So things for which you need a strategie to get threw, not to fight threw) When you reached the land you see a beach with a forest behind that. Maybe the world border could be a mountain in the forest. So you kinda finished now your game on the water.
- The final goal on the land is to build up a colony. For this you can find some natives in the forest. These persons only will follow you, when you build them specific houses. For this you can now craft a new house building hammer. Each house has a different thing to do. So you can have a taverne for drinks, a fishing house for fishing, a wood chopper for wood, a collecter house for collecting some berrys, a bakery for bread, a farming house for planting and collecting potatoes, and a market with a well for water. So to build up your colony, you have to collect the materials for each house you want to build. But you have to be careful with this. Because all natives need a specific amount of water and food everyday. If you cant reach this on 1 day it is okay, but if you cant reach it on the second day aswell, they burn up the house in which they work and run away. So to get them back you have to rebuild the house.
You dont have to go to every person itself to give him food and water, you just have to put it at the market, the natives are going every morning to the market and picking up their amount of food and water from their chests (so you have to put the food and water seperatly for each native in a specific spot in the inventory of the market, so you can get rid of a native by not giving him food). Some natives even need specific type of food, like only fish etc..
So have to slowly increase your colony, otherwise it will fall apart because you cant collect as much food and water as they want. Of course in the long time, you cant build a farm house and a native who picks up water, so you dont have to do this by yourself, but they need specific ressources.
So to end this my idea is, to add more goals to the game. So your first goal is to reach a island, because if look in your history you see, that you had a accident with your boat. On the island you find a piece of a map on which you see half of a name and something which looks like a land. Now you paddle with your raft from one island to another. Finally you have the full map and know where to go to reach the land. When you reach the land you see a native and you think why not build up a colony.
So thats my idea. What do you think about it? :)
Some Ideas for a Multplayer: When they would add my suggestion with the colony, maybe they could add a multiplayer, where you can build up your colony with up to 20 others. Each starts on a raft, each have to get to some islands for the map so that they can meet each other on the land.
Another Idea would be a Coop, so that you start with 1 friend on the raft and have to do the stoy/ campagne.
Another Multiplayer idea would be to have a creative server, where you have a specific area on the sea. max. 20 areas are on the sea in a circle. (in the server options, you can choose for how much areas you want on the sea, and you can check a box, so that the less areas you want, the bigger they are). This Server is only for building the best and most functional raft. You can come on the server as a visitor, and you will spawn in the middle of the circle, where the visitor raft is. The visitors can go from one area to another by choosing them in a menu, to walk on the rafts and look around. They can vote for the best looking and functional raft. after each week the most voted raft will be displayed, and everybody can import it in their creative mode to have it as their own, If you import it to your game, you can't change it and the builder is displayed on a sign.
Your idea is great !
i would also add:
- Metal Foundations which dont get destroyed but are expensive (20 Metal or so)
- Sitting on Chairs (these little things make Games awesome)
- Maybe a Bench
- Fishing Net (which is like the normal net but for fish
- Doors and Doorways
- Strong Wood Walls which have no light passing through
- Balista which you can sit in and hunt the shark with
- Music instruments like a guitar
- for getting your raft to another place maybe a Sail out of Thatch, Wood and Rope
- Rudder for steering
- CO-OP ! This game is the coolest game i already have ! But playing it with DEMP-Mod makes it neary perfekt
(But Demp mod has many bugs and does not save the inventory from other players and it would be awesome if you would get the dev from Demp to your team)
And please keep on updating ! Dont try to do to much at once ! And have fun ! We understand that this is your hobby and not your job ! Nobody wants you guys to quit or fail school or shit like that.
Fish Net : For the automated collection of fish
Fish Bait : Mash potatoes to make bait for the Fish Net
Replaceable Nets : made out of rope and/or thatch
Changes : Item nets and Fish Nets need to be replaced or repaired with new Replaceable Nets when they get used to much
Changes : every time you kill the shark it gets harder to kill and attacks more or the species of shark changes and each has their own stats and abilitys
These are some ideas I thought of and hope you take a look at what I think should be added. =) please and thanks
if the shark getts stronger every time why would you kill it? just leave it and replace what breaks? also if it getts harder every time it will be come way op very fast just add disasters like storms that damage random parts of your raft and blowe you raft around . when / if they add moving to the rafts
CAN EVERY ONE THAT READS THIS DROP A COCONUT OVER THE EDGE AND WATCH IT XD you guys (the devs) need to make the ocean deeper plz i mean hows the shark even that shallow i mean i could nearly stand in that .... ok mabe not but its like 6-10 meters deep at max and thats if its supper clear probably only like 4 meters just thought it was funny. also make it so we can move/ rotate the raft... yea i mainly ask that so you can add servers later but plz plz PLZZZ PLZZZZ!!!!! :) TY you guys are doing awsome...... and getting spammed with what people want and some of them may sound needy but still plz keep going Xb so many new game devs just ditch even some that have been going for ages and are great (NOTCH did cas he helped his game and no one could see he was helping and he got flooded with hate) not comparing your game to mc at all just saying DONT LEAVE USSSS. i havent seen anything from devs for a little and :/ you should say what your working on a little more
i just know some ones going to complain about how i said mincraft in another games review always happens. damm i got off topic 0-o meh great game thought you may want to know about the ocean and idk if its still like that in 1.4 i only checked in 1.3 cas theirs not much new yet just chests
There should be a force to be reckoned with, other than the shark. maybe weather, the occasional storm, to make expanding a much bigger pain. a new way to play the game, is to add a new day/night cycle, ingame minutes seconds, ingame hours minutes. when u create a new map, you specify how many days you have to survive, weather, shark(or maybe even multiple sharks :))(s), day/night cycle, food, water, resources needed (multiplied), resource chance, barrel luck, lives(1 life+, or infinate), and much more possibilities. as well as that, maybe presets, like realistic, wage against the sharks, hardcore, creative, easy; the possibilities are endless! this comment was mostly all me thinking out loud, so it may seem all over the place.
also, there should be floating items, and the higher you make your raft, the lower the bottom platform sinks. floaters can be added to fix this, crafted with rope, wood, thatch AND scrap; the whole lot. also, bits of your raft can fall off if unstable, for example, floaters on the edge of your raft, with an upstairs in the middle. the middle would end up colapsing, because its not supported.
i hope 1 or more of these ideas make it into the game, even the WIP progress just to try them out. im no good at coding, so i don't know if any of these things are too hard. among the endless "SEA" of comments, theres quite a low chance that this is the one that is at the top when the devs come and check. like this if you agree- assuming this works like youtube comments. i don't even know if you can like, i just made this account SO i can comment!
:D
Hello man,
HayabusaGaming here. im a low profile youtuber that likes playing new games and addicting games. i've been playing ur game for 3 days now and allready have over 12 hours on it haha.
I have a few questions!!!!
-i dont need a multiplayer mode but a Co-Op mode if thats possible.
like that u both start on a raft 4-4 or that both start on a raft 2-2 but far from each other. and that you need to travel towards each other.
-is it possible to make something like a loot crate/container/suitcase were you can find things like clothes - maybe more seeds: like tomatoe, pineapple etc keep it exotic ;P.
But also more options and things to make the game harder like.
-Try to add more type of fish. some fish are good for your health other fish are bad for ur health. maybe multiple shark attacks.
New weapons like a trowable speak or a bow and Arrow.
- maybe a fun animation to make cooking more interessting. like that you need to craft a knife to skin the fish before you cook it.
Building;
I realy like the walls and the windowed walls. but i miss the most inportant thing. i know nobody is going to raid me. but i need to privacy when i mastrubate. so i want DOORS!! hahah
keep up doing the great work. if i come up with anything else ill let you know. i will keep playing the awesome game and cant wait for the next update.
*last question tho. are the updates automatic or do i need to download the game everytime over again??
Greetings from holland!

I think that before adding anything else you should add a shiftclick function for items. I think the shark, once it dies, should not come back for 5 minutes or so, to add relief to killing it. Also I think that the raft should never move by the player but it should be constantly drifting adding the ability for SMALL islands to be swum over to. please no more weapons, don't add pvp, if you are going to add multiplayer only coop. and no story please no story.
Some ideas I had while playing:
I think we need day/night cycle and in night visibility should be decreased and in water we would see creatures which can flash cool lights, u know like medusas in sea. In day everything would be normal ;)
We also need weather, snowy, windy, rainy. You know, when its snowy or rainy you need get better clothes, when its windy your weak supported platforms can broke. When its rainy you need rooftop to dont get wet and cold. Shark should be stronger because now he isnt too dangerous, with spear you can defeat him in 2 minutes, its not reallistic.And if wind will can break our raft, we would can build some of our raft (for example stairs and pillar) using metal. That will give it resistance for wind! Also foundations could be possible to build with metal what will give it bigger resistance for shark attacks :)
Storms! :D Storm would be very dangerous for us and our raft, if we dont have walls it will throw us out of raft, and shark or pyranhas will kill us.
We need more creatures! Some fishes or birds would be great! And bottles with messages as easter eggs :D
If more creatures, also more of these bad! Multiple shark attacks or something. And if we will kill a shark, new will spawn after few minutes not instantly :)
Of course with more dangers we need more weapons. Bows! Throwable spears!(jawelins)
More crafting recipes, for big bottle from metal scraps and ropes which will be expensive but can store more water like for 3 uses :) Maybe crafting recipe for clothes and cap, rags too! also for arrows to our bows of course :)
Fishing net should catch fishes (rarely!) instead of catching items! They should be separate net for catching items and for catching fishes! Also shark should sometimes try to stole our catched fishes in net.
Mainly, getting food should be harder, harvesting potatoes should be most safe way of getting food, but for example fishing would take more time to get fish (a bit faster if u have lure, for example potato or metal scrap) and killing shark should be good rewarded suicide ;)
Those ideas are amazing! I'd like to add that piranhas shouldn't always appear, just random times, to make it more like a mystery!
I don't think there should be different nets for catching items and fishes.
But if they're developing this game a lot further, those ideas should really be considered! There are a load of amazing ideas on this website btw!
Also, I don't know if it's possible, but I'd love it if we were still able to gather while the hammer is selected. Anyway, love the game! Simple but addictive!
I totally agree with the extra seafood and the negative side effects to eating raw meat and drinking salt water. I'd personally say that eating too much raw meat or drinking too much salt water would make you vomit (gross, but fairly realistic). Also, it's worth noting that drinking salty beverages will make you thirsty again quicker (hence one of the reasons you have to purify the sea water (there are other reasons like fish poop and bacteria and other gross stuff, but whatever)).
As for the day/night cycle, it looks like it's on the way!
only thing is mite need to balance the materials like metal or if u can make a upgrade system like for the raft from wood to metal or sumething like that walls it would make it harder for the shark to break aswell also like the idea about a under water life and to be able to dive down to get stuff like plants and fish and other stuff and search wreaks would be good for gear and clothing would be kool
day and night,(and if you dont sleep you die because you are to long awake), torches/oil lamp and a bed to skip the night, diffrent sorts of fish (such as raw salmon), spikes to add on the edge of the foundation to defend the shark, achievements, make that you instantly die by falling of the edge of the world, make powersource like a dynamo to make elektricity or a peddle wheel to make things automaticaly, the shark must despawn after 5 min when you killed the shark (and you didn't took the meat of it), bow and arrows to shoot the shark from a distance, animals like birds/fish to breed, rotten fish in a barrel where maggots are, with maggots you can catch diffrent fish, all your tools must have durability, bucket where can fill up ten cans. already I love the game very much
PS:sorry for the bad english
(i like the dynamo-idea the most)
you don't have to edit all of this in the game
Good luck!
Ps4 and Android please :)
It would be great to be able to build a ship and go to a desert island and find new materials, for example and also that the shark attacks without being counted, and if we die do not lose all progress and also include weather climates like rain, snow, storms, or Let it be night day and be able to build a bed
It's a concept that works really well for Don't Starve (and its multiplayer counterpart) though. And I'd identify this game as closer to Don't Starve than Minecraft. If the perma-death really bothers a lot of people, the devs might (if they feel like it could add to the game) make it a option, like how Minecraft has the UHC/Permadeath option.
I think id* rather have game-controller-thingy for pc ,so i can play with Xbox-PlayStation-etc...-controllers on pc ,witch there are app*s that can run in the back-ground of any game so your able to play tham on pc like minecraft,,etc... but it would be nice for an option in the game itself // But i don*t know if thats already in the game or not. I*m gonna try it now. tata>?>?<><3

worth d THi everyone. Firstly, I would like to thank the developers for creating such a unique and original game idea. I do have some suggestions/ideas though that would greatly enhance the game experience for all players:
1: Difficulty selection - I have had to restart my game at least 20+ times within the first 30 minutes due to dehydration, starvation and becoming shark lunch and all the while struggling to gather even the most basic resources to begin to expand or start to play the game. It would be great if there would be a beginners/novice difficulty for those who have not played a game like this in the past. I know of several other people who have tried this game but had the same death repeat death repeat death experience and this has stopped them from continuing to play.
2: Starting resources - As referenced in point 1, I have been struggling to obtain any resources after starting a game. Maybe on easier difficulty levels the player could have a small amount of resources to be able to construct the basic necessities to allow the game to last more than 5 minutes.
3: Longer time periods before dehydration and starvation sets in - I am finding that I can barely craft a hammer before I'm dehydrated, let alone a water purifying station. I've coughed out more times than I can count trying to establish a foundation.
4: When you kill that pesky shark it should at least drop some food or materials! The amount of logs it eats, there should be a whole chest worth of items. Maybe even a whale or 2 to take care of them!Overall, I did enjoy playing this game but my experience would be greatly enhanced if these ideas/suggestions may be given some consideration.
Thank you for your hard work in creating this concept.
You're given a hook. If you reel in materials, you can build a spear, distiller, campfire, and fishing rod fairly fast. Once you have that down, raft expansion is easy, and you can build nets. Since the shark only attacks every so often, you can spend your time building and gathering what your nets have collected.
If anything, some form of guidance on teaching that the hook can reel in floating materials needs added, or perhaps how to craft for water and food. It's terribly easy once you start up, as long as you know how to get started.
Then that has nothing to do with the difficulty or how hard it is to actually play the game and know how to do things. Novice difficulty or starting resources would never make up for your system not being able to run the game.
What you need to be asking for instead is optimization, or at least getting a "minimum system requirements" listed to tell you that you can't handle it.
I dunno about the difficulty. I'm doing all right. Sure, it took a bit of learning, but even on my first play through, I didn't die of starvation or dehydration. It's a mad dash for resources right off the bat, yeah, but after the first ten minutes, it's really only about expanding your raft more and making yourself more comfortable. It takes some getting used to, but I don't think it's all that bad. Get everything you can early on, and craft what you need as soon as you have the resources (water purifier first, can second, fishing rod third, cooking station fourth).
It would be interesting if you had some "rare item drops" from barrels-- things that didn't occur too frequently and could be used to create special items, like more powerful weapons or unique furniture-type stuff. Maybe make it like something from whatever shipwreck seemingly left you stranded out there. Other animals would be interesting, too, even if they were just for ambiance. My suggestion would be to have an albatross that flies overhead, maybe lands on your raft for a little bit.
maybe we can go underwater for a certain amount of time?
day/night cycle would be cool.
different sharks or other things. some friendly some not.
fires, tents, maybe you can add something that can move our rafts, but the shark will always follow you.
small islands near by that have some loot.
crabs in those islands?
different fish.
you could add ship wrecks that you could explore in.
and one more thing...MULTIPLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!
make a way you can make a homehosted server with hamachi or something similar to the way minecraft started servers then you can add up on it and that would be amazing, also add day/night cycle its weird having all day, also fix the annoying animation bugs like when you go to throw your hook it does the animation when your charging up, also add bigger chests or make you be able to hold more stuff like bigger stacks, add a experimental mode with unlimited items so you can mess around and see what happens when you do certain stuff. also eastereggs would be amazing like if you make a tall enough raft got just brings you to heaven or you sing and satin brings you to hell? idk but definatly make a steam greenlight page i would rate the game a $1-$30 game.
1. Day/night cycle
2. Weather cycle
3. Tweak balance of thirst/hunger, currently they seem a bit fast
4. VR support. This game would be fantastic with VR and motion controller support, as the player's actions would map very well for this. Also, this experience would be unique among VR experiences (as far as I've seen).
Add:
-New Tools allowing for a more destruction of the boiler and fire
-Night And bed (at night it will rain, snow, or will the storm, the weather shall not hurt injury to a prevent this you need to build a roof)
-Wall, Roof, floors and windows with stone
-New Tool which enables improvement of the walls, floors, roof, windows
-New raw stone
-Multiplayer
-And creating for free new server
This is a little nitpick, as I do love most of your ideas, but if the developers choose to go with the weather, based on the apparent location and presence of a shark, no snow. Rain storms are the only thing you would potentially run into (unless you wanted to be utterly cruel and literally end games via hurricane-- please don't.).
Ooh, you could also add a rare chance of a huge swordfish catching your fishing rod and dragging you some distance. That could also change up your location a bit, maybe giving you an alternate type of shark or something.
Yeah, I know. All I can come up with is rare occurrences. I just think the surprises would shake things up in a fun way.
Crops i.e Tomatoes, Beans, Carrots
Tree types i.e Figs, Dates and possibly fruit trees
Food station where you can make meals
Expensive craft station where you can grind up to maybe a windmill type thing to generate for a simple motor/propellor
The crafted propellors can take you to various small islands in the distance where you can get maps of surrounding islands.
Also a compass in the U.I
The game would have more variety if is was multiplayer. because it would let you play with your friends and build like that make a 4 player coop but to make it harder for 4 people put more sharks.to make it easier to get resources spawn more stuff. So that would really progress the game from where it is. P.S all of my friends have been asking fro it too.
add a harpoon or something
also you should make a coconut net and fish net or make a net item that you can place on the tree cropplots to make a coconut net, on a foundation to make an item net then you could place another net on an item net to make a fish net.
multiple sharks
a boat that can survive shark attacks and then be destroyed and re-enforced
reinforceable foundations
I think you could add the next element:
sorry for my english, it's not my native language.
I would include day an night, so during the day you can get burn and you hace to craft clothes to protect you. In the night you can see iluminated animals in the water.
Also that you can craft rafts to explore other islands, and there you can find new materials and enemyes.
I wish there were traps for sharks, archery, lances of differents materials, when something collapses the animation appears, and that when te shark is about to attack you appears the song of the shark.
Pirates!! I would like to include pirates, good pirates and bad pirates.That would be awesome!!
If there is day an night you can include lightning, like torches. Electricity of the water courses, that is great, you can cook faster and have ilumination whith lapms. Rails and wagons for a faster transport. Armor to fight.
Those are all my ideas. Only one more for the end of the game...
When you passed the game, that a helicopter comes to rescue you.
That's all, I hope you put some of my ideas. Bye!
