Very good artstyle. Great game.

That was a really cute game :)
I played through to the end and I enjoyed platforming with the arrows. If you decide to work on this game after the jam, the only thing I can really think of to improve it is to add some checkpoints in the levels.

Congratulations for the game! Loved the overall aesthetics and how it is linked with the theme.. Rated <3

If you are interested in Tower Defense, check out our game. A tower defense where you can control only one tower at a time.

Incredibly polished entry! Unfortunately, I'm terrible at it and couldn't even clear the first level. I could never get the hang of recalling an arrow and shooting it underneath where I was standing, I always collided with it and was flung to the ground. I think the game would be plenty of fun to play if you ditch the theme adherence and make a version where you can shoot more than one arrow. I really wish I could have seen more of the game!

I like the idea, even though I've seen similar games with similar idea before. The art and the music are neat, but I just couldn't complete the second level. It's really hard and frustrating to jump on the arrow after you shoot it. Sometimes the arrow is too slow, sometimes the arrow pushes the player down and you can't get on it without falling and dying. The process of shooting the arrow and jumping on it should feel cool to the player so he wants to keep doing it, instead I was worried if I'll do it the wrong way again and fall. The mechanics feels rough by now, but it can be fixed. Other than that, it seems like a really cute and fun game to play, the animations are really good and shooting at the enemies feels great. Work a bit on the game and it will be awesome!

Nice graphics, sound, and very smooth platforming.

Oh man, the platforming is fun! (Except a few blind jumps into the pit)

Fun enemy designs, each add a new challenge to the combat.

Unfortunately, i skipped half of all of them, and only chose to fight some that i feel like to fight

Ha ha, i feel especially smart dodging them with my deep understanding of the game's mechanics.

Please keep it like this
(or add extremely difficult path to award my discovery with more challenges)

Please tell me if this is intended.
If so, you are a god.

Finally got round to playing it! Great approach to dealing with the theme! Cute character design too

This is a very nice idea! Platforming part is nice, and I think it would be overall a lot better if there was only platforming and some puzzles with an arrow. Combat is very simple, and it's ok, but there's too much encounters, so I thought I should note on that it's a weak part of the game.

Anyway, you did a very good job!

It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!

That was really well done. Good job!

The artstyle just looks amazing.

Enjoyed it! The second level needs some checkpoints, but otherwise I thought the gameplay was fun and difficult. Despite only having one enemy type (with variations), you managed to create a variety of situations that kept the player constantly aware of your main mechanic. Very well done!

Very polished, with a stunning amount of depth in both the levels and the central mechanic. My only complaint is that going back to the beginning of the level every time I fell into a pit got annoying after a while, especially after the final boss-- it might have been better to have a checkpoint system or make the player lose a heart.

Developer

Yes I need a check point system for sure, but I haven't learned how to do that yet haha.  Will study how after the jam~  Thanks for playing and commenting!

This is a very solid entry with a good use of the theme. Right from the start, I liked how you adapted the arrow (one bullet) behavior to the platformer concept. I only wish there were some more checkpoints, especially after very challenging sections.

Overall it's very polished and fun to play! Well done!

Thanks a bunch for playing!  I will learn how to do check points after the jam for sure~

Although I have played another "One arrow game" in this jam, I have to say your game is better. The leaf particles effect really inspire me. And i checked your youtube channel and found you are also a great teacher in korean maybe?

For level design, using arrow to jump higher position is one nice concept in your game. And I guess you used the U Slider to make the Boss Health bar.

In many detail places such as grass and the homing arrow effect, You really do a great job in 48 hours. Congrats.

Thank you for playing!  Yup I live in Korea, I teach English~ I subscribed to your YouTube!  Thanks for the cool tutorials there~  I've learned everything about Unity from YouTube haha.  Look forward to more videos! Thanks again.

Excellent entry! This is so polished, there is even grass animation when the main character move on it.

Your magic arrow works so well. And there is so much content for a 48h game, really impressive.

Great job! :D

Developer

Thanks for playing!  i spent most of the time making the arrow work~  and at the end i probably spend to much time duplicating grass haha.  Should have focused on level design more, but i love interacting environments~  Thanks again for playing!

Fun game, really loved the audio! I kinda wish that when recalling the arrow it would do damage to things it hits on the way kinda like in Titan Souls where you have a bow with one arrow and can shoot it out to do damage and have it do damage on the way back.

Developer

Yes I wanna figure out how to make the arrow do damage on the way back, that is a great idea!  I was also considering making the arrow pierce enemies instead of instantly recalling back, what do you think?  Thanks for playing and commenting!

Submitted(+1)

I feel piercing enemies would be a good addition. I am not a big fan of the instant recalling since it allows you to spam without really thinking about your arrow count making it no longer feel like a one arrow game. Forcing the player to still have to recall the arrow even after a hit would keep the one arrow feel.

This game use a pretty usual way of the concept 'one arrow', none the less I admire how clever you use the arrow as a part of platforming, nice work. However, there are problems with

  1. Movement and jump, I think they're sluggish;
  2. Bow mechanics. I think it would feel better if you added some kind of charging machanic for it.
  3. Level desing, some parts of levels where I have to use the arrow are unpolished and it's hard to beat even though I shooted the arrow precisely.
Developer

Thanks for the feedback!  You're the first one to say the controls are sluggish~  May I ask your computer stats?  The reason is I wonder if I went overboard with animated collider trigger grass and fur on the main character.  I worried if it would effect performance on less powerful machines.  My friend reported that on his older computer sometimes the double jump wouldn't work cuz of lag~  Did your movement experience match what is seen in the gameplay trailer?  Thanks for playing~
