How does your game fit the theme?
We feel it fits the theme of Out of control because it literally randomly changes the usual control keys that player often use to move and jump in game. They cannot control the time the key changes nor to what key changes there are. In addition to that, they are not in control of the gravity shifts as they try to escape the lava. Basically put, it fits the theme of Out of Control as we interpreted the theme as Out of Control being not in control, and in this case, the controls for movements.

Did your team create the art for this game during the 48 hour time slot?

Oh wow, I played quite a few games with constantly changing controls but this one is my favorite so far. It's very simplistic and this way it puts the focus on the change in the controls. Well done!

Quite an interesting idea - I liked how it keeps you on your toes by switching inputs every now and then. There were some minor bugs related to the character teleporting around and getting stuck in level geometry but it was fine otherwise. =)

Cool idea!

Personally I would change one thing and that is the slime so it fits with other textures because now his/hers one pixel is like four on other textures. He/She just want to be more detailed. :D

Interesting game. Maybe a bit too hard because some keys are just too difficult to use as controls at the same time. Also the repetitive sound of lava gets a bit annoying. And as some people mentioned, I think there a fix needed for collisions, because I can get stuck on the edge of platforms with no other choice than restart the game.

It's got an interesting idea, changing the controls randomly, but I feel the execution feels a bit off. The text that shows you what keys to use is very small and not very legible, so it's sometimes really hard to tell exactly what key I'm supposed to use. Is it a K or is it an H? Also, I feel that collision is not as polished as it should be, I got stuck multiple times and had to restart. The message at the end is pretty nice though.

Too hard for me.
The other comment here explain very well why. With this small changes, it could be fun.

I think the idea of the game has good base but it could use some work. For example a timer or some indication that the keys were about to change would prevent the player from committing to a important jump or movement only to have their input taken away from them without warning.

Also I think the combination of keys that the slime has its movement change to should be created in more intuitive combinations since pressing keys in combinations which are seemingly randomly scattered across the keyboard is not something I personally enjoy.

Lastly I wish there were some indicator on the map that let you know if you were headed in the right direction or where in the world you were. The game world seemingly sprawls in several directions and with most of it looking the same it can be very easy to not know where I am and if I'm on my way to the exit.

Good luck for the future!

Super fun! Creative and well executed. I think it would be nice to have a little countdown for when the controls are going to change, and maybe some visuals or sound to make it really obvious when they do change. Some keys were also a little hard to read with the small font, I think they could be made huge.

Really well done!

Well made, and engaged me quickly - with some smoothness added to the shifts in controls it could provide a surprisingly enjoyable search the keyboard frantically experience I think!

A really fun game, it was definitely amusing to struggle over the keyboard and try and make sense of the controls lol. The repetitive music of the lava rising did get a bit annoying after a while but I liked the rest of the sound. The camera was also zoommed in a little too far in my opinion but that's an easy fix. Overall a solid game and a creative use of the theme, good job!

I like the idea but it was on the more unplayable side for me since I've got a German keyboard and when it tells me to press something like slash or tilde I have no idea what button to press since the game assumes the standard American layout. (Oh, and the text, telling you what buttons are currently your controls is a bit small and in a hard to read font for that size.)

I feel it's quite an interesting mechanics to have and really fits the 'Out of Control' theme! Some of the jumbled up keys to move and jump can have quite awkward placings (but I think this was done intentionally to up the difficulty of the game). I also think the art was well drawn and I like it!

A few pointers for improvement though. I think the fonts can be bigger so that players can see the key changes clearly. Also, a dynamic mini map to guide the players would be helpful and the maps are being jumbled up as well when the slime reaches the checkpoint and it can feel a bit confusing on which direction to go after that.

Overall pretty well done game and I look forward for a release of a more complete game!

The font is hard to read, other than that, it's ok.

This is a prime example of "thinking of what you could, instead of thinking what you should". The art was great, but the game was not enjoyable. Sticking to the theme is nice, but you should prioritize having fun above all.

I really liked the random switching of the keys, made the platforming a real challenge. My only real complaints is it's a bit hard to read the font for the game and giving a warning for when the controls change would make this a lot easier as I had a couple times where my controls changed mid air and I was unable to complete a jump. Overall solid submission!

I quite liked this! In terms of the theme, this is probably the best interpretation I've seen so far. I had (and still have) trouble with the controls of the game, as is to be expected. My main issue is actually the teleportation (or gravity switching? I'm not clear on that). I could handle the key changes, but the teleporation / gravity switching was quite disorienting and it actually glitched me into a platform and I got stuck. Overall, though, this was a fun little submission to the jam. Nice job!

This game mechanic definitely grew on me. At first I didn't like it but it became fun scrambling to find the keys on my keyboard. That being said, some of the keys did not show up (they were empty brackets). Also, I think the keys ui should be bigger and placed toward the bottom of the screen. It was really hard to read them. Also, I think the camera should be pulled back more to see more of the level. Anyways, fun game! You should definitely add a cover image and some screenshots though!

Nice! You can add an indicator to make sure the player gets to know the keys have changed and make the camera zoom out a bit so we can see what is ahead.

Congrats on completing the game!

Wow! First I was like damn, controls do not work, I had to die a few times before I figured it out! but After that it was fun to play. controls where a bit small so I spent some time figuring out which keys it actually were, but that's part of the game I suppose :D. nice implementation!
