Great game! A lot of fun, intense, very original, pretty good use of the theme, nice work!
Love the puzzles and the art, this is a very well made game. The only issue was a bug (maybe) where I accidentally input the water track before it was taught. This made me think I could build over water when I couldn't. Still a 5 star game.
Thank you very much for you kind words. The issue is not a bug per say just a feature we didnt have time to implement. Better camera controls. Track crossing and not letting you input stuff without learning it first will probabably be added after the jam.
Very fun concept and the visuals are simply awesome. Well done!
Thanks! XD
With my 4 months of experience, I just don't get it how people learn to do such a cool looking pixel art, it's so motivating to see games like this one (made in 2 days!). I think I've seen some games with a similar concept, but what matters is the execution, and you nailed it. I'm especially critique about sound design in games, and your sounds are on point ahah. A satisfying game to play, without a doubt
I'm so happy you like the game and the art!
Very fun game! Kept me playing for a while! I got quite frustrated when I forgot the patterns to build the correct tracks, but that made the gameplay feel intense and made me want to keep playing! The sound effects are funny and I like them! Overall great job!
Loved the art, music and overall theme. Especially the idea of signally with the different smoke colours.
It felt like a fun blend of puzzle solving and a minimalist fighting game where I’m relying on muscle memory to hit combos quickly. Well done!
I like that take. Hadn't thought of it as being similar to a fighting game. Cool observation.
I've seen a game with the same idea of a train being out of control, but I liked your puzzle approach to the theme. Anyways, great job!
Thanks! yeah we realized afterwards it wasn't the most original idea to have an out of control train but had so much fun with the concept we decided to stick with it.
its a very nice game, im not a big fan of puzzle games but this one wasnt half bad
Yay! glad we could win over a non-puzzler. Our focus was to have a more action based game but it definitely felt puzzle like in the end.
Really fun and challenging game!
Thank you!
Nice little puzzle game. Quite challenging to remember all the commands, but that's definitely part of the charm. Good job!
Thanks for playing! We wanted to make the controls somewhat memorable but ran out of time in the fine tuning. Plus we originally had quite a few more commands we were going to teach.
Wow, this is a really great game! I especially loved the sound effects.
Thanks so much! We had a lot of fun making them
"Engineers just realized three lefts make a right!". Really nice game! Very challenging to keep up with the train. Sometimes it is annoying that the camera is focused on the train. Nicely put together. Also, was it done in C++?. Awesome job!
Yeah Devon (the Level Designer @DeMaLaw) was the one that wrote the text for each level. I didn't get a chance to read it much until the game was finished and then I was surprised by how much character he put into it. Definitely a great addition to the game
Very nice game! Nice art style and smart gameplay! Enjoyed it quite a bit!
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Cool game! It was easy to get into and understand the idea. 10 of 5 on the sound design.
Thanks so much! Yeah we had a lot of fun finding stuff to make sound effects here in the basement. We used a vice and some wooden boards to make the track placing sound
Yeah a mini-map wouldn't have been a bad idea. I think I will release a version after the voting has ended where the view follows the end of the track rather than the train which should solve a lot of problems. We could also allow you to zoom in and out or maybe look around the map at the beginning before the train starts moving
Great execution on an interesting concept! Slow introduction of new ideas was done really well
Thanks for playing! Luckily the things we decided to do fit together pretty well this time around
Wow this UI and game idea is amazing!! Great job thinking this up and the art and sound are equally awesome! Congrats on submitting a game to the jam, please check out my game when you have time.
Thanks a lot! It turned out better than we expected. So glad you enjoyed it.
Very nicely done. The way the game introduced new tracks was very well designed. Overall a great game which could probably be released in its current state without anyone knowing that its a game jam game.
Thanks for the kind words. We had a lot planned too that went unfinished but the mechanics we chose happened to work pretty well on their own.
Awesome art. You can never go wrong with out of control trains :D
Haha so true. Thank you for your kind words. Made our team smile. XD
Loved it! Art is great, definitely felt out of control! As has been mentioned multiple times, camera controls, etc.
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!
