Loudest chickens ever lol. Fun game but super difficult. Archers were shooting but on the second round they didn't do any damage. The giant's health never moved.

Developer(+1)

Archers should still do damage, so not sure what happened there. However upgrading to the catapult by level 3 is definitely a must to stay in the game! Thanks for playing

Great job with the game. Those Gullivers are real jerks. Haha. I like the game mechanics. It took a couple tries to develop a good approach on what to develop first. Maybe it's just my playthrough, but I constantly heard a chicken. Haha. I wish a Gulliver would take care of that!

Developer

Yes very loud chickens, I should have added a death squawk when Gulliver killed them!

Overall - Great job building a strategy game with some serious difficulty in the time we had! Once I figured out what needed to happen, it was a fun little romp. I'd love for this to continue development to see what else you could add to it!

Fun - Definitely a good time fending off the giants. They spawned at a pretty intense rate, though, so I often found myself overwhelmed pretty early on. Still, it was a fun challenge.

Theme - Definitely on-theme. Love the Gulliver's Travels vibe.

Aesthetics -I think the low-poly look suited this game perfectly.

Music - I don't recall there being any music. Some nice lilting tones would've been a welcome addition!

Sound - The sound of those bells almost blew a hole in my speakers haha. I would tune the sound design a bit to make it less intense, but still noticable.

Mechanics - Pretty simple mechanics, which worked for me. Helped keep focus on the real task at hand, which was KILLING GIANTS!

Story - Not much of a story here, but not many RTS games have much in terms of stories, so it fits with the genre of game just fine!

Developer

Thanks for playing the game and your comments, feedback is very much appreciated as it's a great way to learn what works, almost works and what doesn't!

I do certainly need to work on my sound effects, music (lack of it) in future in doing these jams, I tend to leave it to the end which doesn't work out!

Thanks again.

Oh noooo! The naked giant killed my villagers!!!!

He's just been swimming ! :-)

Took a bit to figure out how to play (and I still found myself in a situation were it was impossible for me to build for the rest of the game).  The pacing could have been a bit quicker as well.

All that being said, I think you did a great job, it was a good take on the theme, I enjoyed the simple art style and I think it was a more interesting take on "tower defense" than the run of the mill.  Well done!

Developer

The pacing is an interesting one as some people would like more time to setup the defences and town before the first attack, me personally I prefer more straight into the action! I guess it would be one of those things that needs to go into a difficulty option somewhere.

Thanks for your comments and trying the game.

Hey, wish I was able to zoom out a bit more, and I think it's possible to place buildings like house through the button itself (when selecting the button, sometimes it places it).

But overall pretty enjoyable, well done!

Developer(+1)

Yes that's on my bug list, need to not how the tile selection through the UI as easy to double click and place it by accident.

Thanks for playing it

I love strategy games. good effort. I wont say anything more about the chicken that hasnt already been said haha. good job though with the game and mechanics

Developer

Thanks, much appreciated.

Awesome game! Had a blast getting to level 6 — not so much when my entire village got erased!

Developer

Level 6 is pretty good, I've managed 8/9 a few times while testing but that was after lots of practice.

Thanks for trying the game.

Nice strategy game. Though I would like to speed up the time, and maybe a wall to distract the guilliver. The mage tower is op, but its accuracy is zero.

Good game!

Developer(+1)

Walls were on our list but were complicated to join on the hex tiles so we removed them.

I think Mage tower just has a sort damage range, again would need to improve how that was shown.

Thanks for playing

This game is interesting. It can use some communication at the start on suggestions, or what to think about. I spent time at the start waiting and clicking on the buildings if there was something to do, or what. It seems like it could be interesting once I got a feel for what I'm supposed to do.

Developer

Yes it needs some sort of tutorial. Best way of progressing is definitely 2 Lumber yards and a mine and then put an archer tower up and continue on building up. So I guess I could do some kind of tutorial with that process! Thanks for trying it.

Don't usually go for this genre of game but once I understood the mechanics I had fun! Think that chicken might drive me insane though xD good job!

Developer(+1)

Yes I will continue to apologise over the annoying chicken noises...I can still hear them now from when I developed it!

Pretty cool! This is one game to keep track of in the future!

Developer

Thanks. I do think with a lot of work it could be turned into a fairly decent strategy game - something simple without having a huge learning curve. Larger islands, better terrain ideas etc. However not sure there would be a market for it other than me!

 Thanks for playing

Very interesting game concept and very funny Gulliver. :)

Overall trying to defeat Gulliver was fun, but not easy, although I was more annoyed by the constant sounds of chickens))))

Developer

I do apologise for the chicken noises.... :-)

That's a fun game, I love rts, and the hex-grid is a fun touch to it. The concept of fighting of giants is extremely cool !

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I would have loved to add more stuff but I ran out of time. I might do at later date however.

Yeah I totally get that, I feel the same for my own game ahah!
The defense  against  giant s   concept  you  have can  really go  a  long   way   I think! :)

It gave me Attack on Titan vibes! I got to level 5. In case you are interested, there is a bug when building a tower on the same Hex than the TItan he doesn't attack.

Developer

Good spot. I plan to do a build post jam with some bug fixes (and better sounds). I'll do that post jam. Thanks for playing.

Well done, was fun game, I think the sound needs a little work but still good job :)

Developer

Thanks, sound was left too late - need to work out a better schedule and timescale on doing these. Thanks for playing.

It felt weird at first, I understood it eventually. The naked man destroyed my buildings haha, good job!

Developer

Thanks, he's not quite naked!

I wished I'd had time to do a stomp action on those houses...

Submitted

A naked man rushed in and killed all my chicken farms, was not ready at all lol. Cool hex tile building game, wish there was a bit of set up first.

Developer(+1)

He's not quite naked ! Yes my tester (my wife) told me to add a set up time, as you see I didn't and should have listened!

Submitted

You know what they say, behind every successful gamedev... Hahah, but setup timer would help. I did not expect so little time. Fun otherwise!

Submitted

Fun city builder game! It took me a while to understand which buildings need to be placed first. Great job overall!

Developer

Yes, it does need better help and tooltips! Thanks for giving it a go.

Submitted

Awesome job! Attack on Titan game next! Keep up the great work

Developer(+1)

Thanks
