A lovely dungeon crawler with nice puzzles, enjoyed it through!

Feel free to check out my take on dungeon crawler genre using the link below :3

Thank you for playing my game! I'm looking forward to see your game being expanded too!

Lags like heck on my computer! (Granted, all its components are about nine years old, so.)

And gotta say: not a fan of the lens dirt, but that's probably just me.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I didn't do any optimization so that could be the reason too. I might also add an option to disable lens dirt. I'm gonna expand this game. If you are interested you can follow me on itch.io page.. Thanks for taking your time!

You're welcome. Will follow.

And it just occurred to me: you probably coded the movement and lookaround code yourself, didn't you....

Developer (1 edit)

Yes but it is based on youtube tutorial with some changes. It uses Character Controller instead of Rigidbody. It's much better to make your own controller instead of using the ones in Unity Standard Assets as those are very laggy.

Ah, makes sense.

Beautiful game, impressive work! I'm stuck in a room full of books, I can't find the key :/

Developer

The last puzzle is hard to do yourself. There is one book that acts as a lever but it is hard to find because I ran out of time and didn't add any hints which one it is. It will be fixed as I'm expending this game further. If you want to see more of it then be sure to follow me on itch.io page. Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

At the last puzzle it's not hard it's just frustrating because you are randomly looking for something. If you gave the key for "free" the player will know that they need to find the keyhole. And for moving the book maybe all books are align except for one, the player will find it odd and try to play with it. I like the style, keep up the good work! I also did a puzzle game for the jam. Here if you want to try: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463579

Developer

Totaly agree. The last puzzle needs some hints. I will be expanding this game. If you are interested in it then you can follow me on itch.io page. Thanks for taking your time!

I really liked the feel of this game, the visuals, presentation everything was ++. The only gripe, which I think was the case for some of the other comments here, is the final puzzle. I had to search here for hints, and even with those it took me a good while to find the solutions. I recorded my play session, so hopefully I can upload that soon since I talk more about it there, but I think with a few more limitations in the final room, for example, if there was say a green carpet or stone near the door opened by the green book, and then only one green book in the library to help the player make the connection, that would be all it takes to make that last level flow that much better.

Still, thats a small thing workable by play testing, apart from that great game feel and for 48 hours GREAT WORK on the visuals and layout.

If you have time, would love to hear what you think of my game; https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/461074

I know the last puzzle is too hard. Unfortunately I couldn't add any hints because I ran out of time. I'm going to expand this game, so that will be fixed for sure. If you would be interested in it you can follow me on itch.io page. Thanks for feedback! I'm looking forward to see the video. I will get ton of useful information from it. It will really help me improve the game. Thanks for taking your time!

Well made first-person puzzle, I like movement and controls, they're smooth and enjoyable. Puzzles are great, but sometimes I missed some hints.

Developer(+1)

There should be a note with some hints in the library for sure. Thanks for playing! I'm planning to develop this game further. If you are intersted in it then make sure to follow me on itch.io page. Thank you!

Wish you luck!

Wow. Now this is impressive.
This is soooo polished, for a game done by one person. I loved it.

Developer

I've tried to do my best. Glad you like it! It's going to be expanded in the future. If you are interested in it you can follow me on itch.io page. Thanks!

Pretty impressed you've done this much in such a low amount of time.

I got scared progressing through the dungeon! Your game did the trick! :)

I have a question regarding your flashy green mushrooms: how did you make them? It's looking really nice!

Developer (6 edits)

The mushrooms are using standard shader material with some emission.

Combine that with some bloom and you achive this effect. In order for this to work correctly you also need to change color space from gamma to linear. You can do so in Project Settings > Player > Other Settings.  I always use bloom along side Color Grading with Mode set to ACES and Post-exposure set to about 1 so it's not so dark.

Make sure you also have HDR enabled in Project Settings > Graphics. It should be enabled by default.

I'm gonna expand this game. If you are interested in it then follow me on itch.io page. Thanks for playing!

Thank you so much! My guess was emission + point light but it was bloom & color grading change, I'll try to experiment with that then! I'll keep an eye on the game for sure!

Developer(+1)

There is actually a point light too. I forgot about it :)

You really nailed the minimalist art style! So fluid and nice to look at! Ya boi needs a backpack haha! No for real though the only one item idea was solid! Cool game!!

Good title for the game jam, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the puzzle solving. Beautful effects as well!

Great job :)

That was a really nice puzzle game, I wouldn't have minded continuing this for another few levels :p Like many people I got stuck near the end but when I looked up your comments I saw that I had the right idea. Maybe putting the - ah, I don't want to spoil the fun for others - the lever for the first door in a more obvious position would have been better, I don't know. There are so many things in this room, if you don't know what to search for it would be lost in a sea of props anyway.

I have nothing more to say that hasn't been said already (and better) by other people, so yeah, thank you for this game, it was fun and I enjoyed it greatly!

Developer

If I would have added the note to the last level that would mention green book it would probably be almost perfect. I really wish I had like half an hour more time to do this. Thanks for playing and feedback. I'm planning to expand this game so if you are interested follow me on itch.io and stay tuned for more.

Really cool game! Love the art and atmosphere of it.

I got stuck in the library, as other before me (a few hints may have been useful here), but all in one I had a great moment.

Developer

Thanks for your time! I going to expand this game. You can follow me on itch.io page if you are interested in seeing more of it.

Submitted(+1)

You nailed the look and atmosphere of this game. Only minor nit is that it wasn't too obvious which items you could interact with or which were useful for solving each puzzle.

Developer

Yeah, I know. I really wish I had the time to add some notes especially for the last level. Thanks for your feedback. If you are interested in this project you can follow me on itch.io pgae. I will be expanding it for sure.

Submitted(+1)

That's seriously impressive!

Visually stunning, you nailed the atmosphere and immersion.

You definitely deserve more rating. I feel humbled when I see your game.

Good 3D puzzle game. All these coins! I really wanted to take them with me.

I stuck in the same room as previous commenters. I lighted the torch. At start I thought I should place it in a torch holder near one of doors, but couldn't. I even mad a hill of books to climb higher.

Then I found the keyhole and started searching for the key. But I couldn't find it.

Developer(+1)

Here's the solutuion to find the key - there is a special green book that acts as a lever. It opens the door on the right. There you will find the key. It is a bit hidden under something but It shouldn't be too hard to find.

Thanks for your time! I'm glad you liked the coins :)
