How does your game fit the theme?
You play a platformer using a virtual controller which has it's keys periodically damaged and no longer function. The exposed wires from destroyed buttons can be re-mapped to other still-intact buttons to use their functions.

Gorgeous presentation, and the best execution of the control remapping theme interpretation I've seen so far.

Good job!

Hard to believe this is 48 hours.   Beautiful art, smooth intuitive interface (though I need to come back and play with gamepad to understand the reprogramming with that.)    Such simple easy levels that are suddenly SO CHALLENGING.   I loved it but would become super frustrated with being killed by the timer.    Maybe instead of instakill it's a ranking system (stars or such).

I loved that the game started taking things away just as you needed them. I felt like I was able to anticipate when and where it would happen, and even after learning, I still found it difficult to not repeat my mistakes and I couldn't help but to laugh at myself.

Very good game, I’m impressed this could be done in 48 hours, keep up the good work!

What a fun little game, I was worried there was not gonna be a twist but goddamn I was proven wrong, Great gameplay, got me really tensed up having to switch all those cables around. Nice audio design and overall a great experience. Awesome job!

I played this for a bit offstream and it was so good that I went back and finished it! Probably the best "you lost the ability to do X" game I've played. It felt like I could fight back against it in a really hectic way that was instantly clear to me but still mind boggling.

Except for the scripted "skull takes something" parts which felt a bit arbitrary I like how it was executed. Maybe if the buttons the skull was going to take, and where was shown visually somehow, there would be more room for planning. Either way it was a fun and hectic ride!

This game is dripping with style. The concept and the artwork fit neatly together as a theme. The core gameplay mechanism is equal parts intentionally infuriating and eventually rewarding as you start to get used to mapping the controls on the fly.

There are times that it's hard to tell whether something is an intentional part of the challenge or just accidentally frustrating, such as the mouse seeming to repeatedly refuse to grab a wire as the timer ticks down.

Thanks a ton mate! Yeah the frustrating parts of the level design and mechanics are definitely intentional on my end haha, I like being a bit of a dick I guess!
The wire grabbing is indeed a problem and it's something I struggle with when playing the game myself, definitely one of the first things I would address if we were to further develop this! Thank you ever so much for the feedback, it's super appreciated!

This game is awesome! I love the execution of the key moving dynamic, and it's a real challenge trying to figure out which key goes where at a given time! My only critic would be the timer per level was a bit intense, it didn't give you much room to play around with things before time ran out. Maybe post jam, there'd be a way to play the levels with and without the timer? Besides that, great concept, cool look, good job!

Really cool game with amazing sound design!  The cursed controller mechanic gets really fun in later levels.  One of my top 3 games for the GameMaker's Toolkit jam 2020.

Took me a little to figure out how it worked, but this is really awesome. It's pretty thrilling to be platforming and all of the sudden one of the buttons stops working. The only issue I have is the difficulty, which seems to ramp up pretty quickly, so just turning down the time limit on some of the levels would fix that. Overall very good entry, and looks great as well.

Fantastic art, was very stressful to switch around and remembering the new input constantly. Fantastic execution!

It's just so pretty!!! Love the split screen idea

Really interesting platformer, the controls mechanic is really clever.  If I was to change anything I would add some sort of indicator for what the broken parts do as whilst their colours don't change, trying to keep track of what blue does for example was more frustrating than fun.

Other than that I really liked it and the sound effects were amusing.

good game the mechanics are really challengeing

That was an amusing challenge to tackle. Very well-executed.

i have to admit that the gameplay was a bit confusing at start but as i played i really enjoyed it and it really fits with the theme as well, keep up the good work :)

Absolutely nailed the presentation and style, really interesting idea, haha man it's one heck of a challenge just trying to remember what keys do what on the fly as you're trying to reorient them, much less also platform. Definitely need some solid multitasking skills to get it done, but, it's a good challenge. A great entry!

Lovely presentation and art style, I like the colour palette and the layout! It certainly did not take me long to confuse myself, but I think part of the fun of the game is deciphering what is even going on when everything starts kicking off with control being taken away. The music is well-chosen and fits the mood well. The gameplay is difficult for me, but... well, I suck at platformers most the time anyways. I still like the way you introduce the mechanics regardless! Nice work! :D

Also, here's some bad fan art:

Very creative design, and very well executed game. The panic you feel when the timer is slowly dropping makes it a lot harder and fun to play, and the artstyle is amazing too, definitely liked it.

I loved this! There's such a fun sense of discovery to the controller-destruction mechanic -- some great "aha!" moments here.

I do think the death-timer could have been conveyed a little bit more clearly (e.g. add a ticking clock that starts going at the halfway mark, and gets faster and faster as the timer approaches zero).

I did end up getting stuck on the level where you only have one functional key, and there's that gate right at the start with you. What do I do????

Excellent work y'all!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I do think a more clear timer indicator would've been nice.

As for the level you are stuck on...there's only a single level where you are left with only a single key and that one doesn't have any gates in it. Just to be certain, do you know that what used to be the directional keys and function keys can be re-mapped to each other and vice versa? If all else fails it could have been a rare bug that we let slip by! Restarting the level "should" return things to intended.
